Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) defeated Democrat Beto O’Rourke on Nov. 6 and said he would "represent every Texan."

Did nothing of value as Speaker. Didn't discourage at least half of those looking to retire into sticking around another two years where we could have maintained control. He lined up his K Street job and started throwing bombs towards Trump (which he also did a few days before the 2016 election). Trump worked and saved the Senate and made the difference in some key governor races. Tonight was not a Trump defeat. Part of it was history -- midterm election usually results in out of power party winning. But this was winnable. Ryan blew the House. /rant

Lauren Underwood has won the 14th District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, defeating challenger Randy Hultgren, according to returns as reported by the Associated Press. Underwood is a registered nurse and health policy expert. Her top causes as a candidate are access to quality health care for all Americans, the presence of high-paying jobs and a strong local economy, and maintaining the safety and security of northern Illinois families. Hultgren has been the 14th District congressman since 2011. Underwood was endorsed by former President Barack Obama and supported by a Democratic super PAC. The flipping of the 14th...

“Morning prayer Lord send us a revival that will rock the foundations of this nation, let millions come to faith in Jesus Christ and proclaim His name so long and loudly that it cannot be ignored by the godless media and corrupt politicians. Do it Lord, please do it!”

On Tuesday, Democrats and Republicans will compete for the 42nd time in a nonpresidential-year contest -- a rivalry that goes back to 1854. That's the oldest such partisan competition in the world. And despite the complaints of today's Democrats that the Constitution is biased against them, Democrats have won Senate majorities 16 times -- versus 10 times for Republicans -- since senators started being elected by popular vote in 1914. Similarly, in the 164 years of midterm Republican-Democratic House contests, Democrats have won control of the House 24 times, compared with 17 for Republicans. In other words, over the...

Just an account of my voting experience this morning. Arrived 10 minutes before polls opened and there were 50-60 people in line ahead of me. appeared to be a conservative bunch; no one was wearing blatant blue, although I was as a basic tone of my wardrobe. Polling place is a black church, but seemingly a conservative one. Election judge on hand was a man of Hispanic origin with a noticeable accent, so I'm sure that English wasn't his primary language. I noticed several people who didn't appear on the rolls and had some arguments with the election workers. We...

To a benevolent mind there can be no spectacle presented by any nation more pleasing, more noble, majestic, or august than...a government in which the executive authority as well as that of all the branches of the legislature, are exercised by citizens selected at regular periods by their neighbors to make and execute laws for the general good. - John Adams

For many Americans, the Great Recession brought dark days we will never forget – and never want to repeat. It wasn’t long ago that economists told us sluggish growth and flat wages were here to stay. Pundits talked about a “jobless recovery.” And politicians promised hope and change but never delivered. But now, thanks to Republican leadership, the United States has the best economy in the history of our country – and hope has finally returned to cities and towns across America. Since I was elected, we have created 4.5 million new jobs. In the last month alone, we added...

Luther Thought Purgatory was an Open Question? I came across this link posted on the Catholic Answers Forums: The Hope of Eternal Life. The link is ecumenical in nature, an attempt to smooth over the edges between Roman Catholicism and Lutheranism. This is the excerpt that was posted on CAF: 181. The most explicit discussion of purgatory in the Confessions comes in the 1537 Smalcald Articles, II, 2, which addressed the mass as sacrifice. Besides being itself a violation of the Gospel, the mass as sacrifice "has produced many noxious maggots and the excrement of various idolatries" (§11), the first...

President Donald Trump urged supporters Monday morning that while there has been a historic turnaround for the United States under his administration, “it’s all fragile,” and they must get people out to vote. Trump supporters from around the country joined the president and top Trump team figures on a “Lead One Vote to Victory Telephone Town Hall” conference call Monday. The president pointed to what he called perhaps the finest economy America has ever seen, posting massive October jobs numbers despite multiple bad hurricanes. “They’re only going to get better,” he said of the economic numbers. “We have a tremendous...

Been Looking at data from TargetSamart , mostly in the states of GA, FL, TX, CA and CO. In states that are competitive, the Democrats have been turning out "Unmarried, Female, Infrequent Voters". The Republicans have been turning out "Older, Highly Motivated, Male Voters" I know who I thinks going to win ...

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — With one day left before Election Day, more than 5 million voters have already cast ballots in the battleground state of Florida, and records show Democrats have the edge. New statistics released Monday by the state Division of Elections show that nearly 2.7 million people have voted early, and nearly 2.4 million people have voted by mail. Democrats have cast 2.06 million ballots. Republicans have cast 2.04 million. More than 948,000 voters with no party affiliation have also voted. This year's totals far exceed those of 2014 midterms, but are still short of the 6.6 million who voted ahead of Election Day in 2016. Florida's more than 13 million registered voters are choosing a new governor and voting on a pivotal U.S. Senate contest.

The Congressional election polls are all over the map, and we have two days to go before Election Day. Real Clear Politics, the Cook Report, Larry Sabato’s Crystal Ball have outlined anywhere from 40 to 60 Republican-held House Seats in their crosshairs. As expected, they are underreporting GOP opportunities for the US Senate. Republicans have nothing to lose and so much to gain in the upper chamber. How accurate are the polls? How much faith should we place in the website metrics offered by these establishment-leaning pollsters and aggregators? Not much, in my opinion. Granted, that’s an easy argument to...

With voter interest in the midterm elections at historic heights, Democrats opened up a 9-point lead over Republicans on the question of who should control Congress after the midterm elections, while President Donald Trump's approval rating remained unchanged at 40%, according to the latest IBD/TIPP Poll. The two top issues for voters in the midterm elections are the economy and health care, which benefit each party. The poll also found that Trump still hasn't closed the deal with the public on his trade policies. There's no question that the interest in the midterm elections is incredibly high for both Democrats...
