A new KFC campaign being run in Canada has sparked a flurry of criticism on Twitter after photos of billboards were deemed racially insensitive. The global restaurant chain has long used its slogan, “It’s finger lickin’ good,” and in the new advertisement, the company utilizes a witty attempt at proving it. Azim Akhtar, the director of marketing for KFC Canada, excitedly shared images that depicted the reflections of two Black men and a woman of color in silverware as they ate chicken and licked their fingers. “Sorry, utensils. It’s finger lickin’ good. Latest campaign, I couldn’t be more proud!” he...

What started as a travel story for the Chicago Tribune has morphed into one of the biggest fast food recipe reveals: the original recipe for Kentucky Fried Chicken. The story of the how the recipe was (literally) placed into a reporter's hands started simply enough. A reporter travelled to the Harland Sanders Cafe and Museum and met with Joe Ledington, the nephew of Harland David Sanders (AKA Colonel Sanders).

Red-faced United Nations officials on Monday admitted to a major security lapse after a UN guard helped Kentucky Fried Chicken's "Colonel Sanders" gain access to restricted areas. The guard escorted the white-suited intruder past security barriers, where he got a handshake from the UN General Assembly president, Dr. Ali A. Treki of Libya. The faux fast food chain founder also posed for a picture beneath the assembly's giant UN logo, which overlooks the spot where world leaders address their international counterparts. "It should not have happened -- that I will stress, and very strongly," said Michele Montas, spokeswoman for UN...

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A federal judge on Wednesday dismissed a lawsuit brought by a doctor who accused KFC of not telling customers that it used trans fats to fry its chicken. In an occasionally sarcastic opinion, U.S. District Judge James Robertson said Dr. Arthur Hoyte could not show that he was harmed by KFC's use of the artery-clogging fats. That was enough to doom the lawsuit, but Robertson also noted other flaws in the case. "While it might be appropriate for this court to find, as a matter of law, that the consumption of fat — including trans fat —...

The fast food chain KFC is being sued for the fat content in its fried chicken, which Center for Science in the Public Interest says contains "staggering amounts" of trans fat. One three-piece Extra Crispy combo meal has 15 grams of trans fat, which is more trans fat than a person should have in one week, says the CSPI. "The class-action suit… asks that the court prohibit KFC from using partially hydrogenated oil, or that at the very least, signs be posted in KFC outlets notifying customers that many KFC foods are high in trans fat," said a CSPI press...

A kitchen manager at the TGI Friday's at College Mall injured himself Tuesday and no one immediately realized he had lost part of his finger while others rushed to help him, said Amy Freshwater, a spokeswoman for the chain.

14 December 2005 It was only 30 degrees at high noon in Fayetteville today with a steady breeze, but a few loyal Freepers turned out at KFC on Owen Drive to defend our carnivorous culture against the anti-animal activists from PETA. I (cf_river_rat) showed up before eleven o’clock, just as the PAID Peta deceivers were unloading their costumes and props. I went inside the restaurant and heard the employees discussing the Colonel-criticizers, who were gearing up in plain view through the window. The most notable quote overheard was “Don’t they (Peta) realize how pathetic they look out there?”I found the...

Protesters deserved more than disdain I helped picket Kentucky Fried Chicken on Dec. 5. I estimate 75 percent of the thousands driving past didn't want to know and earnestly ignored us. Fifteen percent tried to take in the visual information offered. Two percent became angry. How dare they! Troublemakers! Eight percent laughed, smiled, fist-saluted, hooted, waved and joyfully expressed their support for PETA's plea for mercy for these helpless feathery creatures. Perhaps they too affirmed a small group (80 percent female) of shivering people protesting the status quo. Out of self-respect, instead of butchery, let us show a degree of...

Today I encountered PETA protesting at the Kentucky Fried Chicken in Cheyenne, Wyoming. I just could not let this stand unopposed so an emergency FReep was let loose on the PETA morons, much to the delight of the business owner and local ranchers........

The front lines of a high-stakes food fight moved recently to a sidewalk in front of a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant, where young volunteers from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals tried to shock and disgust lunch-hour patrons. There was a PETA intern dressed in a bloodied chicken costume, a 22-year-old with shocking pink hair and the word "VEGAN" tattooed across her chest in gothic lettering, and campaign coordinator Ben Goldsmith with a flat-screen television strapped to his chest. "That bird is having its thigh sliced open while fully conscious," Goldsmith said, narrating a grisly video as KFC customer...

PAMMIE SNUBS KFC LUNCH DATE -- TV babe Pamela Anderson has blasted KFC Canada boss John Bitove, after the chairman invited her to discuss animal rights over lunch. The animal-loving actress has joined forces with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals in their attack on the fast-food giant's treatment of chickens and has even appeared in a promotional video for them. After Anderson called for a boycott of KFC, Bitove claimed the "Stacked" star was misinformed and invited her to find out the truth. He offered to talk to her "anywhere, anytime," adding, "the facts are Stacked against Anderson"...

SAN DIEGO - The hunt is on for a different kind of burglar. Police in San Diego are searching for a gunman who swiped a bag of poop from a woman out walking her dog. The woman told police that she was out walking her dog, Misty, on Monday night when a man in his 20s ran up behind her and grabbed the bag she was holding. When the gunman discovered what was in it, he threw it down in disgust, pointed his gun at the 32-year-old woman and demanded money, San Diego police detective Gary Hassen said. He then...

The question is: "Is Kerry sticking his bony, well-manicured, girly, index finger in the chest of the Marine pictured here?" The answer is "No." After optimizing the pic with Photoshop and Image Optimizer, what looks like Kerry's finger is actually the top piece of a wooden frame that holds a mirror and is attached to the window. There is another mirror just like it behind the Marine, to the right of his elbow.
