On Flag Day, the Democrats twitter feed sent out a photo to, one assumes, celebrate and honor the day. There was only one slight, tiny, no big deal little problem with the flag. It wasn't ours. Happy Flag Day! pic.twitter.com/I93jQ7ji1e— The Democrats (@TheDemocrats) June 14, 2014 As you can imagine this is all over the news in the mainstreahaha ha ha ha ah just kidding. So far the only cable coverage has been on Fox News. Of course, this reminds us of the 2008 DNC where any kind of flag was hard to find. You know, until we found them....

It’s Flag Day and the Army’s birthday. I wonder if Barack and Michelle will send a ‘shout out’ about the importance of this day, like they did to Michael Sams when he kissed a man on national TV. See below from Allen B West: Today, Saturday 14 June, 2014 is one of those special days for American patriots and Soldiers. It is a day intertwined in the uniqueness representative of the greatness and exceptionalism of America. Today is Flag Day — and also the 239th birthday of our United States Army. The Army was established on this day in 1775...

On this date in 1777, the Second Continental Congress authorized the new American flag of 13 stars and stripes, and is now known as Flag Day in the United States. Today also marks the official birthday of the United States Army in 1775, following John Adams' proposal for the formation of a Continental Army a few days before. Today we honor the men and women who have served our country.

“Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth.”—Psalms 60:4 From the earliest periods nations seem to have gone forth to war under some banner. Sometimes it has been merely the pennon of a leader, and was only a rallying signal. So, doubtless, began the habit of carrying banners, to direct men in the confusion of conflict, that the leader might gather his followers around him when he himself was liable to be lost out of their sight. Later in the history of nations the banner acquired other uses and...

Today, June 14 is flag day. It is a day set aside to honor our national standard and what it represents. The many millions who have fought under the stars and stripes need not be reminded of why it's important to honor the flag. And for the rest of us, there is that longing that the flag fulfills: it allows us to belong to something greater than ourselves. Back in 2006, I wrote about a color bearer for the Union army during the Civil War, Sgt. Benjamin Crippin, who has been memorialized for his courage on the first day of...

It is the most easily-recognized flag in the world, the flag of the United States of America. It is the symbol of our great nation, a nation that was the envy and the desire of the world, and for so long, the light of nations for freedom and prosperity. Our nation is under attack from within, at the hands of those who run our federal government and other institutions. Even our flag, for many years now, has been a target of those who hate us. Some of us have become disheartened and weary of speaking out against the evil forces...

Prestige Assisted Living at Sierra Vista celebrates National Flag Week with an opportunity for local residents to exchange worn-out U.S. flags for new flags, free of charge, beginning June 10. Prestige invites the community to stop by and receive a brand-new American flag in exchange for worn-out or used flags throughout the week. Remember when I led the parade? Hats came off and hands were placed over one's heart as I approached and passed by. Remember where I have been and what I stand for— ANZIO, NORMANDY, LEYTE, IWO JIMA, KOREA, VIETNAM, IRAQ, AFGHANISTAN and the ongoing war on terror, etc. The memorial honor rolls of those who did not come back are saluted when you salute me. REMEMBER THE 31-WORD PLEDGE: I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE...I am RESPONSIBLE as an INDIVIDUAL not to take our freedom for granted and thus to risk losing it. ...AND TO THE REPUBLIC FOR WHICH IT STANDS...Not a DEMOCRACY...

US Historical Flags Remember when TV stations used to sign off for the day? If you don't, you are probably under 30. Before 24/7 cable, a station ended its day - late at night or early in the morning - usually with a short, but inspiring or patriotic video. And one such sign-off video (shown below) plays to the appropriate tune, The Star Spangled Banner, as it shows the evolution of the American flag throughout our history - from Jamestown (1607) to the moon landing (1969). http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=F5bdonWlbL8 And that clip above is both quite a historical and an educational tribute to Flag...

Debbie’s Daily Dose of Food for Thought The stars and stripes of our flag are known round the world. Here is the first stanza of a poem to ponder and a few things to know about our flag and Flag Day. “There’s a flag hangs over my threshold, whose folds are more dear to me Than the blood that thrills in my bosom its earnest of liberty; And dear are the stars it harbors in its sunny field of blue As the hope of a further heaven that lights all our dim lives through.” -- Julie Ward Howe (American Poet,...

Today is Flag Day. I thought it appropriate to give links to proper flag etiquette and a history of Flag Day. U.S. Flag.org Flag Etiquette When the flag is displayed from a staff projecting from a window, balcony, or a building, the union should be at the peak of the staff unless the flag is at half staff. When flown with flags of states, communities, or societies on separate flag poles which are of the same height and in a straight line, the flag of the United States is always placed in the position of honor - to its own...

KAMPALA, Uganda, - A Ugandan man is asking a court to stop the country from flying its flag until he has been paid for the 48-year-old design. Semei Matia Nyai, 80, is asking a court to force the government to pay him $684,000 for designing the flag when Uganda became independent of Britain in 1962, Radio France Internationale reported Monday. Nyai's lawsuit is also asking for housing and a car, court papers revealed. The retired school teacher said he never received any payment or recognition for designing the banner, which was selected by officials from public submissions and made the...
