A gas shortage threatens the Long Island region,” bleat six Long Island state senators, all Democrats, in a letter pleading for approval of a pipeline proposed to fix the problem — belatedly admitting that the policies they’ve long favored don’t work for their own constituents. This year, Sens. Todd Kaminsky, John Brooks, James Gaughran, Anna Kaplan, Monica Martinez and Kevin Thomas all voted for Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Green New Deal law, whose very purpose is to further crimp energy supplies, and for a $100 million hike in taxes on energy. And, as Senate GOP leader John Flanagan (their fellow Long...

Two environmental groups are suing the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in an effort to protect the dunes sagebrush lizard, also known as the sand dune lizard, under the Endangered Species Act. The Center for Biological Diversity and the Defenders of Wildlife filed a lawsuit in federal district court on Tuesday. The small lizard only lives in southeast New Mexico and west Texas. It thrives in sand dunes and shrubs called shinnery oaks. In May 2018, the groups asked Fish and Wildlife to list the species as threatened or endangered. The lawsuit argues the agency should have responded within 90...

There have been five Category 5 hurricanes — all of which made landfall — in the Atlantic since 2016. Five. Before that, the Atlantic basin had gone eight years without one of these monster tropical cyclones. Eight. The ugly truth, according to climate scientists, is that we have no reason not to expect another Dorian. Or another Harvey. Or another Michael. We are running out of time to curb man-made impacts on climate. On Monday, the 16-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg told world leaders at the UN Climate Action Summit in New York, starkly: “You are failing us. But the...

A few days ago, our small-town mayor in rural Virginia, about 45 minutes from a major nuclear power plant, announced she had received an offer from a company desiring 125 acres of town-owned woodland for a solar farm. It made little business sense until learning of Executive Order 43, signed on Sep. 16 by Virginia's Gov. Ralph Northam. EO-43 mandates expansion of solar energy and other renewable energy ideas like those in the Democrats' radical Green New Deal. Perhaps he had noble intentions, but more likely, it was to regain support from his base after being weakened politically by his alleged blackface photo and...

Reporters fawned Tuesday over 16-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg's response to a sarcastic tweet from President Donald Trump. "She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future," Trump tweeted after Thunberg warned the U.N. of a coming "mass extinction." She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see! https://t.co/1tQG6QcVKO — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 24, 2019 In response, Thunberg changed her Twitter bio Tuesday to read, "A very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future." The move...

[snip]"But while personalizing a movement, especially with the innocent face of a child, is usually PR gold, Greta’s ascendancy to the forefront of environmental activism could end up being a major negative to the movement – and the environment."[snip]Her story signals a clear change in environmental movement tactics, and just how much more divisive and ineffective that change is likely to be. Greta, and the adults guiding her, are seeking to shift almost all the focus from personal responsibility to governments and big corporations to enact environmental reform. Their argument is that individual people can’t do much to save the...

Over the next 10-15 years, 29% of all voters believe it is at least somewhat likely that the earth will become uninhabitable and humanity will be wiped out. A ScottRasmussen.com national survey found that 71% disagree and find it unlikely. The totals include 10% who consider it Very Likely and 37% who say Not at All Likely. There is a dramatic difference by age on this question. Half (51%) of voters under 35 believe it is at least somewhat likely humanity will be wiped out in the next decade or so. Only 12% of senior citizens agree (and only 4% of seniors...

The left has gone ballistic over criticism that teen climate-change activist Greta Thunberg resembles some of the Nazi propaganda that was used to turn the world against Jews more than half a century ago. The Swedish 16-year-old, who is skipping school for a year to to protest climate change, charged in a speech at the United Nations on Monday that the adults in the room were stealing her dreams and her childhood. "People are suffering. People are dying. Entire ecosystems are collapsing," she claimed. "We are in the beginning of a mass extinction." Author and filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza noted her...

Climate change activist Greta Thunberg's stare a Donald Trump as he entered the UN has become a social media meme. The Swedish eco-warrior addressed the United Nations Climate Summit in New York on Monday telling delegates 'you have stolen my dreams and my childhood'. The schoolgirl was seen at the UN headquarters yesterday morning with an enraged expression on her face as President Trump upstaged her entrance by walking in flanked by news reporters. She could be seen fiercely staring at the US president as he walked by and into the UN General Assembly. Social media instantly exploded with memes...

Fox News announced that they do not plan on booking Michael Knowles moving forward after he called 16-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg "mentally ill" on the network Monday night. Knowles, who hosts The Michael Knowles Show for the Daily Wire, appeared on Fox News for a segment about climate change and Thunberg's activism. He was accompanied on the show by Chris Hahn, a former aide to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who took exception to Knowles' characterization of the teenager. Fox News no longer plans to bring Knowles on the network anymore, a spokesperson for the cable news station confirmed...

