WASHINGTON (AP) — Democrats at the highest levels are making a critical push for President Joe Biden to rethink his election bid, with former President Barack Obama expressing concerns to allies and Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi privately telling Biden the party could lose the ability to seize control of the House if he doesn’t step away from the 2024 race. Biden’s orbit, already small before his debate fumbling, has grown even smaller in recent days. Isolated as he battles a COVID infection at home in Delaware, the president is relying on a few longtime aides as he weighs whether to...

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has urged US President Joe Biden to make a decision to give up his bid for reelection, the Politico website reported, citing sources.Media previously reported that US Democratic House representatives are hoping that Pelosi will convince US President Joe Biden to withdraw as the Democratic presidential nominee. Pelosi reportedly talked with Biden last week, saying that some Democrat lawmakers will only become louder in their complaints about the president's alleged political weakness, according to Politico. The former speaker also asked Biden to make a decision about stepping down in the near future....

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) reportedly privately expressed doubt if President Joe Biden can actually win following widespread panic sparked from his poor debate performance, according to reports from Politico Playbook, citing “half-dozen lawmakers and others who have spoken with her or are familiar with these conversations.” However, Pelosi is denying this. According to the report, Pelosi has been working behind the scenes and carefully crafting her responses, some of which she hoped would “serve as a subtle green light” to “encourage members to speak up about their desire to see change atop the ticket — and to warn Biden to...

San Diego’s mayor announced July 17 a lease deal to convert a commercial building near the city’s airport into a 1,000-bed homeless shelter and resource center, but the city’s budget analyst raised concerns over the cost.“For years, past mayors and city councils have only engaged in ad-hoc, piecemeal, temporary approaches to addressing homelessness,” Mayor Todd Gloria said in a statement. “With this proposal, we are looking to deliver the change that San Diegans want to see with regard to addressing homelessness on our streets.”The 30-year lease, which awaits approval from the city council on July 22, includes a cost of...

A former San Francisco District Attorney’s staffer who lost his job over a “reply-all” email sent to his boss asking, “What color panties you have on,” claims the embarrassing message was sent by accident in a new lawsuit he filed against the city. Jovan Thomas, 56, filed the complaint on Friday, six months after San Francisco DA Brooke Jenkins and her employees opened their mailboxes to find the risqué reply from the trained victim advocate in response to an email from the city’s top prosecutor to staff, Mercury News reported. Jenkins’ office slammed the email as “misogynistic behavior” and Thomas,...

We should have known it would be Nancy. After the Democrats electoral surge in the 2018 midterms, her daughter was asked how Pelosi—the incoming House Speaker—would approach negotiations with then-President Trump. “She’ll cut your head off and you won’t even know you’re bleeding,” Alexandra Pelosi said. Over the last three weeks as Biden teetered, only to recover, and was beaten down, only to rally, it was Pelosi who kept coming back to the fight. As Politico reported, “Each time the Dump Biden movement seemed to stall, it was Pelosi who personally took pains to help revive it.” In a July...

On Sunday, President Biden chose National Ice Cream Day to announce he will not seek re-election for a second term, endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris to take over as the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee. Biden said in a letter posted to X that he will “stand down and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.” But if he had any respect for the office he holds, the American people, our republic or himself, Biden would resign from the presidency immediately. No one said campaigning for re-election was easy. The schedule is punishing. A...

Sources close to Sen Joe Manchin, independent of WV, say he's considering re-registering as a Democrat and throwing his hat into the ring

Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia is urging President Joe Biden to drop his reelection bid. Manchin joins a growing number of lawmakers trying to pressure the Democratic president to reconsider his plans to continue campaigning against Trump. Nearly three dozen congressional Democrats have called on Biden to step aside following a debate performance earlier this month that raised open questions about Biden’s ability to mount a convincing campaign. Manchin, who became an independent in May after years as a Democrat, is not seeking reelection to the Senate. His remarks came Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Now that President Biden has dropped out of the 2024 presidential race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to be the nominee, it will ultimately be up to Democratic National Convention delegates to formally select a new nominee for their party. While many associate the convention system with less-than-impressive nominees, such as the obscure senator Warren G. Harding, the record isn’t that bad. And even Harding managed to win the presidency

WASHINGTON — Kamala Harris had one great day in her ill-fated 2020 presidential campaign: her first. Then came a rapid collapse. The freshman senator who announced her candidacy in January 2019 before 20,000 cheering supporters in Oakland, Calif. dropped out in December before a single vote had been cast. Now, Harris may get another shot. As the sitting vice president, she would be a leading candidate to succeed Biden if he succumbs to party pressure and exits the race. Other elected officials might step forward to challenge Harris, dividing Democrats and clouding the general election picture ahead of a November...

