Nuclear processes in solids: basic 2nd-order processes P´eter K´alm´an∗ and Tam´as Keszthelyi Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Institute of Physics, Budafoki ´ut 8. F., H-1521 Budapest, Hungary (Date textdate; Received textdate; Revised textdate; Accepted textdate; Published textdate) Abstract Nuclear processes in solid environment are investigated. It is shown that if a slow, quasi-free heavy particle of positive charge interacts with a ”free” electron of a metallic host, it can obtain such a great magnitude of momentum in its intermediate state that the probability of its nuclear reaction with an other positively charged, slow, heavy particle can significantly increase....

13 things that do not make sense - space - 19 March 2005 - New Scientist Mark Gibbs Mon, 04 Mar 2013 19:44:58 -0800 http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg18524911.600-13-things-that-do-not-make-sense.html?full=true And #13 is ... [m] 13 Cold fusion AFTER 16 years, it's back. In fact, cold fusion never really went away. Over a 10-year period from 1989, US navy labs ran more than 200 experiments to investigate whether nuclear reactions generating more energy than they consume - supposedly only possible inside stars - can occur at room temperature. Numerous researchers have since pronounced themselves believers. With controllable cold fusion, many of the world's energy problems...

Nuclear fusion from Google, Lockheed, Draper Fisher By Mark Halper | February 15, 2013, 5:25 AM PST X marks a spot of fusion. Charles Chase describes how Lockheed Martin's fusion device trumps huge government fusion projects in this photograph by venture capitalist Steve Jurvetson from a Google "Solve for X" event last week. – A well-known venture capitalist has his eye on one of the biggest and most elusive prizes of our times: nuclear fusion. And the “skunkworks” project he’s eyeing is not from some stealth startup or academic lab. Rather, it’s under development at aerospace company Lockheed Martin and...

[Vo]:Gizmag: "NASA's basement reactor" Mark GibbsThu, 21 Feb 2013 10:15:58 -0800 BTW, did everyone see the Gizmag article "NASA's basement reactor" ( http://m.gizmag.com/article/26309). It's a bit fluffy and hand-waving but I was intrigued by this section: According to Zawodny, LENR isn’t what was thought of as cold fusion and it doesn't involve strong nuclear forces. Instead, it uses weak nuclear forces, which are responsible for the decay of subatomic particles. The LENR process involves setting up the right conditions to turn these weak forces into energy. Instead of using radioactive elements like uranium or plutonium, LENR uses a lattice...

Don't look for any cold fusion powered cars or water heaters. However this is an excellent article about one theory that purports to explain what LENR is and how it supposedly produces excess heat. The article deals with some of the background infighting over the spoils that come later. This is last part of the article and I think the most interesting: (Bushnell is a NASA scientist) "Unless Bushnell wants to suggest that he is privy to classified information, his suggestion of a slow-acting LENR experiment with extremely high-heat production that would melt windows is not believable. Bushnell also does...

Trolls win: Rude blog comments dim the allure of science online February 14, 2013 http://phys.org/news/2013-02-trolls-rude-blog-comments-dim.html The trolls are winning. Pick a story about some aspect of science, any story, scroll down to the blog comments and let the bashing begin. "Wonder how much taxpayer cash went into this 'deep' study?” “I think you can take all these studies by pointy headed scientists, 99 percent of whom are socialists and communists, and stick them where the sun don't shine.” “Yawn. Climate change myth wackos at it again.” “This article is 100 percent propaganda crapola.” “Speaking of dolts, if you were around...

RE: [Vo]:Bose-Einstein condensate created at room temperature Jones Beene Thu, 07 Feb 2013 11:13:22 -0800 Yes they can. In fact this could be important for LENR, should it be broad enough to include other boson quasiparticles, such as the magnon. The definitions are similar: polaritons are quasiparticles resulting from strong coupling of electromagnetic waves with an electric or magnetic dipole-carrying excitation. The magnon could be imagined to be the subset of that - where the coupling is only magnetic. However, it may be only a partial subset with other features included. Polaritons describe the dispersion of light (photons) with an...

MIT IAP Course on Cold Fusion 1.01 - Brief Summaries of Week 1 and 2 Jan. 28, 2013 - On day 5, Dr. Mitchell Swartz continued with the substantial experimental proof for cold fusion (lattice assisted nuclear reactions). After discussion of the materials involved in the desired reactions, he surveyed the methods of calibration of heat producing reactions including the copious controls, time-integration, thermal waveform reconstruction, noise measurement and additional techniques, as well as those methods which are not accurate. Many examples of excess heat generated by CF/LANR systems were shown, using aqueous nickel and palladium systems. Then using the...

