Demonstrators flooded the streets of Washington, D.C., Saturday following a recent spate of school shootings with signs opposing everything from the Second Amendment to the National Rifle Association to the millions of Americans who own guns. Activists carried poster boards at March For Our Lives rallies across the country suggesting lawmakers ban guns like they “ban boobs.” Activists were also distraught that guns supposedly have more rights than their uteruses. The rallies come after a Feb. 14 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that killed 17 people.

The rallies were mass events, attended by hundreds of thousands. Children – the Hitler Youth – were prominently featured, along with stagecraft and pageantry. The purpose of the rallies was to whip the masses into an emotional fervor while Hitler denounced the Jews. It worked. And something similar is happening in the recent spate of children's anti-gun marches, typified by the "March for Our Lives" just concluded in Washington, D.C. The probability of getting struck by lightning is about the same as getting murdered by someone wielding a rifle. But you wouldn't know that by listening to the demagogic (and...

Late-night talk show host Jimmy Fallon teamed up with MTV and the NAACP to send busloads of protesters to take part in Saturday’s student march for gun control. MTV announced that it had joined the left-wing civil rights group and a list of celebrities, including Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, and NBA star Carmelo Anthony, to send “17 busloads of youth” to the gun control march kicking off:

Earlier in the week, I highlighted some polling data indicating that support for various gun control measures is on the rise -- and that public attitudes are shifting toward the general notion that guns, not mental health or beefed up security, should be the focus on public policy to prevent mass shootings. Well, let's look at another fresh data point in this larger national debate, via NBC News and the Wall Street Journal's pollster. Are Americans becoming more hostile to the idea that gun ownership makes people safer? They are not: Unlike the numbers I showcased a few days ago,...

Bank of America further solidified its corporate position in favor of gun control after sponsoring an anti-gun discussion hosted by Axios on Friday. Axios co-founder Mike Allen facilitated the talk between activist and Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student David Hogg and Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut. The event, held in Washington, D.C., occurred at 8 a.m. and had no outside sponsors beside BoA. Despite the fact that it was billed as a conversation “on gun safety in America,” there was virtually no disagreement between Hogg and Blumenthal on policy. Allen asked Hogg what “the biggest mistake the media...

The U.S. House of Representatives passed the STOP School Violence Act with overwhelming bipartisan support Wednesday afternoon. Florida Reps. John Rutherford (R) and Ted Deutch (D) introduced the bill prior to the shooting in Parkland, Florida, and Rutherford addressed the media following Wednesday’s vote. “The action that the House just took, I think, is an important first help forward in protecting our children, our teachers and other administrators within our schools,” Rutherford stated. “Because it’s going to not only harden the target through technology, but most importantly, I believe, it’s going to provide the tools and education needed...” “Violence at...

Ah, Baltimore. The other city that never sleeps, primarily because its homicide rate is the highest in the country. Also interestingly, it’s a city big on gun control. How could a city with strict gun laws have such a high murder rate? I thought having more firearm laws would save lives. But true to the form of the insane, Baltimore is going to keep pushing forward with the idea that doesn’t work and promote gun restrictions by busing school children to Washington D.C. in order to participate in the March for Our Lives event this month. Not just a class,...

When the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act was first introduced in January of 2017, it quickly garnered support from a number of Republicans in the House of Representatives, but this was not an indication of how the average American gun owner feels about the controversial legislation. The bill's creator, Rep. Richard Hudson, justified the Reciprocity Act by saying, "Our Second Amendment right doesn't disappear when we cross state lines, and this legislation guarantees that." For libertarians, this bill is not a matter of our Second Amendment right; rather, it's a matter of federal overreach. Under Concealed Carry Reciprocity, state gun laws...

College is a bit of a safety net between being under your parents' roof in high school to living completely on your own as an adult. Students are on their own for the first time and learning about themselves. It's an exciting time but it's also an extremely scary time. You're fresh out of high school, you're leaving behind your family and moving to a new place. To make things even worse, one Ivy League college has decided to change how students' roommates are chosen. Beginning this fall, Duke University will no longer allow incoming freshman students to room...

