Springfield, Ohio in a rust belt town hollowed out by industry offshoring, with a population of 58,000. The Biden-Harris regime decided that what they needed was a bunch of migrants, so they directed 20,000 migrants from Haiti to Springfield. They have turned the town into a Third World hell hole. The Biden-Harris regime has used a number of loopholes, including their made-up-out-of-thin-air "parole pipeline" to allow Haitians into the US One of the problems has been housing, but cultural differences are also a huge problem. The Haitians seem to view any animal they encounter as something for their dinner table,...

Hundreds of thousands of pet owners have been left without coverage after Nationwide abruptly canceled pet insurance policies earlier this month. The company suddenly announced it was dropping policies for around 100,000 pets - blaming the soaring cost of veterinary care and recent underwriting changes. In a statement on June 14, it said the policies would be dropped when they expire, which is typically between now and next summer. Nationwide said the non-renewals are not associated with the pets' age, breed or prior claims history. But an affected pet owner has dogs aged 10 and eight who have recently had...

In the annals of pet ownership, two species reign supreme – Dog vs. Cat. They’ve become integral parts of our lives, and each brings a distinct range of traits and characteristics. Heralded as “man’s best friend,” dogs are known for their loyalty, playfulness, and ability to form strong bonds with their owners. Cats, while also deeply attached to their human companions, showcase independence. They are agile, graceful, and often mysterious, keeping their owners constantly intrigued. The choice between a dog and a cat often depends on personal preference and lifestyle. Let’s explore the unique qualities of these beloved companions...

Four more pet cats have died from H5N1 bird flu in the US. Two of the pets in South Dakota had no links to cattle dairy products - the first time there have been cases in pets without connections to outbreaks on farms. The development could be significant because it suggests the virus is edging closer to humans. South Dakota's state veterinarian, Beth Thompson, said there was no livestock on the property where the pets died, but said it is not yet known how to cats became infected. Two other cases of bird flu in barn cats on commercial diary...

ROME — Pope Francis lamented the West’s continued demographic decline, insisting on Friday that fewer children signals a lack of hope in the future. Countering “outdated” myths of dangerous overpopulation, the pontiff contended that far from being a problem, human beings are the solution to the world’s difficulties. Without naming names, the pope seemingly referred to characters like Stanford biologist Paul Ehrlich, who penned the 1968 doomsday bestseller The Population Bomb, which sparked hysteria over the future of the world and the earth’s ability to sustain human life.

In a recent study published in the United States (U.S.) Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)’s Emerging Infectious Disease Journal, a team of scientists reported the spread of the highly pathogenic hemagglutinin 5 neuraminidase 1 (H5N1) avian influenza clade 2.3.4.4b among cats and dairy cattle in the states of Texas and Kansas. The highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza viruses have long been a threat to poultry and wild bird populations worldwide. They have also been a cause for concern in recent years because of their ability to infect various mammalian species. North America experienced an outbreak of the Eurasian...

This is a ruff take! City-dwelling dog owners are marking their “colonial” territory with pooches who are “gentrifying” neighborhoods, critics say in a bizarre online debate. Sparking the controversy was a story in The Cut that delves into the growing hostility between dog owners and the dog-free in New York. The article quotes Mia, of Prospects Lefferts Gardens, the proud owner of two terriers, who noticed a growing anti-dog sentiment brewing on her community Facebook group. One post about picking up dog poop eventually spiraled into bonkers accusations that the pooches of PGL were “gentrifying the neighborhood.” Mia, a New...

If your kitty has claws, you soon won’t be able to have them removed in the Commonwealth. Gov. Glenn Youngkin has signed a bill outlawing the declawing of cats by veterinarians, effective July 1. This is not applicable to nail filing, nail trimming or the placement of temporary nail caps on your cat’s claws. Civil penalties include $500 for the first violation, $1,000 for the second violation and $2,500 for the third or any subsequent violation.

Charlie Kirk upset a lot of women last week. In a discussion on unmarried women preferring Democrats, he said that ladies in their 30s are past their prime and struggle to find a husband. This is obviously true, but impolite to say. Kirk’s statement naturally inspired outrage among liberals, as well as among conservatives. That shouldn’t surprise anyone. Kirk’s opinion runs counter to the prevailing conservative narrative about the decline of marriage. Conservatives say it’s all men’s fault and we need to do more to shame males into stepping up. But this male-focused answer isn’t correct. It’s true that men...

OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) — Oklahoma lawmakers are filing a flurry of bills the day before the filing deadline. Among them is HB 3084. The bill, authored by Rep. The bill would also prohibit students who engage in anthropomorphic behavior, also known as "furries", from class. If a parent cannot pick up a student found in violation, the bill states, then animal control services will be contacted to remove the student. Other bills being filed:

Lāna‘i is a place like no other. On this tiny island you’ll find coffee shops that open and close when they please, a relaxed mood among residents and an idyllic cat shelter, among other things. Started in 2004 by Kathy Carroll, the Lāna‘i Cat Sanctuary has become one of the biggest visitor attractions on the island, and its purpose and mission—to help control Lāna‘i’s wild cat population—has remained the same. After moving to Lāna‘i with her husband, Mike, who now owns an art studio in town, Carroll quickly found herself caring for a small stray kitten. Lāna‘i didn’t have a...

One of my cats had a lot of trouble with constipation. She would spend much time just hanging around the littlebox with no success. The vet recommended mineral oil mixed with food, but that didn't work. I tried squirting it into her mouth with a needleless syringe. That's was difficult for a whole bunch of reasons...and she hid when she needed it most. But Happy Days Are Here Again.I found a solution that works like a charm and thought that some of you pet people might like to consider it.I mix a 1/4 teaspoon of generic non-flavored Miralax (an osmotic laxative)...

One of the first things workers at a Florida animal shelter noticed when a woman came in with her cats for spay and neutering — aside from the fact there were 22 of them — was the “overwhelming” smell of urine, one of the employees said. The cats weren’t in the best condition. They had fleas, missing fur, green discharge coming from their eyes and noses and “lots of wounds from fighting,” SPCA Florida’s public media director Randa Richter said in a Dec. 22 news conference held by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. SNIP But the shelter became even more...

Tabby footage crosses millions of miles and was still faster than most folks' home broadbandFrom the department of "what must the aliens think of us?" comes news that NASA has demonstrated its Deep Space Optical Communications experiment through the medium of a cat video. The 15-second, ultra-high definition video of an orange tabby cat named Taters was sent back to Earth as part of the demonstration. It took 101 seconds for the video to reach Earth, with the system running at its maximum bit rate of 267 Mbps. We shall obviously be adding this to our list of Register measurements:...
