Facebook announced that the Committee to Defend the President will not be allowed to advertise on its platform. Facebook Policy communications director Andy Stone explained that "we have a duty to prevent misinformation from using our platform to promulgate falsehoods. Inasmuch as our fact checkers have determined that Trump is indefensible, the PAC's name alone justifies the ban." "It is also likely that the PAC's ads would say negative things about Joe Biden and the Democratic Party," Stone said. "No one at Facebook believes these things could be true. So, to prevent voters who rely on our platform from being...

Nearly all GOP Senators and top officials at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) are quietly backing the S.386 outsourcing bill pushed by Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), according to Hill sources. “There isn’t a single Republican in the U.S. Senate that will stand up against outsourcers,” said an advocate for more legal immigration. “I don’t think the GOP is going block the bill,” a Hill source said.

<SNIP> For example, the Northern California Regional Intelligence Center has 29,114 accounts, and each one includes a full name; rank; police department or agency; email address; home address,; cellphone number; supervisor’s name, rank, and email address; the IP address used to create the account; and a password hash — a cryptographic representation of the user’s password (hashed with 1,000 iterations of PBKDF2 and a 24-byte salt, if you’re that kind of nerd). If a user’s password is weak, hackers with access to its hash could crack it to recover the original password, potentially leading to a giant list of all...

A few years ago a contested news report alleged that Twitter took steps to decrease the reach of conservative users on its website, President Donald Trump seized upon the claim and contended that such a move constitutes illegal discrimination, even as the company and digital experts defended the platform and pointed to faults and misunderstandings in the story. The controversy originated with a Vice News article that claimed Twitter was “shadow banning” notable Republican accounts by limiting their appearance in its automatically populating search suggestions. Among those purportedly affected by the practice included Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel, Freedom...

The Facebook page of a young mom who was shot dead after she said: 'All lives matter' to a group of Black Lives Matter supporters in Indiana has been flooded with hateful messages from trolls. Jessica Doty Whitaker, 24, was killed early on the morning of July 5 while out on a walk with her fiancé, Jose Ramirez, and two friends in Indianapolis. Ramirez said someone in their group used a 'slang version of the N-word' before they were confronted by strangers passing by and an argument broke out.

Reddit banned a subreddit dedicated to tracking alleged hate crime hoaxes on the same day the platform removed a subreddit in June devoted to President Donald Trump. Reddit users who keep tabs on potential hate crime hoaxes via the popular subreddit are met with a label notifying them that “r/hatecrimehoaxes has been banned from Reddit.” The page also notes that the page was banned for “violating Reddit’s rule against promoting hate.”

Breaking News: President Trump commuting the sentence of Roger Stone...... How about "revenue raisers" or in plain language "higher taxes" to deal with tax revenue shortfalls and recovery from the coronavirus situation? Government officials across the country beginning to broach the subject. Among them New Jersey's Governor Phil Murphy..... A Kentucky judge's order putting a cloud over Democrat Governor Andy Beshear's mask (muzzle) order..... “Hushpuppi,” a Nigerian scammer suspected of trying to launder hundreds of millions of dollars, was taken into FBI custody in Chicago on Thursday evening. Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, a.k.a. “Ray Hushpuppi” and “Hush,” a Nigerian national, had just been expelled from the United Arab Emirates for various suspected crimes after his arrest last week. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says that Abbas will face criminal charges “alleging he conspired to launder hundreds of millions of dollars from business email compromise (BEC) frauds and other scams, including schemes targeting a U.S. law firm, a foreign bank and an English Premier League soccer club.”...

The advertising boycott battering Facebook is unlike anything the social-media giant has faced in its 16-year history: Three days in, 800 companies worldwide have pulled millions of dollars in advertising from the social network, with brands from Coca-Cola to Ford to global conglomerate Unilever demanding that Facebook monitor hate speech more aggressively. With pullouts mounting and the company’s name constantly tied to racism and hate in the news coverage, CEO Mark Zuckerberg responded by live-streaming part of an employee meeting — one of the few times he’s done that in the company’s history. Then, on Wednesday, Facebook’s powerhouse policy and...

A couple of weeks ago we had a good discussion on Starlink the new space based internet service being developed by SpaceX, one of Elon Musk's companies. A place you could sign up for possibly becoming a public beta tester was talked about. I would really love to see this service come close to living up to the promises it's making. Another launch of 60 satellites is set for July 10 I think..... Here is a link to a you tube video that is quite informative, the end of the video is marketing BS, but the first 2/3's is pretty...

As many of you already know we learned last week that Visa blacklisted Gab and we are now unable to process credit and debit card transactions. We learned more information this week and I think it’s important that I share it as a warning for others. It’s not just Gab that is blacklisted. It’s also my family. In China there is something called the Social Credit System, which was developed by the Communist Chinese Party as a “national reputation system.” This system tracks the “trustworthiness” of individuals, businesses, and organizations. “Trustworthiness” here means total and complete submission to the Chinese...

U.S. employers keep roughly 600,000 foreign H-1B visa workers in jobs throughout the United States, according to an unprecedented report released by the Department of Homeland Security’s U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services agency. The total number of resident H-1B workers has successfully been kept secret for decades, mainly because Fortune 500 companies do not want voters to recognize the massive outsourcing of jobs for themselves and their college graduate children.