Far-left climate extremist Greta Thunberg had a meltdown while speaking at the United Nations on Monday about climate change, claiming that the state of the world is on the verge of collapse. The Washington Examiner noted that Thunberg "has stage-parents, literally. Her mother sang opera internationally until the teenager convinced her to quit due to greenhouse gas emissions from flying, and her father and grandfather both gained fame through acting and directing." Thunberg repeatedly condemned adults by dramatically saying, "how dare you!" as she warned of a future that she suggested may not even exist due to climate change. "My...

Just something to think about... What IF the country votes Democrat in 2020? Democrat Platform Suggestions for 2020 1 Fred Stevens, a welder, and Joe Frisco, a bartender, neither of whom went to college, will have to pay off the student loans for Eric, an Art History major, and Emma, a Gender Studies major, because they cannot get jobs. (Elizabeth Warren) 2 Yusef Hussein, who killed 23 children by bombing their school, will be allowed to vote from prison. (Bernie Sanders) 3 Grace Thompson, who worked hard for 47 years, must give up her employer furnished medical plan and join...

Happy Monday, folks. What better way to get the American people on your side than by causing their morning work commute to become an even bigger headache by forcing thousands of drivers to sit in stand still traffic. In an attempt to convince climate skeptics that climate change (formally known as global warming until a few predictions by Al Gore didn't pan out) is real, hundreds of leftist protesters are currently demonstrating in the streets of Washington, D.C. by hurling confetti, blocking traffic, and warning about carbon emissions...while at the same time causing motor vehicles to just sit there emitting...

Hundreds of thousands of young people worldwide on Friday are participating in the Global Climate Strike as organizers say it is expected to be the biggest day of protests ever surrounding the issue of climate change. The protests kicked off in Australia, where organizers said more than 300,000 people gathered in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and other cities. Melbourne hosted the largest demonstration, with more than 100,000 climate activists attending, CNN reported the organizers as saying. The strike has been largely organized and shared by 16-year-old Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, who started #FridaysForFuture climate strikes on her own in August 2018...

Climate hoaxer truant Greta Thunberg has dominated the news for the last several days, largely thanks to the fact that none of the adults around her seem to care if she gets an education. In fact, the little spectrum girl finally admitted that her antics are mostly about having an excuse to play hooky from school. Time: “Why should we study for a future that is being taken away from us. That is being sold for profit.” Last month, I wrote that scaring young people into believing that climate change is going to kill them is child abuse. The adults...

This week marks Climate Week 2019. Climate change affects all of us, and each of us can make a difference in our own way, big or small. To show how we can take Climate Action into our own hands, a poster has been hung on the cafeteria wall. Each student and staff member can show commitment to combatting climate change by writing on the poster something they did that day or week to make a positive difference for our planet. We are aiming for 100% participation by the XYZ High School Community. Thank you for your support, and let’s make...

Climate activists blocked major intersections in Washington, D.C. early Monday morning in a show of protest ahead of this week's United Nation's climate summit in New York City. More than 60 countries will attend the summit, which begins today, and activists are seeking to pressure U.S. lawmakers and other world leaders to create legislation that will address climate change. The protest, called Shut Down DC, is loosely associated with the Metro D.C. chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America and Black Lives Matter D.C. According to Reuters, nearly 1,150 people had signed up for the protests on a dedicated web...

Their Shut Down DC effort will be taking place at the same time as the United Nations Climate Action Summit in New York. Protesters have called for “a climate strike and global week of action from September 20th-27th.” The activist groups are encouraging kids to skip school and join them. “We will block key infrastructure to stop business-as-usual, bringing the whole city to a gridlocked standstill,” the event page for the protest reads. “Parents, workers, college students, and everyone who is concerned about the climate crisis will skip work and school and put off their other responsibilities to take action...

There is always a bitter sort of irony in watching videos of the unveiling of a flashy new iPhone on your own scuffed and scratched years-old device. As reviews of the new iPhone 11 rolled in this week — and I watched them on my trusty iPhone SE from 2016 — I almost immediately started doing the math in my head to figure out if I could afford the shiny new phone. But this year's parade of iPhone reviews was a bit different. Where most reviews have traditionally recommended readers upgrade every two years, The New York Times, for example,...

“Even those who care deeply about the planet’s future can slip up now and then. Tell us: Where do you fall short in preventing climate change?†reads the introduction to NBC’s “Climate Confessionsâ€Â project. Many of the responses appear to take the project seriously. One person confessed taking flights to see their son across the country. “I fly to see my son on the west coast. I live on the east,†reads the confession.“I drive to work even though the bus is almost as fast. I often feel I have good excuses,†another person confessed.SNIP  Others appear to have taken the opportunity to troll NBC over...
