I agree with Evening Star's analysis. I think this will be the beginning on the end for Hamas. The Palestinian people will suffer because there is no was he US will continue to Subsidize the Palestinians now that Terrorist are in charge. We may even exert pressure on other Arab Governments to isolate them. Once the people realize that the it is not in their best interest to support Hamas, they will lose power. This is also an opportunity for Abbas to clean house.

Agreed. Specter is about one thing. PROMOTING SPECTER. He nearly lost the chairmanship by opening his mouth too much. He probably had to promise to promote all judges and vote for the "Constitutional Option". He has 4 years left in the Senate. Unless he wants to lose the chairmanship he will promote whoever Bush puts up.

The "Let's boycott for a day" is not a solution sice you will need to get gas teh next day.

If Gas Station A needs to purchase more inventory because more people shop there, while Gas Station be now is purchasing less due to higher prices, Gas Station B lower their price to increase sales.

    It's called Competition.

In rural areas this may not be helpful, but in cities it can be significant. In Brooklyn where I'm from I saw a 30 cent price difference for me while taking a different route to the highway, maybe .2 miles longer out of my way.

His "Solution" would work, if everyone in Congress decided they no longer want to be employed in their current job after 2006.

Also what he forgets is that when you plug-in to charge the batteries the electricity has to come from somewhere. That means unless you get your power from a nuclear plant, your still burning fossil fuels, you just feel better about it.

FYI. I have a cheap gas post, but I'll include the URL here.

Looks like this is more in your area than the others. I think your readers would like this site.

The Republicans should then meet in the the Committee Rooms "unofficially". They can also "unofficially" invite people to show up and discuss issues, thus continuing committee work. If enough Dems show up to take part in the "discussion" since it's not a hearing, they do not have to be allocated any time since it's not an "official" meeting. Cameras can be barred since it's not a hearing therefore FOIA does not apply. Once the media is shut out from "hearing" since they are not technically hearing, but policy could be decided they will turn on the Dems since this is their life blood.

Any Republican in the Senate that is even thinking of running for President better be on board. The base will not vote for somone who jumped ship on this issue.

If Specter bolts. Sen Cornyn should move to remove him as Chair.

Lottt was replaced because he was an ineffectual leader and he is continueing to prove that every year. He came up with the phrase "nuclear option" and now he may stab Frist and Bush in the back. If a leader is effective his people will support him. See Tom DeLay in the House.

This is where he states the election is Now. I check This Site along with Dale's and Election projections (this has not been updated in a while).

Here's what I think. Zogby got it WRONG in 2000. THe last minute DUI and the lack of GOP Get out the vote made his prediction correct. Since then there are no more DUI's in Bush's record and the GOP has sucessfully implemented their 72 hour program in 2002 and will repeat it this year.

Lieberman practically moving to FL made it close due to ethic pride from the NY transplanted Jews. This will not happen in 2004 and Jeb won huge.

I'm predicting Bush get 325+. I may revise this based on how the campaigns are being run, but this is where I think the election stands now.

According to the a few posts in The Corner. Turnout is low, from "The Phili Inquirer" Specter's back yard. 2:15 to go.

    GO PAT GO.

I personally don't believe Florida will be close. Republicans are very strong in the state. I believe they hold all statewide offices, excluding the current Senate seats. I believe the only reason Al Gore ran close was because he had a Jew on the ticket that practically moved to Florida.

I think in Nov Bush will carry FL easily and we will gain a Seante seat there.

The Club for Growth has been itching for a RINO scalp and I think they will get one tomorrow. I believe Bush will pressure Specter to endorse and campaign for Toomey and will probably offer him a position in the second administration if he plays along. I think Bush has a better chance of winning PA with Tommey on the ticket.

Considering the number of open seats and the huge financial advantage the GOP has I think we're in line for a 4 seat pickup. If Kerry continues to be such a poor candidate this may move up to 6 seats.

The NRSC has already told K Street to ignore these threats. Everyone believes the Republicans are going to gain seats this Election cycle. Who would you rather upset Murray or Stevens (R) chair of the Appropriation committee, Nethercut's former boss.
  • Gov. Vilsack [D-IA] OKs $503 million fund, vetoes $310 million tax cut ; GOP says veto illegal

It's true the Gov has the power and has the right to use it. However the GOP legislature can inform him that they won't fund his internet tax (which will pay for this) unless he signs the tax cut. Then Vilsack woon't be able to spend the fund since there is no money unless he caves.

The reason Lott was removed was that he was an ineffective Leader. The Republican were looking to get rid of him and this gave them the opportunity. Dachle was running rings around him on the Senate floor. If he had been effective, he would have handled the aftermath better and defended his record better. The Dems overplayed their hand. Frist will not be as easy to deal with as Lott was, which is why in the end both Rep. Jophn Lewis and James Carville said they accepted Lott's apology, and why Daschle dissmissed the comment in the beginning.

What is frustrating is that the Republican Party is the only party promoting ideas to help all the underpriviledged:
    Here's a few examples:
Early 80's: Capital Zone R-Yes D-No, adopted in early 90's as Enterpise Zones, Result more jobs in minority community
Crime (Most crime is on Same race): R-Tough on Crime D-Tough on Cops, Result Safer Minority Neighborhoods
Welfare Reform: R-Yes D-No, Result: Fewer Minorities dependent on Govt.
    Upcoming:
School Choice: R-Trust Parents D-Trust Teachers Union, Republican offer parents escape for failing schools, Dem's don't
Medical Reform: R-Tax Payer Choice, D-Medicare only, Republican plan covers more people for less money.
Social Security: R-For Individual Accounts D-Staus Quo, Shorter life span for Minorities mean they are subsidizing other retiremnet, Republican plan will allow them to pass assets to their Heirs.
Race Issues: Republican Deal with their problems (Lott), The Dems Cover thiers up (Byrd)

With all this it's amazing that Blacks are still voting Dem in such high numbers.

Lott has been a terrrible Majority Leader with he weak spine. It would be better for the conservative cause if steped down as majority leader, but remained in the Senate. He made an off hand remark to pay a compliment to a retiring collegue that was blown out of proportion. He should stick it to the Dems on the way out by proposing a change to Senate Rules that no Klansman or Former Klansman (aka Robert Byrd) can Serve as a Committee Chair or Ranking Member. Let's see how the Hypocrite Rats try to weasel out of that vote to punish one of their racist collegues.

The NJ election is over. If the Senate refuses to sit Lousenberg, it will createa vacancy, which McGreedy can fill with a D congressman or a D from the State Senate or Legislature that will run as an incumbet in 2 years. The Louse quit since he was in the minority, he'll probably do so again and we won't need to run against an incumbent.
