You see, it was all part of an extracurricular Skills USA competition and with over 100 hours worth of work invested in the piece, she was a frontrunner for first place. Hayden was knocked for her use of the Chevrolet logo on the truck's grille, which is apparently a no-no. This caused judges to deduct 50 points from her overall score, putting her in second place.

We can attest to how much fun it is to drive the all-new 2020 Chevrolet C8 Corvette Stingray, a car that needs a racetrack to exploit its full potential. The latter is especially worth remembering the next time you're tempted to seriously drop the hammer on public streets, in any car—a lesson two General Motors employees learned the hard way this week when they were arrested for apparently "racing" two new C8 Corvettes in Bowling Green, Kentucky. According to Kentucky State Police and a post originally published by our sister publication Automobile, a trooper stopped Alexander Thim and Mark Derkatz...

Looking for a new car, Yang Zhibo considered an electric but balked at prices that are thousands of dollars higher after Beijing wound down multibillion-dollar subsidies that made China the biggest market for the technology. The 27-year-old employee of a beverage distributor picked a gasoline-powered Chevrolet instead. “I am afraid the technology is not mature and the price is too high,” Yang said. China’s leaders are promoting electric cars to help transform the country into a creator of profitable technologies, but sales are stalling as thousands of buyers make a similar choice. That is squeezing automakers that are spending heavily...

For many buyers whose top priority is a car that won’t break down, the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study is gospel. J.D. Power just released the results of its 2019 Initial Quality Study, and the Korean trio of Genesis, Kia, and Hyundai took the top three spots. Luxury brand Genesis ranked highest, followed by sibling brands Kia and Hyundai. As their company was swirling around the financial drain in the early 2000s, General Motors executives came up with an idea to counter its gas-guzzling image and point the way to transportation of the future: an electric car with a gas-engine backup that could travel anywhere. […] … On Tuesday, the last (Chevrolet) Volt was built with little ceremony at a Detroit factory that’s now slated to close. Sales averaged less than 20,000 per year, not enough to sustain the costly undertaking. The Volt wasn’t the first electric car, but it was the first to conquer anxiety over range at...

General Motors Co on Monday pulled the plug on the Chevrolet Volt hybrid and the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly plant that builds it, both examples of a costly gamble that is not paying off. GM’s widely touted factory of the future, forced on a town desperate for jobs and hailed decades later by former resident Barack Obama, is set to wind down over the next few years, leaving beleaguered Hamtramck wondering what happened. Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan said at a news conference Monday that he told GM chief executive Mary Barra Monday that “we moved thousands of people out of that neighborhood...

General Motors will end production of six sedans by the end of 2019. North American customers want SUVs, crossovers, hatchbacks and trucks. Sedans have fallen out of favor. The company announced massive layoffs and is closing five North American facilities as it transitions to self-driving, electric cars of the future. WASHINGTON—High-stakes trade negotiations between Canada and the U.S. were dramatically upended on Friday morning by inflammatory secret remarks from President Donald Trump, after the remarks were obtained by the Toronto Star. In remarks Trump wanted to be “off the record,” Trump told Bloomberg News reporters on Thursday, according to a source, that he is not making any compromises at all in the talks with Canada — but that he cannot say this publicly because “it’s going to be so insulting they’re not going to be able to make a deal.” In a remark he did not want published, U.S. President...

...snip... Weaver was a teenager in March 1968 when his dad offered to “buy me something new.” They lived in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, and first visited Grabiak Chevrolet “down the road,” where the 19-year-old spotted a black 427 Corvette coupe that he “was interested in getting.” Except, “My God, the insurance was over $1,000 a year,” which was “a fortune” in those days. “So we went up to Yenko [Chevrolet] to see about getting a Camaro.” They entered a candy land of “at least 50 Z/28s, different colors, different gear ratios—4.10s, 4.56s, 4.88s.” Weaver recalled it like it was yesterday. “I...

Notably, the fast rear glass that marks today’s Corvette won’t be carried over to the eighth-generation model in the form of an engine cover. Instead, the two-door coupe appears to...

A Kentucky grandfather was reduced to tears on his 81st birthday last weekend when his grandson presented him with a newly restored 1957 Chevy Bel Air that had been collecting dust in a garage. Cameron Dedman wanted to surprise his grandfather and "do it right," so he said he saved money, sold his own car and worked much of last year restoring the classic.
