i think a better question is why are people building camps in river bottoms?
why is it the governments fault for not blowing truckloads of money?

someone did the political calculus here and decided that letting this information out is either

-less beneficial (a lot of potential blackmail) or
-more harmful (someone's tool caught in the pickle slicer)
than covering it up. so which is worse?


and the cost of covering it up was unknown but certainly known to be high.
when the tables turn and the Democrats are in power, they have already shown they will bury this next to jimmy hoffa. so which is worse for them?

i think it boils down to there are two kinds of people

people who want to be left alone and are willing to leave others alone
people who want to make their own decisions about most things
people who are more independent


people who have a high need for social conformity
people who need a higher authority to defer to
people who want to be told what to do
people who are more co-dependent


i think everything else either follows from these differences or are just political footballs
