GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Gainesville police arrested a man who stole and ate a woman’s $5 bill. According to the arrest report, Henry Chambers Jr. snatched a $5 bill from Kadisha Grant’s hand as it was being handed to her. The 60-year-old walked away, threatening Grant in the street. Chambers then said Grant would die before he returned the money, and proceeded to put the $5 bill in his mouth, chewed it, and swallowed it. Chambers was charged with felony robbery by sudden snatching and booked in the Alachua County Jail.

A home in Fort Lauderdale is severely damaged after a crane toppled over on top it. It happened in the 1900 block of NE 57th Street on Friday around noon. Video from Chopper 4 shows the crane collapsed onto the roof and the cab turned over on its side. There are reports of at least one minor injury but it’s not know whether the person is the crane operator or someone in the house. A Florida man who requested a mail-in ballot for his wife who died in 2018 said he just "wanted to test the system,” according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said the local supervisor of elections contacted them on Sept. 17 about possible voter fraud after they received a request for a mail-in ballot for Ursula Wiggins, who has been dead for two years, and noticed that the signature on the form didn’t match the signature on her prior voter registration records. A Florida man was arrested Monday after shooting an AR-15 assault-style rifle at a U.S. Census worker who had come near his property. Flagler County deputies were called to a home in Bunnel, about 70 miles north of Orlando, around 6:15 after the Census worker reported that Michael Cooper, 32, had fired a shot at him, according to WKMG-TV. Neighbors told officers that the Census worker had parked on the street, away from Cooper’s home, in a vehicle that identified him as a Census worker. HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. -- An apparent confrontation between two drivers led to two separate road rage incidents in Hillsborough County, according to deputies. Police are searching for a man who broke into a Catholic church in Florida on Friday and tried to burn it down. The church’s pastor in a Sept. 20 video urged prayers for the man and thanked God that the church survived the attack. Casey Crowther, 35, received more than $2 million from the federal loan program set up during the coronavirus pandemic to protect businesses and their employees on behalf of his company Target Roofing and Sheet Metal, U.S. Attorney Maria Chapa Lopez said. A Florida man who called himself "the antifa hunter" will spend more than three years in prison after being convicted of sending racist threats to other people online. Daniel McMahon, a 32-year-old from Brandon, Florida, was sentenced to three years and five months in federal prison for harassing and threatening people online. ORLANDO — A Florida man allegedly high on drugs he received for his birthday walked out of an Orlando hospital early Sunday morning, broke into a nearby home and fatally stabbed the well-known county attorney living there, authorities said. William Ramon Franklin, 33, is charged with first-degree murder and burglary of a dwelling with assault or battery, according to Orange County jail records. He is being held without bond. The victim, Erin Elizabeth Hartigan, 44, was an assistant attorney for the Orange County Attorney’s Office, Orlando police officials said Monday at a news conference.

Florida police have arrested a man after finding more than two dozen pipe bombs, including some that contained nails, screws and metal pellets. Police had been called after an explosion and found several bombs near a street and others in a trash bin. After officers identified Haasze as a suspect, he approached officers and surrendered. The 34-year-old told them he made the bombs for celebrations and to remove tree stumps and that he never intended to hurt anyone.

Ashley Mason, 31, was charged on Wednesday for her involvement in the death of Desmond Joshua, who had recently started working at a Burger King in Orlando. The Aug. 1 shooting followed an argument involving the Burger King’s manager, Joshua and a woman, whom police officials later identified as Mason. A Florida homeowner shot and killed an armed man who broke into his home on Saturday, according to Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco. Ronald Fleet, 55, was apparently angry that the homeowner and his family were helping his estranged wife as the two went through a divorce, Nocco said.
