Bloomberg’s surveillance of Muslims extended beyond New York into Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Jersey and elsewhere. The program was so secretive and intrusive that Cory Booker, then the mayor of Newark, was not informed of it.

There’s no reason anything with this title should be as fun or as genuinely interesting as this is. It’s a movie so lovingly slapdash and so clearly trying to be better than it has any right to be that it moves into the realm of actually being fantastic. Each of its brisk 80 minutes tingles with gleeful ridiculousness and has something for everybody: fast cars, naked women, wanton violence, political and social commentary, and even a pre-Rocky Sylvester Stallone.

A. Alfred Taubman, an art collector and shopping-mall tycoon who sold Renoirs and root beer with equal panache and turned a sleepy Sotheby’s auction house into a global power of art sales, but went to prison in a commission-fixing scandal involving its archrival Christie’s, died on Friday at his home in Bloomfield Hills, Mich. He was 91.

Hundreds of LIRR employees have allegedly exploited the overlap between the LIRR pension and the RRB disability program by pre-planning the date on which they would falsely declare themselves disabled so that it would coincide with their projected retirement date. These false statements, made under oath in disability applications, allowed LIRR employees to retire as early as age 50 with an LIRR pension, supplemented by the fraudulently obtained RRB disability annuity. From 1995 through 2011, more than 75 percent of LIRR employees stopped working and began receiving RRB disability benefits.

My company is contemplating the installation of a 1.2 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) generation solar panel project on the roof of our facility. We are located on Long Island and are powered by LIPA. LIPA has a new green initiative program called CLEAN. LIPA's CLEAN Solar Initiative will pay customers $0.22/kWh for PV plants between 50 kW and 20 MW under 20-year contracts. LIPA will begin accepting applications under the program on July 16th, 2012. The United States experiments with feed-in tariffs at the local level. A number of U.S utilities, municipalities and states have approved feed-in tariffs, however such...

Trainer D. Wayne Lukas, while slightly skeptical of Zenyatta’s achievements, says, “If she comes back here (in the Classic) and does it on the dirt, I think it’ll stamp her. If she whips them twice in the Classic on two different surfaces, I would say you’d have to mention her with Spectacular Bid and Secretariat and stuff.”

I hold an executive position at a private corporation located on Long Island, NY (250+ employees). On Thursday, November 19, 2009, two casually dressed gentlemen showed up at our facility (unannounced) and asked for the Human Resource Manager. They, unilaterally, determined that our company had a connection to the public safety and national security concerns of the United States. As such, they are requiring us to provide them with 100% of the Form I-9 - Employment Eligibility Verifications for all our current employees and employees who have been terminated within the past 12 months. The purpose of the form is for an...

I just finished reading about that sorry b*st*rd, George Clooney: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1528789/postsHe whines on about the past twelve months being the worst year of his life. Boo Hoo. I guess being a world traveling multi-millionaire isn't as wonderful as we might think. What I have discovered over the years is that good and bad times are somewhat cyclical. Everything can be going well and then, all of a sudden, a bad cycle will emerge. The same is true in reverse.I thought it might be enlightening to hear what real people have to say about the worst year of their life. I am...

An IRS tax lien was placed on an individual's primary residence based upon a 1984 tax return issue. The IRS tax lien is still attached to the property today. It is my understanding that a tax lien must expire after 10 years from assessment date (the IRS tax liability statute of limitations). If this is true, how can I get this expired lien removed from the property? I am told the IRS does not let the property owner know about this law (it figures). For the record, no waiver of this time limitation was ever signed by the homeowner.Any help on this...
