‘Things Fall Apart’: Biden, at UN, Reflects on Four Years of Chaos in Foreign Policy
Breitbart ^ | 09/24/2024 | Joel B. Pollak

President Joe Biden delivered what might have been his last major international address at the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, acknowledging that the world is a more chaotic place but sounding a note of hope.

In his speech, Biden referred to the famous line from Irish poet William Butler Yeats, “Things fall apart.” He acknowledged that the world had unraveled in the past four years, but pushed back against pessimism:

In 1919, the Irish poet William Butler Yeats described a world, and I quote, where “Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,” end of quote.

Some may say those words describe the world not just in 1919 but in 2024. But I see a cri- — a critical distinction.

In our time, the center has held. Leaders and people from every region and across the political spectrum have stood together. Turned the page — we turned the page on the worst pandemic in a century. We made sure COVID no longer controls our lives. We defended the U.N. Charter and ensured the survival of Ukraine as a free nation. My country made the largest investment in climate and clean energy ever, anywhere in history.

The dried up retard is incapable of noticing or acknowledging that it fell apart under his “leadership”.

What idiot speechwriter decided to use that quote?

Yes, I think it accurately reflects the chaos that Joe has unleashed. But the speech is TRYING to use that quote in an effort to show that Joe has been successfully keeping everything together. Should have found a better quote for that particular message.

"What idiot speechwriter decided to use that quote?"

Someone who is preoccupied with death.

Did Biden mention that they had to spend the last four years undoing the damage Trump did with foreign policy? And the only way it gets truly fixed is if Harris-Walz are elected? I can see it happening.

Wow. Just wow. What a bunch of idiots, whoever thought that was a good idea to reference that poem in any way, shape, or form.

I think they assumed to people on their side, it would give them an air of erudition which they like having, but actually do not possess.

To people like us, we see what that poem means in the context of the last four years, and think if people generally knew of that poem (they don’t) they would understand its relationship to the Democrat party in general, and Biden/Harris specifically as castastrophic.

To people who don’t get the reference-it means nothing at all. Nothing.

Okay, I know that the business I’m in (development) is full of conservative people, particulary in Texas. But, I talk to a minimum of 100 people per month and it is VERY rare that I talk to one that will vote for Harris but I’ve learned that the mere mention of her name is likely to cause some of them to go off like a rocket.

I think Trump will break 400 EV’s.

The centre REFUSES to hold, and is breaking things apart.

....

The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowne.

….

For those not tracking, the conclusion of that poem is

And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

Well. As usual Joe likes to spill the secrets under context of imbecility.
