Natalie Marmion (ABC affiliate KATU-TV, Portland, Oregon on March 17, 2003): “The announcement that war is close sent the stock market soaring.” Wrong, Miss Information. The President announced that if certain conditions are not met by his chosen deadline, March 19, 2003, his coalition of the willing, whether it includes the troops of two nations or many, will enter Iraq, and shortly close the book on the regime of dictator Saddam Hussein. That is why the stock market soared. What, you ask, is the difference between what you said and what I just said? A grasp of the situation is...

Bjorn Lomborg is author of the book "The Skeptical Environmentalist." Since the book was published in the United States last year, a lot of people have been very critical of Lomborg and his book. That's fine. Healthy debate and disagreement over important issues is essential to the preservation of a free, open, democratic society. Some of Lomborg's critics have politely raised legitimate disagreements about some of Lomborg's statements, such as on Lomborg's statements about global warming, the amount of public land that's covered in forest, and the size of wild fish populations. However, even these polite and civil critics have...

It's time to stop taking the likes of Paul Erlich seriously.

On April 22 we will be celebrating three decades of environmental progress since the first Earth Day in 1970.Our air and water are cleaner, forest growth and food production are increasing, world hunger is decreasing, and the predicted population apocalypse never came. And all this good environmental news has come about because of an increasing economic prosperity that was supposed to doom us to death, disease and environmental destruction.

At any given time, the temperature is either going up, or it's going down. It never stays the same. 30 years ago, all of the major environmentalists and environmental groups were 100% sure that global cooling was on the way. They were just so sure that it was coming. Their proposed "solution" was to have the government set limits on economic growth, limits on the use of natural resources and fossil fuels, and other government restrictions on economic activity. We ignored their advice. Since then, the world GNP has more than doubled, and we burn a lot more fossil fuels...

1975 Newsweek article on global cooling. http://www.globalclimate.org/Newsweek.htm FROM Newsweek April 28, 1975 The Cooling World There are ominous signs that the Earth’s weather patterns have begun to change dramatically and that these changes may portend a drastic decline in food production– with serious political implications for just about every nation on Earth. The drop in food output could begin quite soon, perhaps only 10 years from now. The regions destined to feel its impact are the great wheat-producing lands of Canada and the U.S.S.R. in the North, along with a number of marginally self-sufficient tropical areas – parts of India,...
