Already bracing for funding cuts under a new Trump administration, U.S. Treasury officials are calling on Congress to unlock $20 billion in IRS enforcement money that is tied up in legislative language that has effectively rendered the money frozen.Hoping to unlock the funds in upcoming budget negotiations, Treasury officials are rushing for action before President Joe Biden's term ends. The $20 billion in question is separate from another $20 billion rescinded from the agency last year. However, the legislative mechanism keeping the government afloat inadvertently duplicated the one-time cut. There would be 6,000 fewer audits of wealthy individuals and 2,000 fewer...

The IRS agent union today endorsed Kamala Harris for President. “She supports the issues that matter most to our members,” said the IRS agent union president. No doubt. As Vice President, Harris cast the deciding vote to supersize the IRS, breaking the 50-50 Senate tie on the costly “Inflation Reduction Act” legislation. And the Harris-proposed tax increases will kill jobs in the private sector but create jobs for IRS agents. Agents certainly appreciate her call to make the IRS even larger and more powerful if she wins the presidency. Agents will be hired and deployed to implement the $5 trillion...

The Biden administration announced Wednesday that it will make $4.6 billion available to help states, localities and tribes implement their climate plans. The funds represent the bulk of a $5 billion effort under the Inflation Reduction Act to help local and state governments cut their greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution. The administration has already put an additional $250 million to help them develop the plans. Biden administration officials told reporters that four states — Florida, Iowa, Kentucky and South Dakota — declined to participate; major metropolitan areas in those states did receive planning grants.

@lukerosiak IRS targeted a conservative economist with the 'largest tax investigation in the world' but came up empty. Then leaked its investigation to the media, which offered his policy views on taxes as evidence of guilt. Then authorities cited 'negative press' to close his bank.
  • The IRS Makes Another House Call

…Jim Jordan demands answers about a bizarre and disturbing IRS house call…. a Marion, Ohio, taxpayer received a visit from a man who claimed his name was “Bill Haus” and worked in the IRS criminal division. Mr. Haus said he needed to talk to her about an estate... She let him in despite having received no prior IRS communication. Mr. Haus claimed she had not properly filled out estate forms and owed the IRS “a substantial amount.” Only when the taxpayer presented proof of paying all taxes on the estate did the agent reveal that his visit wasn’t about the...
  • IRS 'is developing new Biden-backed algorithm that'll see more white and Asian people targeted for tax audits

A conservative legal group is accusing the Biden administration of directing the Internal Revenue Service to audit more white and Asian Americans in an effort to boost 'equity.' The America First Legal Foundation, a nonprofit that seeks to fight executive overreach, filed a Freedom of Information Act request on Tuesday claiming that an executive order President Biden signed last week encourages the IRS to alter its algorithms to audit more white and Asian taxpayers — and fewer black taxpayers. Though the Executive Order on Further Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through The Federal Government does not specifically...
  • Biden’s Supersized IRS Will Spread Out More Audits For White People, Incoming Commissioner Promises

Good news, everyone: Joe Biden’s nominee to head the IRS has promised to make tax audits more racially “equitable”! In other words, get ready for more shakedowns from the government, white people. Hooray! It was bad enough that Biden just infused nearly $100 billion into an agency despised by anyone trying to make an honest living — we’re the ones most likely to be harassed by it — but now it comes with the added insult of “equity,” a term that should be greeted like a real pandemic. Draw the blinds, close the shutters, and lock the doors. Daniel Werfel,...
  • IRS to Launch Nationwide 'Security Review,' Blaming 'Congressional Republicans and Far-Right Extremists'

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is wasting no time responding to criticisms and concerns that the misnamed "Inflation Reduction Act" will provide funding to help grow and weaponize the agency. On Tuesday, The Washington Post's Jacob Bogage reported that "IRS launches safety review after right-wing threats." The focus on blaming those on the right isn't merely in the headline, but is also in Bogage's sub headline, which reads that "Republicans in Congress are repeating baseless claims long made by extremists, experts say, potentially putting federal workers in danger."
