Cook County lost more people between 2000 and 2005 than any county in the nation, according to Census Bureau estimates released Thursday that also show continued gains in suburban and exurban counties across the region and portions of the nation. The new figures--based on administrative records and estimates for births, deaths and net migration--show the county lost more than 73,000 people, or 1.4 percent, since the last official count in April 2000. I just heard on an Akron radio station that two women volunteers at the Cuyahoga County Bush Victory Center were assaulted by thugs from ACORN, 50 of whom descended on the Headquarters to 'protest.'One woman was hit in the stomach, and the other in the arm and the leg. I also heard that charges would be pressed.This has got to STOP!If anyone has more details, please post them here.....

CLEVELAND - The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections said the woman in charge of the absentee ballots resigned, NewsChannel5 reported. Board of Elections Director Michael Vu said Sondra Robinson did not say why she was resigning. Robinson worked for the board of elections for three years.

More trouble brewing in Ohio: Reader Evan Rogers sent us this absentee ballot from Cuyahoga County (Cleveland). Looking at the ballot, one would assume that to vote for President Bush, you'd punch out the green square opposite the arrow. Nope. The right square for Bush is the red one, number four, near the top of the column. That corresponds, I guess, to the number 4 next to the arrow, and I assume that voters are instructed in what those numbers mean.
