Amador County Sheriff cites ‘misinformation’ that death was suicide; Investigation ongoing Philip Haney, the former Department of Homeland Security whistleblower, found dead in Amador County last month, was not a suicide but a murder, according to Reps. Louis Gohmert (R-Texas) and Steve King (R-Iowa), both friends of the deceased. “I don’t believe that Phil Haney committed suicide.” Rep. King said on the House floor this week, and as Cheryl Chumley reported in the Washington Times, Rep. Gohmert also disbelieved the suicide story. “I’d been concerned about his safety, with all the information he knew and people who could’ve gotten in...

Senator says polls put billionaire on fast-track to nomination. Sen. Ted Cruz made a somewhat startling statement during a recent address to evangelical pastors, telling them Donald Trump seems on fast-track status to win the nomination - that if he wins Iowa, the billionaire businessman "could be unstoppable" on the campaign trail. The video, obtained by the Christian Broadcasting Network and the Brody File, showed Cruz telling his gathered listeners the nomination process was basically entering its final stretch, despite the fact the first caucuses and primaries haven't even taken place, yet. "If Donald wins Iowa, he right now has...

'Just fed up w objectification of women in media' A sports writer and New York Times best-selling author named Jeff Pearlman was pushed into a quasi-apology after saying, via Twitter, Fox News female correspondents dressed as "hookers," per order of their bosses. He posted, alongside a photo of the female crew of Fox's well-watched "Outnumbered" this text: "Serious question: do women on Fox News get extra money for dressing as hookers? Just embarrassing." In another tweet, Pearlman wrote: "Just fed up w objectification of women in media. It's tired, old, widespread, not cool. #done." As Mediaite found, another named Steve...

Capitol Hill police are investigating emailed threats to Rep. Trey Gowdy, the South Carolina congressman tabbed to head a special panel to probe the White House’s response to the Benghazi terrorist attacks. Politico reporters and journalists at other news outlets say they’ve received at least two emails that threaten harm to Mr. Gowdy due directly to his leading role on the panel. Capitol Police refused to comment on the actual threats, except to say that “an active, open investigation” has been launched, Politico reported.

"I'm John Kerry, and I'm reporting for duty." Who can forget this now-infamous July 29, 2004, Democratic National Convention acceptance speech when the party's nominee publicly set his course for the next few months? "At the heart of the 2004 presidential campaign was a long-deferred national debate over whether American troops had systematically committed war crimes in Vietnam, as John Kerry and other activists had insisted, and as Hollywood, the media and much of the American public had long assumed," begins Chapter One of To Set the Record Straight: How Swift Boat Veterans, POWs and the New Media Defeated John...
