DETROIT (WXYZ) - Michigan Congressman John Conyers has asked the civil rights division of the US Justice Department to investigate the death of Imam Luqman Ameen Abdullah. Both the Dearborn Police Department and the FBI are currently investigating the case. It expanded out of an FBI investigation into the fencing of stolen merchandise. The October raids were conducted as part of that investigation. Agents opened fire on Abdullah after they say he killed an FBI dog and shot at federal officials from a warehouse.

Detroit (WWJ) -- Detroit's homeless not only have a place to stay, they now also have a place to stay in shape. The Green Gym opened at the warehouse of the Cass Community Social Services at 12025 Woodrow Wilson. It is the first gym of its kind specifically for homeless clients. The specially-equipped bikes hooked to a generator will make electricity redirected to the warehouse. One cyclist over an hour's time can create enough juice to power two laptop computers for an hour.

Cell phone-related materials, including SIM cards, were recovered during searches of "flats or apartments of interest" connected to Flight 253 bomber suspect Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, Fox News learned Monday. SIM cards, which store cell phone numbers and incoming or outgoing calls, may be able to determine who was talking to whom in the months and days prior to Abdulmutallab's flight from Nigeria to Detroit.

DETROIT (WXYZ) - A hearing that had been scheduled for today in the case of the suspected terrorist who investigators say tried to blow up a Northwest flight from Amsterdam to Detroit has been cancelled. No reason for the cancellation has been given. Prosecutors were expected to ask for a DNA sample from Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab. He was not going to be in court for the hearing. Abdulmutallab's court appointed attorneys say they will fight the request.

Wayne County Prosecutors say Kilpatrick is living large on what he should be paying to the city of Detroit in restitution. He spent $595 at a Gucci store and $158 at a nail salon this past June, Assistant Wayne County Prosecutor Athina Siringas said. Siringas also said $800 was spent at one point over the summer on Omaha steaks. Other transaction were made for golf and smooties, and one at a shop called "Nothing Bundt Cakes.'' "That's what you chose to spend the money on?'' Siringas asked Kilpatrick, who invoked his Fifth Amendment privilege several times during Monday's hearing.

Freddy was a nearly 3-year-old Belgian Malinois who was killed Wednesday during a gun battle between agents and Luqman Ameen Abdullah, described as the radical leader of a Sunni Islam group.

DETROIT -- The Detroit leader of a nationwide fundamentalist Islamic group was fatally shot during a series of FBI raids Wednesday afternoon. The FBI arrested 10 people who have ties to the group called the Ummah, which translates to “the brotherhood.” The group’s primary mission is to establish a separate sovereign Islamic state governed by Sunni law, according to FBI charging documents.
