An interesting earthquake swarm is underway about 15 miles east of Area 54 and 25 miles east of Sedan Crater and other 50s and 60s atomic test shots There have been ~90-100 in the past 3 days. Individually, they are of little or no interest. But with that many, I'm getting my tinfoil hat dusted off. To navigate the USGS site to find the area of interest: >Click the settings icon. >Select 7 Days, All Magnitudes US. >Scroll down and select Terrain or Street view. >Close the settings panel. >Move and Zoom the map to the area about 50 miles...

The southeastern United States has been hit by a series of strange unexplained quakes - most recently, the 2011 magnitude-5.8 earthquake near Mineral, Virginia that shook the nation's capital. Researchers have been baffled, believing the areas should be relatively quiet in terms of seismic activity, as it is located in the interior of the North American Plate, far away from plate boundaries where earthquakes usually occur. Now, they believe the quakes could be caused by pieces of the Earth's mantle breaking off and sinking into the planet.

SALMON, Idaho — A man hiking through a national forest in Idaho suffered severe burns and his two dogs were scalded to death when both canines plunged into a hot spring and he jumped in after them to try to save his pets, authorities said on Tuesday. The freak accident occurred last week in the Panther Creek Hot Springs, a popular spot in the sprawling Salmon-Challis National Forest, about 50 miles (80 km) northwest of the tourist town of Salmon in east-central Idaho. Temperatures at Panther Creek, usually mild enough for human bathing, had apparently grown dangerously high, possibly from...

Scientists at the University of Liverpool have discovered that variations in the long-term reversal rate of the Earth's magnetic field may be caused by changes in heat flow from the Earth's core into the base of the overlying mantle. The Earth is made up of a solid inner core, surrounded by a liquid outer core, in turn covered by a thicker or more viscous mantle, and ultimately by the solid crust beneath our feet.

I sometimes recall the early months of 2003 with mixed feelings; I spent most of that late winter and early spring on the road. I like a few went to Baghdad prior to the current war there. Like many others, I warned of the many dangers that come from the folly of this war. Yet still many thought that a war would be good option. I wonder how many would see it as such now. I also wonder what will be said after I complete this little piece. There is a common saying in English it goes a little like...

The Appearance Of The United States Will Change Stephen Hanson Jan. 30, 2005 [21] For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now--and never to be equaled again. [22] If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. Matt. 24 “There is a place that you can run to and hide when the storms come upon this world. There is a place that you will be sheltered from the storms. I tell you that you can run to...

The risk of a landslide in the Canary Islands causing a tidal wave (tsunami) able to devastate America's east coast is vastly overstated. That's according to marine geologists studying ancient landslides in the area In typical Canary Island landslides, chunks of land break off in bits, not in one dramatic plunge, they claim. This contradicts previous warnings that an Isle of Man-sized chunk of land could fall off the island of La Palma into the sea, causing a mega-tsunami.
