New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy on Friday ordered that the Mississippi flag, which carries a Confederate emblem, be replaced by the American flag at a state park that overlooks the Statue of Liberty. A Black Lives Matter activist who made headlines after video of him wrestling a Confederate flag out the the hands of a protester in Charleston, South Carolina went viral, was shot and killed in New Orleans Tuesday. A spokesperson with the New Orleans police department confirmed the death of 32-year-old Muhiyidin Moye, who went by Muhiyidin d'Baha, to NBC News in an email Wednesday. A 44-year-old white female has been arrested in Charleston for a criminal rampage over a novelty Confederate flag license plate. It took place yesterday at the Charleston Battery, a popular area for tourists. Lee Ann Walters is accused of tearing a novelty license plate off of a truck. Then she backed into the driver, causing a knee injury, and fled the scene. Witnesses say she nearly wrecked her car into concrete pylons trying to flee. She had children in the car with her.
