Berkeley, Calif., has always been considered a Mecca for hippies. Their staunch anti-war views and liberalism have been allowed to flourish there, and when the Marines opened up a recruiting station in the heart of Berkeley, the women who belonged to CODEPINK began choking on their vanilla lattes and vegan muffins. According to its Web site, CODEPINK "is a women-initiated grassroots peace and social justice movement working to end the war in Iraq, stop new wars and redirect our resources into health care, education and other life-affirming activities." While I may believe in some of their viewpoints, the insanity they...

The Berkeley Chamber of Commerce has heard from individuals far and wide regarding recent Berkeley City Council actions and we appreciate that the American spirit is alive and robust. The business community was not notified of pending city council action, nor asked for input. We ask everyone to try to separate the actions of the City Council and not harm the good, hard-working small business owners - most of whom do not live in Berkeley and therefore cannot vote in Berkeley. Additionally, we believe that the Berkeley City Council owes an apology to the community and others, whether they be...

BERKELEY, Calif. (KCBS) -- Protesters have returned to the Berkeley Marines recruiting center just a day after a showdown between anti-war and pro-military demonstrators before the Berkeley City Council. This time, several dozen members of the peace group CodePink urged people to make love, not war. The Berkeley demonstration is one of 20 “Kiss Don’t Enlist” protests across the country. ”Polls show that the majority of Americans are opposed to the war, and this has given people a chance to really come out and show that. And it’s kind of fun to make out, instead of making war, right?” said...

On Tuesday, February 8, 2008, the Berkeley City Council admitted they made a mistake when they passed a law declaring that the U.S. Marine recruiting office was not wanted in Berkeley. They said that the Marines were "unwelcome intruders and should abandon their posts". Adding insult to injury, they gave a coveted parking space directly in front of the Marine recruiting office, to Code Pink. This was interpreted as encouraging Code Pink to continue their repulsive protests. The Berkeley City Council did not anticipate the national reaction, as people across America were infuriated at their contempt for our Military. A...

BERKELEY, Calif. (Feb. 13) - City council members who were criticized for telling Marine recruiters they don't belong here have moderated their position, saying they oppose the Iraq war but support the troops. The Berkeley City Council voted two weeks ago to send a letter to a downtown recruitment station advising the Marines they were not welcome. After a marathon session that stretched into early Wednesday, the council decided against sending the letter, saying it recognizes recruiters' right to be in Berkeley. The council members say they still strongly oppose the war and the recruitment of young people, but "deeply...

The tireless Melanie Morgan of Move America Forward, who spearheaded the protests and backlash, shares details of the outrageous behavior of the Pinkos–and the Berkeley police force: If I were a headline writer I would describe the situation as CHAOS AND ANARCHY IN BERKELEY today. Not by our side –by the Marine haters and American traitors. The cops were openly hostile toward the people who showed up at 5:00 a.m., never stepping in to protect the patriots from the assaults that took place against elderly folks, Gold Star parents, Blue Star families and Joe and Jane Citizen who were waving...

Berkeley Cops refuse to help Patriots under assault in MLK Park. This just sent to us from Catherine Moy of Move America Forward: Berkeley erupted in violence Tuesday morning when the Communist, terrorist-supporting anti-war group crossed into Martin Luther King Park and assaulted pro-troop individuals. Riot police stood by, but did not stop the assaults. Police agencies did not respond to calls for help. Move America Forward, the nation’s largest pro-troop organization, received permits from the City of Berkeley to hold a daylong demonstration in MLK park against the City Council who passed three outrageous resolutions calling U.S. Marines “unwanted...