REHOBOTH, Del. — As President Joe Biden faces a wave of new calls from elected officials to end his re-election bid, his political allies are actively exploring ways to publicly demonstrate he still has widespread support among key elements of the Democratic Party’s base, according to three Democrats familiar with the discussions. In some cases, the demonstrations of support are organic, coming from organizations and constituencies that are concerned the party infighting is hurting their goal of defeating Donald Trump. They include Black clergy members, as well as Latino community leaders and progressive activists to show grassroots support for the...

President Joe Biden is reportedly fed up with his pals, former President Barack Obama and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi over what many are calling a coup d’état within the Democratic Party’s nomination process. Several people close to Biden told the New York Times on Friday that the embattled president sees Pelosi as “the main instigator” and Obama as “the puppet master behind the scenes” in efforts to remove him from the 2024 race. Biden’s anger seems to be triggered by a plethora of leaks and stories from anonymous sources suggesting he has considered passing the torch to a successor,...

President Biden's campaign chair convened an all-staff call Friday and urged staffers to tune out news coverage that has focused on whether Biden will be pushed aside as the Democratic nominee, according to a recording of the call obtained by Axios. "Don't watch cable news all the time," chair Jen O'Malley Dillon told staff at the campaign and the Democratic National Committee. "That is not the real world. The real world is the voters that are standing with us, the delegates that are with us, and we're going to weather this because of this organization." "I talked to him...

Corazon Dandan, a San Mateo County resident, was shoved in front of a moving Millbrae-bound train at Powell Street station at around 11.06pm yesterday. Mayor London Breed said a “very aggressive” sweep of San Francisco homeless encampments will start in August, after a recent Supreme Court ruling cleared the path for widespread enforcement. In June, the Supreme Court ruled that enforcing rules against homeless people for sleeping outside doesn’t violate the Eighth Amendment’s “cruel and unusual punishment” clause. On Thursday, Breed celebrated the ruling and said the city plans to change its protocols and may begin issuing criminal penalties against homeless people. “Thank goodness for the change in the Supreme Court decision,” Breed said at an election debate hosted by a local firefighter’s union....

Is Joe Biden close to dropping out? Those chances shot up to 50 percent after the proverbial dam appeared to have broken yesterday. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) called on Biden to exit the race, with Sen. Chuck Schumer and Reps. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) echoed those sentiments. They showed him polls highlighting the president’s inability to win and Biden becoming a weight on the entire party. NEW — "According to my sources, President Biden agreed to step down as the Democratic nominee. It will happen as early as this weekend..."- Mark Halperin on Newsmax just now pic.twitter.com/89vkN7VV0Q—...

Kamala Harris has suffered a blow in a poll that looked at how alternative Democratic candidates would do in swing states. There have been calls for U.S. President Joe Biden to be replaced as the Democratic candidate since the world watched his poor performance in his debate with Donald Trump on June 27. Many have assumed the vice president would be the obvious choice, but a new poll shows she doesn't fare as well as others, and she wasn't among the four who performed best. Analytics company BlueLabs carried out research to determine who would increase the number of people...

Sue Mi Terry, a former CIA analyst and a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, is accused by federal prosecutors of acting as a secret agent for South Korea. Terry, whose husband Max Boot regularly falsely accused former President Trump of being a Russian asset, reportedly used her position and access to U.S. officials to provide sensitive information to South Korea in exchange for luxury items and other lavish benefits, according to the indictment, New York Post reported. The allegations state that from Oct. 2013, Terry engaged in activities that compromised her role as an independent foreign policy...
