<p>Greg Kelly, the 32-year-old Fox News Channel correspondent who has been traveling with the Army's 3rd Infantry Division, has emerged as the breakout correspondent of Operation Iraqi Freedom.</p> <p>The former Marine, who was trained as a fighter pilot, has become as well-known for his exclusives - he was the first broadcast journalist to roam Saddam's presidential palace - as he is for an on-air plea to his dad, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, to make sure someone takes care of his taxes while he's on assignment. "I felt like if I ever wanted to go into journalism, I'd be in a better position to do it after being in the military," says Kelly, calling from Baghdad. "I mean, a 22-year-old asking a politician questions - what has that 22-year-old ever accomplished?"</p>

Not for the first time, the most spectacular images of the United States armoured advance to Baghdad have come from Rupert Murdoch's Fox Network. After scooping its cable news rivals CNN and MSNBC with footage of troops entering Baghdad and then later storming Saddam International Airport, a Fox reporter, Greg Kelly, and his cameraman had the dress circle view yesterday as a column of US 3rd Infantry division tanks took a tour of Baghdad landmarks. Starting at Saddam Hussein's main presidential palace, viewers were afforded footage of gold-plated wash basins and waterfalls, and a US soldier hoisting a Georgia University...

"Saddam Hussein says he owns Baghdad? Wrong. We own Baghdad. We own his palace. We own his downtown hotels. This is history," US tank commander Colonel David Perkins said. The euphoric message was broadcast to the world from the doorstep of one of Saddam's presidential palaces by American reporter Greg Kelly of Fox TV. Reporting from the Al Sijood palace on the banks of the Tigris today, Kelly told how the US 3rd Infantry moved into Baghdad in less than an hour this morning. Live footage showed American soldiers entering what the correspondent called "the main presidential palace", a large...

US Forces Attacking Central Baghdad -US Military Mon April 7, 2003 01:00 AM ET NEAR BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A column of U.S. tanks and armored vehicles have launched an attack on central Baghdad, a U.S. officer told Reuters on Monday. "We're attacking right down in the center of the city right now," said Major Michael Birmingham, chief public affairs officer for the U.S. 3rd Infantry. "The other day was just an incursion. This is for real," he added, referring to a foray U.S. armored forces made into southwest Baghdad on Saturday. Reuters witnesses in the city said they heard shelling...

U.S. infantry officer says "We own Baghdad" - Fox WASHINGTON, April 7 (Reuters) - A United States infantry officer told Fox news on Monday that U.S. soldiers took an American Flag into the presidential palace in Iraq's capital. The officer claimed ownership of Baghdad in a conversation with Fox newsman Greg Kelly, who was broadcasting live by videophone. "Saddam Hussein says he owns Baghdad. We own Baghdad. We own his palaces; we own downtown. ... the Third Infantry Division officer told Fox News Channel. The infantry officer then said he intended to "turn on one of the golden faucets in...

A dramatic blow-by-blow account of America's push into Baghdad was delivered from the turret of a tank yesterday by an embedded Fox News correspondent, Greg Kelly. As confusion reigned over the nature and extent of the US forces' grip on the Iraqi capital, television news networks relayed a to-camera report recorded live during the early stages of their initial push into the city. Surveying the scene from the top of a turret, a helmeted Kelly delivered his report as a column of US tanks from the 3rd Infantry Division surged along Route Eight into Baghdad's suburbs. His cameraman, Mal James,...

<p>Fox truely has spectacular footage of the 3rd Infantry Division as it fought its way into Baghdad and they are right to tout this exclusive video.</p> <p>But absolutely idiotic is the director that shows only 3/4 of it while hiding the other 1/4 of the screen behind a banner of nonsense. Fox might be the most watched Cable News Channel but it's obvious the director is not one of those watching the coverage. Someone at Fox is not paying attention.</p>

THEY were astonishing scenes that the world did not expect to see so soon. Just 17 days after the first cruise missiles slammed into Baghdad, a column of American armour rolled with apparent impunity through the outskirts of the city. One minute the news cameras caught Iraqi children waving shyly to their liberators, the next, US machine guns were raking suspected suicide bombers in trucks and cars with bullets, their targets rolling to a stop amid clouds of smoke, the fate of their occupants in little doubt. For the soldiers of the US 3rd Infantry Division, their foray into Baghdad...

PARIS (AFP) - International television networks Saturday showed viewers around the world astounding footage of battles in which US mechanized units stormed in and out of a southern district of the Iraqi capital. The networks, including Fox News, Sky News, CNN and BBC World showed pictures taken mostly by their own cameramen embedded with armoured US forces, or by cameramen working for other networks. In some of the most impressive footage, Fox TV and Sky News viewers were able to acompany a tank column advancing on an Iraqi highway and actually watch as what seemed to be a speeding...

I was watching Foxnews as Greg Kelly traveled with the Third Infantry Division of Marines. They had just crossed over into Iraq. The convoy stopped, and the camera panned over to a recently destroyed Iraqi tank. A marine got out of the tank, pulled an Iraqi flag off the destroyed enemy tank, and got back in his tank, and they drove on. I must say Foxnews coverage has been the best.
