  • Jury finds Roderick Scott not guilty (indicted for self-defense shooting)

    "I just hope it's not a message to the community that you have the right to shoot a 17-year-old unarmed kid for trying to break into a car,"

    I just hope it's a message to the community that trying to break into a car is NOT a good idea.

    As for whether he should have been acquitted, I have not read all the details and cannot be certain (although I lean toward trusting the jury on this one). I do think that even if he encroached on their "comfort zone" and even if his actions triggered an aggressive response from the criminals, it was okay for him to defend himself against that aggressive response. I have seen far too many career criminals who go through the revolving door of our "justice" system; these were criminals and I don't mind seeing a few of them go through the one-way door of the county morgue.

    The better question is not whether Jesus would have been born, but whether Obama would have been born.

    That's the best (and only good) argument I've heard in favor of ObamaCare. Are you siding with the socialists?

    The Virgin Mary would have been forced into an abortion under ObamaCare.

    Mary would have done exactly what she did, regardless of evil in the government. Like the majority today, she followed God's will in her life. And today? I imagine we'll have more children born in a manger, a barn, or elsewhere outside the control of Obama/Pelosi's thugs. Perhaps one or more will turn out to be Obama's worst nightmare - a genuinely good man of God.

    Good point. What possible parallel could people find between a totalitarian socialist who hates America and our Constitution ... and the Russian leader from WWII?

    Perhaps the lawyers can run out the clock on August 10, 2010, and she'll have a chance of living. If not, I hope the court pays for a nice coffin for this little girl.

    I'd rather remember her like this:

    Even with her shocking exposure of her wrists and ankles.

    The judge will ensure that we remember her like this:

    Huckabee Was Correct and America Needs Such Principled Leadership

    It takes a lot of guts to make such an absurd statement. I can think of at least four families that surely disagree: The families of Lakewood police Sgt. Mark Renninger, 39, and officers Tina Griswold, 40, Greg Richards, 42, and Ronald Owens, 37.

    I had no strong feelings either way on Huck prior to this tragedy. Even if Huck has said it was a mistake and he would learn from it, I wouldn't hold it against him (not much at least). But Huck and his supporters have decided to act like this pardon was the right move. I disagree STRONGLY, and I find that position to be a serious flaw in Huck as a candidate.

    Can’t they just get an “I’m a Floozy” tattoo on their foreheads? Why bother the rest of the country with their lack of morals? [Note: If you think I’m ignoring Tiger’s sleaze in some sort of double standard, I’m not. It’s just that his wife already took care of his entire face.]

    Two thoughts:

    "For 10 minutes and 20 seconds, Donna Jackson remained calm..."

    1. When seconds matter, the police are only a little more than 10 minutes away.

    "But when he threw a table through her sliding glass patio door ... The phone drops, and there’s a single shot from a 16-gauge shotgun."

    2. Never bring a table to a gun fight.

    I don't think this criminal was all there mentally, but I also don't think that matters. This woman would have been just as dead (or raped) if she'd allowed this psycho in as if she had allowed someone sane but equally violent to break into her home.

    From an OLD book:

    Romans 1:
    26Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones.
    27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another.

    1 Timothy 3:
    [1] This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
    [2] A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
    [3] Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
    [4] One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
    [5] (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

    I wish those who select Bishops would read that old book before choosing leaders.

    If this murderer "works" 200 days a year, that's 17-18 abortions a day, less than 30 minutes per patient. I have trouble viewing assembly-line murder as "caring for" his patients.

    ... the more conservative the president we have the better our country will be. The most conservative of that bunch is Palin, so I will support her if she runs (and I think she will). As far as electability is concerned, don’t underestimate her. I don’t know that she is the “next Reagan”. I just know that there isn’t anyone else CLOSE to that standard.

    Very well said. I like Fred Thompson, but he doesn't want the job enough to get noticed by the average voter (not a flaw in the man, but a fatal flaw in a candidate). Like you, I expect Palin to run, and I think she has a good chance of winning ... unless elections are suspended for the duration of the "crisis" once Obama/Pelosi see that socialism isn't as popular with the living as it is with ACORN's dead voters. As several others have mentioned though, I'm far more concerned for now with 2010. We need conservatives running, which means they need to be getting their campaigns set up now. I am funding several of them - generously - and I hope other Freepers are putting their money behind the drive to take back an America that follows the Constitution.

    By a 38-to-24 vote, lawmakers chose to continue the state’s discrimination against couples who want to get married and simply happen to be the same sex.

    I discriminate against potential employees who want to work for me handling large sums of money but have felony convictions for grand theft, embezzlement, or bank robbery. Is there something wrong with discriminating based on relevant criteria such as whether a potential employee has the basic character compatible with the job or whether people have the basic anatomy compatible with a marriage?

    It is time to rally around the president....

    No. Not while we have an anti-American fascist in our White House.

    It WILL BE time to rally around the president.... when we have an eligible American in our White House.

    It WILL BE time to rally around the president.... when we have a president who loves America and works to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

    It WILL BE time to rally around the president.... when we have a leader who hates terrorism and other forms of evil.

    It WILL BE time to rally around the president.... when she takes her Oath of Office on January 20, 2013:

    I heard somebody did a study of job apps. a few years ago ... they found discrimination against names such as Tyrone and Shaniqua.

    I wonder whether this was racism, an assumption that affirmative action had tainted the claimed education so that Tyrone and Shaniqua would not have been held to the same standards as Steve and Jane, or an assumption that those whose parents gave them distinctly black names would also have been raised with the new distinctly black (victim) values rather than with traditional values. If they just didn't want blacks, I would be disappointed - and quite surprised. If they had found that our educational system had failed blacks and they had to look at claimed education sceptically, it may make more sense. And if they had learned that those raised as victims are non-productive until they have an excuse for a lawsuit and then they are even worse, I am 100% behind the hiring managers.
