WASHINGTON (Talon News) -- The Washington, DC chapter of the leftist Independent Media Center has published a partial list of delegates to the Republican National Convention on its web site. The list includes names, home addresses, and telephone numbers as well as the hotel of each delegate for the New York convention. The IMC says that its objective is to "supply anti-RNC groups with data on the delegates to use in whatever way they see fit." The group also aims to "facilitate making local connections," noting that many of the delegates are involved in politics and business on a town...

Far from the razor-wire capped protest prison in the shadow of the flag-bedecked Boston Fleet Center, progressive activists shared center stage with their Democratic Party champions before a crowd of 1,000 at the Roxbury Community College Gymnasium. The occasion was a founding conference for a new organization, the Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) (www.pdamerica.org) which vows to build a sustained movement to transform the Democratic Party into a force for social justice and environmental sanity. Referring to the event in Roxbury and Tuesday's "Building the Peace Movement" Forum at the Boston Paulist Center, which was attended by a standing room...

Think pink. If you're picturing ballerina shoes or a flouncy sundress - pretty, girlie, feminine things - then you're way behind the times. These days, pink is popping up in the most unlikely places. Over hairy chests. Covering bulging biceps. Atop a buzz cut. _______ "I think it actually shows confidence in your masculinity," said The Apprentice's Kwame Jackson, who more than once this winter was shown across the boardroom table from The Donald wearing a natty pink shirt. "It shows you have like a subtle flair." Jackson likes the look so much, he's including at least two pink or...

The hot fashion trend among Democratic National Convention delegates this year is pink, in the form of pink scarves. Not only are delegates of all stripes making a fashion statement with the scarves, they're making a political statement as well. The scarves read "Give BUSH a pink slip!" and identify the wearer as a "DELEGATE FOR PEACE." They also say " Boston — 2004" and thus serve as a souvenir of the convention. The Kucinich campaign first used the scarves at the Maine Democratic Convention in May. They were donated by Code Pink, an activist anti-war group. Originally brought in...

Boston- As Teresa Heinz Kerry gave her prime-time address that never mentioned Iraq, Code Pink founder Medea Benjamin attemped to bring an anti-war message onto the floor of the convention. Moments later police were dragging her out of the Fleet Center. As Teresa Heinz Kerry spoke last night, on the floor of the convention, Medea Benjamin from Global Exchange and CodePink unfurled a pink colored banner that read "End the Occupation of Iraq." That apparently was not one of the DNC-approved messages of the night because within moments of the banner being unfurled, police were called in to remove Medea...

Supporters of a feminist pacifist group prepared to gather in Hinesville on Tuesday in support of a military deserter facing trial today. About 10 supporters of Code Pink Women for Peace planned to attend the court marshal trial of Staff Sgt. Camilo Mejia this week at Fort Stewart. Launched in November, 2002, Code Pink is a national, non-violent anti-war group. Earlier this month, Reuters reported Code Pink members disrupted Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld's testimony at congressional hearings about the abuse of Iraqi prisoners. Supporters distinguish themselves by wearing pink clothes and costumes. The name, Code Pink, is a play on...

SAN FRANCISCO - An Alameda woman traveled more than 7,400 miles recently to find her son in Iraq (news - web sites), who is stationed there. Susan Galleymore, 48, went against the warnings of military officials by showing up for a surprise visit at her 26-year-old son's military base on Feb. 1, seven days after leaving with a group from the Bay Area. When Galleymore arrived and announced who she was, incredulous soldiers paged her son, an Army Ranger, over the 2-way radio. "Hey, Nick. Your mom's here," they said. Galleymore was reunited with her son for 90 minutes, during...

Thousands of Americans today will mark the first anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq by marching against the war. Why, if the war is officially over and Saddam Hussein has been captured, will residents of some 200 American cities join others around the world and take to the streets? Those of us who have traveled to Iraq to witness firsthand the effects of this occupation have returned with some profound reasons.

Code Pink founder Medea Benjamin, a leader of the so-called anti-war movement, fled the scene when Doctor Raoul confronted her on her pro-communist background today at an anti-war rally outside Dover Air Force Base in Delaware. The rally, attended by about three hundred people, was being held to highlight the Pentagon's long-standing policy of not allowing media coverage of the return of fallen American servicemen and women.Doctor Raoul, sans sign or costume, stood across a six lane highway from the rally and addressed them using a portable PA system. He asked the group, which included Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY) and some...

<p>Pink was everywhere.</p>
<p>There were pink jelly beans, pink cookies and pink lemonade. There were glittery pink shrines. Men and women sported pink sweaters, scarves, feather boas and hats.</p>
<p>Several pink balloons floated through the air in the tiny West Davis room where about three dozen members and guests of Code Pink were raising money last month to send delegates to Juárez, Mexico, where participants planned to protest the hundreds of unsolved murders of women in that city.</p>

VIRGINIA – Grief stricken Hiroshima survivors yesterday confronted the newly restored Enola Gay, the American plane that dropped the world's first atomic bomb. Six survivors and about 50 peace activists visited a new museum, where the restored Boeing B-29 Superfortress has just gone on public display, holding pictures of hideously burned victims among tens of thousands killed or injured by the 1945 blast. Two men were arrested after a bottle of red paint, meant to symbolise blood, was thrown, denting a panel on one side of the plane – parked in a new annex to the Smithsonian's National Air and Space...

Parents of military personnel in Iraq have made an ill-considered visit to that country. Date published: 12/10/2003 Rate Iraq trip 'PM' for parental misguidance THEY USED TO CALL IT "aiding and abetting the enemy." That means helping the people with whom your nation is at war. Then Jane Fonda appointed herself Conscience of America, was wined and dined in Hanoi, and made loose-cannon diplomacy stylish. Now a group of wrong-headed family members of U.S. military personnel stationed in Iraq have made a trip to Baghdad. Their mission? To let Iraqis know that not all Americans support the U.S. military presence...

The Blue Star Mothers of America -- a military support group -- is blasting what it calls a "leftist-led" tour of Iraq by the parents of some U.S. service members. "Operation Iraq Watch and Global Exchange are anti-American leftist groups that are cynically exploiting the fears and concerns of families in order to achieve their goal of undermining morale and bringing about the defeat of America in the War on Terror," said the Blue Star Mothers in a press release issued Tuesday. Blue Star Mothers of America is a congressionally chartered veterans support group, which includes parents of active-duty military...
