Walter Reed FReep #108 - A Really Noisy Night!Washington, DC, May 11, 2007 -- Honks, honks, and more honks! Even a pedestrian walking by said "If I had a car I'd be honking." It's an amazing thing to see (hear) so much support for a patriotic display in such a liberal town! I don't think it was just the excellent weather but a very real appreciation for the men and women living and working inside Walter Reed. Here are a few images from the celebration (the whole collection can be viewed here.) Craig from DC* and BillF Tom the...

John Edwards spokesman, Iraq war veteran John Bruhns, has been defending the Edwards presidential campaign from criticism over Edwards' call for people to protest the Iraq war at Memorial Day parades.Appearing via telephone on the Fox News Channel's 'Big Story with John Gibson', Bruhns said that the Edwards campaign is backing away from the call to publicly protest the war at parades and is instead asking supporters to send care packages and to reflect on the war. While Bruhns said that he himself did not support Edwards' call to protest at Memorial Day parades, he failed to mention that he has...

EUGENE, Ore. - Their guilt isn't in question. The six men and four women already admitted being involved in a series of arson fires that did $40 million in damage to research facilities, a ski resort and other businesses in the West. But are they terrorists as the government says? A federal judge was set to hear arguments Tuesday on a motion by the government to add a so-called terrorism enhancement to their sentences. Prosecutors want Judge Ann Aiken to declare the group terrorists — something defense attorneys argue has never happened in 1,200 arsons nationwide claimed by Earth Liberation...

While most of us spent Mothers Day with our mothers and our children, the childless-by-choice old hags of Code Pink spent the day breaking the law in Washington, DC. (To be accurate, a couple of the old hags are mothers, but most are not.) Their first stop of the day was on the National Mall, where military equipment was on display. Medea Benjamin was in town for the weekend. Here, she imagines American soldiers in her sights: After that, the group of America haters "took control" of a tank, to hang their banners from: Gael Murphy stood on the ground...

Antiwar activists from around the country will celebrate Mothers Day by converging on Washington, DC, where they will demand Congress end the U.S. occupation of Iraq. Five days of activism, sponsored by the women-for-peace group CODEPINK and "peace mom" Cindy Sheehan's Gold Star Families for Peace, will culminate in what organizers call a "Mother of a March" on May 14. "We want to get people out and get them active," said Tina Richards of Salem, Missouri. "We're getting in the way [and saying] no more business as usual until you pass legislation that brings our troops home and takes care...

The FReep got off to an early start because about a dozen milbloggers attending the Milblog Conference in Arlington VA came at about 5:30. tgslTakoma was good enough to arrive early so as to provide signs, banners, and flags for the milbloggers. Unfortunantely they were only able to stay for an hour, so when I arrived at my usual time of 6:30 they had to get back to their conference. No matter, because enough of the "regulars" were on the scene to take over their duties. We appreciate their presence and a huge THANK YOU for starting things off that...

The Politico reported on Monday that a Democrat Congressman demanded that the notorious terrorist supporting Marxist front group Code Pink be allowed to attend the classified House briefing by Gen. Petraeus last week.According to an unnamed Republican who participated in the meeting, Rep. Hank Johnson, Jr. stunned the panel by demanding an explanation for why the Code Pink protesters just outside the closed hearing room weren't allowed inside. His fellow Democrats had to set him straight and his demand was rejected.Johnson is a freshman who defeated Code Pink ally Cynthia McKinney in a primary run-off last August. Even though Code...

Hear Hillary's explanation about voting to go to war in Iraq. This is before she knew what she knows now although she says in the video she has been following the situation in Iraq for more than a decade. Who knew President Bush was duping her from 1993 onward--before he was even President! Darn he's got some powers.

Chaos erupted Wednesday outside a House briefing with Army Gen. David Petraeus, the U.S. military commander on the ground in Iraq. Protestors thronged the halls of the Rayburn House Office Building outside the committee room where Petraeus is briefing members of Congress. The assembled protestors, which included members of Code Pink, shouted for members to bring U.S. troops home from Iraq as the lawmakers entered the room. Then, Rep. Duncan Hunter of California, the ranking Republican on the House Armed Services Committee, called on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) to resign after suggesting the war in Iraq “is lost.”...

Last night at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, the D.C. Chapter of Free Republic was paid a visit by a film crew from French-Canadian TV 3 out of Quebec. The crew was there working on a story about Code Pink and they came up from the Pinkos' spot in front of Walter Reed to get our views on the war in Iraq.Gael Murphy led a contingent of Pinkos up the block to our permitted area at the main gate so she could get some footage of the Pinkos 'dialoguing' with the Freepers for the film crew. One of the Pinkos called...

The moon may have been full last week, but I'm thinking there must have been a delayed effect on the Code Pink moonbats from down the street. "The Easter Bunny from Hell" showed up and did a little dance for our intrepid photographer Yikes! It doesn't get any scarier than that. Glad we keep the kids away from the moonbats or they'll be scarred for life. Mrs Trooprally appropriately titled the photo "I am a Moron" on her Photobucket site. Fortunately for the troops the moonbats are relegated to a spot down the street from the main entrance where few...

4/9: Cluster Bomb, WMD&bin Laden Hunt outside White House's Easter Egg Roll -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reply to: event-294810909@craigslist.org Date: 2007-03-15, 11:47PM EDT We're doing a new kind of demonstration outside the White House to bring attention to the civilian costs of war and cooked "intelligence" as an excuse to bomb and invade. It's called a Cluster Bomb and WMD/bin Laden Hunt and it will take place April 9 outside the White House Easter Monday when the White House is doing their Easter Egg Hunt. We expect 40,000 people to be crossing Lafayette Square and dozens of media. It's very family-orientated and designed...

Getting arrested is becoming blasé for Midgelle Regina Potts. Born Mitchell Eugene Potts, Midge changed her name last year to reflect her belief that she is a woman. She has been arrested five times in Washington. There were the two times protesting in front of the White House, another at the Supreme Court, another at the Senate Gallery and still another at Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) office when she sat reading the names of dead soldiers. She has a date in court on May 15. “They’re all misdemeanors,” she says, passing the arrests off as just another day in the...

An anti-war group, Code Pink, is hounding Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) at almost every stop she makes on the campaign trail, hitting her again yesterday as she joined other candidates in seeking a union endorsement. Standing in front of the Capitol Hill Hyatt Regency, the group made its presence known, inviting a sea of union members from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers to “go back downstairs and kiss Hillary’s a--.” While the group of laborers, enjoying cigarettes between speakers at the Communications Workers of America (CWA) forum, looked on with bemused interest, the protesters sang songs and waved...
