The Club for Growth is demanding that Arlen Specter say he'll endorse the winner of tomorrow's GOP US Senate Primary even it's US Representative Pat Toomey.
Isn't it sad we cant be sure he will do the right thing?
I don't know the answer to that, but I do know they are an invaluable asset in close race open seats. I think they view their mission in GOP primaries to at least rough up a RINO incumbent. That's usually easier to do to a House member given they run every 2 years. With 6 year terms a Senator can raise more money and make a much more difficult target. They certainly help in open seat general elections. But with a what, 95-98% relection rate in general elections, its always an uphill battle.
Considering the number of open seats and the huge financial advantage the GOP has I think we're in line for a 4 seat pickup. If Kerry continues to be such a poor candidate this may move up to 6 seats.
I'm not sure of the logic in this. From my view, if Toomey wins, the seat becomes in play for the general election. More fraud and dead votes come out of Philly as the unions crank up their machine to see that this 'right wing, blah blah blah' doesn't end up being the vote that confirms the next Clarance Thomas, etc. Those same dead voters who will vote against Toomey will vote against Bush.
Why? Do they want Toomey to lose in the general?