Recent observations prove revisions might be necessary for long support theory Data gathered by a team at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NSIT) suggest that certain aspects of the highly regarded quantum electrodynamics theory might require some revising.Observations made with the NSITÂ’s electron beam ion trap have led to questions regarding the accuracy of the quantum electrodynamics theory. What the group discovered, via the NSITÂ’s Electron Beam Ion Trap, is that ions with a strongly positive charge can display electrons that behave in ways inconsistent with what the theory suggests should happen. About the quantum electrodynamics theory The...

While the year 2011 will be remembered for the remarkable progress in cold fusion achieved in Italy and more particularly by the E-cat reactors of Andrea Rossi, the year 2012 will be remembered for the slow progress of its recognition by the mainstream establishments. Cold fusion, known also as LENR, is a new and safer type of nuclear energy that will rival the currently used unsafe nuclear power. Its advantages are unparalleled: a lack of radioactive waste and byproducts that could be used for a weapon; abundance of fuel (nickel) without the need for mining of radioactive uranium with the...

Dec. 7, 2012 – By Steven B. Krivit – Researchers from Toyota Central Research and Development Laboratories performed an independent replication of a Mitsubishi low-energy nuclear reaction transmutation experiment, according to a physicist from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries speaking at the American Nuclear Society LENR session on Nov. 14 in San Diego, Calif. The physicist, Yasuhiro Iwamura, told the ANS audience that the Toyota researchers confirmed that nuclear changes from one element to another took place without the use of high-energy nuclear physics. Most scientists who have not followed this field closely consider such profound claims inconceivable. Toyota used a LENR...

U.S. institutional politics, government agencies, and academic science have been caught in denial so strident they’re now shouting “no” while stark raving naked. The nakedness is because of Low Energy Nuclear Reactions or LENR, or an evolution of the famed cold fusion. The intellectual embarrassment is tattooed to the naysayers forever and disqualifies many people. Steve Krivit reports from behind his paywall physicist Yasuhiro Iwamura from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries that researchers at Toyota Central Research and Development Laboratories performed an independent replication of a Mitsubishi low-energy nuclear reaction transmutation experiment. Iwamura spoke of the replication at the American Nuclear Society’s...

Cold Fusion Pioneer says LENR is not Fusion Published November 20, 2012. | By jennifer. The man who invented the term “cold fusion” now says that the effect popularly described as cold fusion or low energy nuclear reaction (LENR) is not fusion. Professor Emeritus Steven E. Jones told Sterling D. Allan of Pure Energy Systems that he’s not sure what to call the effect. Jones is the man who came up with the term cold fusion in a Scientific American article in July 1987. Jones was actually researching the phenomenon two full years before Pons and Fleischmann put it on...

Cold fusion, otherwise called Low Energy Nuclear Reaction (LENR), is, theoretically, the fusing together (rather than a chemical reaction) of elements at “normal” temperatures such that they release more energy than is required to fuse them. This is an idea that is incredibly appealing because if it could be achieved it would provide mankind with, again in theory, incredibly cheap energy. In practice, there could be drawbacks such as pollution and radiation but until cold fusion is actually demonstrated and developed, no one knows. Hot fusion, on the other hand, is the process by which elements would be fused together...

Hydrofusion today issued the following press release on their web site: Hydro Fusion witnessed a new independent test of the high temperature ECAT prototype reactor on September 6th in Bologna. Although no full report has yet been received, early indications are that the results of the July 16th/August 7th reports could not be reproduced. Hydro Fusion cannot at this stage support any claims made, written or other, about the amount of excess heat generated by the new high temperature ECAT prototype

Short article from Sterling D. Allan from PESN.com: Last night, Andrea Rossi read and explained the third party tests that were done in July on his hot cat technology. The results evince outputs that approach nuclear in their power density and peak output levels. I'm presently attending the conference, so I'm not able to compose a report on this excellent E-Cat conference. That will come later. But for now, I thought you would like to see the video I shot last night. Here's the video I took of last night's presentation that Andrea Rossi gave at the E-Cat conference in...

I am refining this continuously so please be patient and make comments if you would like! I am still adding references so I will not leave anyone out. This includes but is not limited to publications from Mr. Ed Storms, Mr. Celani, Mr. Hagelstein, Mr. Ahern and others. Please be patient as I have learned alot these past couple of years from everyone, especially...