In the history of protests, there is probably nothing less inspiring than a high-schooler refusing to go to school. It's as if the children threatened not to eat their vegetables; or as if a bad Catholic, upset with the bedrock teachings of the Church, refused to go to Mass. You can refuse any number of things, but you can't refuse in the most fun way possible, and if you refuse your food, the response of your "oppressors" should be then don't eat your food. It's your life, and should you choose to ruin it by getting skinny or playing hookey,...

1) Obama thinks Google, Facebook, etc., are "a public good as well as a commercial enterprise," and should consider whether they are corroding our democracy. Obama described social media platforms as a "hugely powerful potential force for good," but then immediately hedged. "... I do think the large platforms—Google and Facebook being the most obvious, Twitter and others as well, are part of that ecosystem—have to have a conversation about their business model that recognizes they are a public good as well as a commercial enterprise...." "Essentially we now have entirely different realities that are being created with not just...

Missouri has no illegal's; go figure... Shouldn't the other states do the same? Missouri's approach to the problem of illegal immigration appears to be more advanced, sophisticated, strict and effective than anything to date in Arizona . Does the White House appreciate what Missouri has done? So, why doesn't Missouri receive attention? Answer: There are no illegal's in Missouri to demonstrate. The "Show Me" state has again shown us how it should be done. There needs to be more publicity and exposure regarding what Missouri has done. Please pass this around. In 2007, Missouri placed on the ballot a proposed...

Gun Control...The True Story of Innocents Betrayed (58 min. video) Governments have historically deprived people of firearms ... and then wiped them from the face of the earth. This is the true story of Gun control from around the world, especially in the 20th century. It details how governments have ALWAYS BEEN the biggest threat to the safety, security and prosperity of the people. While Americans can see how this could happen in other countries, most can't EVER image it being able to happen here because there are so many rights guaranteed by the constitution. But that ONLY when...

"I’m a female in my early 30’s in a european country where guns are absolutely forbidden. "Whenever I talk to my friends and express my opinion about firearms they get ballistic and enraged about my views, calling me all sorts and seeing me as a paranoid monster who contributes with my views to gun related deaths and crimes. I think it makes them feel more sophisticated to hate arms. "The general ideology here is that guns are bad and it’s good they are forbidden for own sake. "But I don’t understand why I don’t have the right to protect...

My recent columns have focused on the extremely poor educational outcomes for black students. There's enough blame for all involved to have their fair share. That includes students who are hostile and alien to the educational process and have derelict, uninterested home environments. After all, if there is not someone in the home to ensure that a youngster does his homework, has wholesome meals, gets eight to 10 hours of sleep and behaves in school, educational dollars won't produce much. There's another educational issue that's neither flattering nor comfortable to confront. That's the low academic quality of so many teachers....

Most of the time, Chris Coon is a mild-mannered, low-key pastor at Urban Village Church in Chicago. But when the collar comes off and the running shorts—and especially a race bib—go on, the 49-year-old turns into a different person. An angry one. The things that stoke his ire? Poor race organization. Course volunteers who don’t direct runners at turns. And cars, especially those that don’t yield the right of way or even acknowledge his presence in an intersection. Not only does anger bubble up more frequently when he’s running, he says, he’s also more likely to act on it. “I’ve flipped...

Former congresswoman Gabby Giffords's gun control group released a report on Wednesday warning of the dangers of muzzle loading rifles, a number of other firearms, and some firearms accessories and calling for new gun control measures targeting the devices.

I see this having a huge unintended consequence: the creation of "factory high-rate semi-autos", rifles that _come_ with bump stocks, gatling cranks, other creative mechanical solutions capable of out-of-box pushing the physical limits of how fast a semi-auto can be "fired". The buyer can then either remove the annoying high-rate device and use it normally, or just enjoy the popularization of a new exciting category of firearm. They haven't even had the first vote on it, and already we're cooking up workarounds and marketing methods.

Under the guise of protecting religious freedom and moral sensibilities, the Trump administration is making it harder for women to get access to birth control. On Friday, it rolled back an Obama-era rule requiring most employers to provide their employees with birth control coverage without co-payments. The mandate, established under the Affordable Care Act, has helped millions of women avoid unwanted pregnancy by eliminating out-of-pockets costs for contraception. Under new rules, the Departments of Health and Human Services, Treasury and Labor will make it easier for employers to deny contraception coverage if they have a “religious or moral objection” to...
