Hi. You may remember these threads from last year around the time this forum (Bloggers) was started. These threads came before even PJ-Comix immeasurably more popular DUFU threads, but I grow lazy and discontinued them. I'm bringing them back, but only on a case-by-case basis for the time being. So let's head over to the bane of the Internet once again and collect the silly, stupid, insane, and downright hateful posts. This one falls under the category of guilt by (mis)association... KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee offensive tackle Michael Munoz decided to quit football after he was not chosen in the NFL draft over the weekend, his father, NFL Hall of Famer Anthony Munoz said Monday. Former NFL defensive lineman Al Lucas died on Sunday from a presumed spinal cord injury sustained while trying to make a tackle for the Los Angeles Avengers during an Arena Football League game, the team said. Lucas was taken to California Hospital and all attempts to revive him were unsuccessful, team physician Dr. Luga Podesta said in a statement. Members of the team were prohibited from speaking to the media after the game. A call to a California Hospital spokesman was not returned.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Feb. 3, 2005) -- Emmitt Smith, the NFL's career rushing leader, is retiring after 15 years, according to two sources within the NFL. He is expected to sign a one-day contract with Dallas so he can retire as a Cowboy. Dallas owner Jerry Jones will be present at the ceremony. The 35-year-old Smith ran for 18,355 yards and 164 touchdowns in his career, both NFL records. He rushed for 937 yards...

NBC's "Nightly News" may be changing in more ways than one when Brian Williams takes over Tom Brokaw's old anchor chair tonight. While Brokaw was an inveterate liberal who regarded the new media with deep suspicion, Williams is a regular talk radio listener who considers Rush Limbaugh a media icon. "Rush Limbaugh has a place in American history he has not yet received his due for," Williams told ABC Radio network host Sean Hannity on Wednesday. "There were millions of Americans who were out in the wilderness and had no one who shared their voice," the NBC'er said. "And he...

I was sent notified of this by Quzar and thought it deserved a thread of it's own. As news of the death of Ronald Reagan spread, nutcases have been trying to contain thamselves from dancing on the grave of the man who they owe their very lives to. Of course, they can't help themselves at DU. We begin our story of the aptly named misanthrope. You see, he is a nut. He can't help himself, he was born that way. Don't judge him. Well, this particular nut, however worked for a radio program (I think NPR). At this radio station,...

Yes, I'm resurrecting the VRWC Surveillance Team/ Daily Dumbest Things said on DU Thread. This is a special edition. As we all know, the Great Communicator "slipped the surly bonds of Earth to touch the face of God" Saturday. Unfortunately, the extreme kooks on DU and elsewhere are acting in a less than dignified matter regarding the news. If you want to, please go over there and retrieve the things they say about the Gipper and post them here. Remember to post the name of the poster and a link to what is said.

Today is the day that NFL teams start cutting overpriced veterans in order to get rid of the baggage. If your team has a need that it didn't fill in free agency or the draft, now is the time to get that player who will push you over the top. Players expected to be cut today include... Kurt Warner, QB, Rams Rich Gannon, QB, Raiders Vinny Testaverde, Qb, Jets Tim Couch, QB, Browns Eddie George, RB, Titans Larry Allen, OG, Cowboys Mike McKenzie, CB, Packers A couple of these may not be released by their respective teams. Anyway, let's use...

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Alberta Martin, the last widow of a Civil War veteran, died on Memorial Day, ending an unlikely ascent from sharecropper's daughter to the belle of 21st century Confederate history buffs who paraded her across the South. She was 97. Martin died at a nursing home in Enterprise of complications from a heart attack she suffered May 7, said her caretaker, Dr. Kenneth Chancey. She died nearly 140 years after the Civil War ended. Her May-December marriage in the 1920s to Civil War veteran William Jasper Martin and her longevity made her a celebrated final link to the...

FORT BRAGG, N.C. -- Pat Tillman probably was killed by friendly fire while leading his team of Army Rangers up a hill during a firefight in Afghanistan last month, the U.S. Army said Saturday. Tillman walked away from a $3.6 million NFL contract to join the Army after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. Previous military statements suggested he was killed April 22 under enemy fire. "While there was no one specific finding of fault, the investigation results indicate that Cpl. Tillman probably died as a result of friendly fire while his unit was engaged in combat with enemy forces," Lt....
