I am finding myself more disillusioned with politics than ever before. It's not just the stolen presidential election but the entire media is now anti-conservative and going for the jugular to smear and destroy. Every article I come across you can see it and it's pretty depressing! They have some how got this guy in office and have to rally round him and boost him. Opposition must be ridiculed/smeared and called extreme. They're even coming after services like Parler and shutting them down. I still logon to FR - perhaps the last free space on the internet - but generally...

After Parler was shut down i've heard many people say that FreeRepublic could also be targeted especially under the Democrats. I've been thinking about it and I reckon FR should be safe... Here's why: 1) FR is a News/Links/Discussion site. It's NOT some massive social media platform. 2) FR is Moderated. Trolls and troublemakers are booted and the site complies with the law (copyright, etc) 3) Jim has been in this game for over 20 YEARS. He knows what it takes to keep the site online. There is no doubt that Free Republic will be a target of the Blob. They will pressure the current Internet Service Provider, if it's based in the US, to cancel service based upon alleged threats of violence uttered by some.

This happened this morning while I was reading an article on FR.

Sort of a combo thread here. My mother had a short outing with a friend on Sat. Her friend called Tues to say she was pos for COVID, in the hospital. Now, my mother is clearly ill and today, her doctor said to get tested tomorrow, and quarantine for 2 weeks. I and my household family were with her Sun, and I have been with her today to help with the televisit stuff, and tomorrow for the test. It seems the performance issue has been resolved. Mumble mumble Apache2 was configured with MPM event causing mod_perl to segfault, changed to prefork mumble mumble and now it works. Now that the show-stopping issue is solved, next is mail (for flesh blood/registration) and the whack line noise especially in replies. Later is mumble mumble UTF8 encoding issue, double encoding probably mumble mumble.

Out of an abundance of caution, we're pausing our FReepathon during transition period. Registration system is also temporarily down due to glitch in sendmail feature. DNS is not going as smoothly as we hoped and there are a few other glitches to be worked out yet. Hope to have this all smoothed out as soon as possible. Well. we now know what to do if we ever get deplatformed. And we know how to be better prepared for an emergency provider swap. Great job, John! Thank you all very much. God bless.

Why does a different list of FR current articles come up Brave vs Google Chrome? Newt article, then Grenell, then (on Brave) Michael Jackson, Covid party, then fact checking whitehouse. On Chrome, the Jackson story and Covid party story NOT THERE! WHY?

I cannot believe I missed my own anniversary. I joined FR 22 years ago, during the height of the Clinton Impeachment. So many great memories. Met Henry Hyde with some local Illinois Freepers, protested Clinton when he was here in Chicago (He turned around and looked at us when I yelled "How's Monica's throat?") and so much more. Hoping some fellow Class of '98'ers chime in and let me know they're still here.
