It appears there is a chance I will be moving to CT in the next year or so. I've never lived in the NE, nor in such a blue state. What's it like? Any advice? My children are grown, but I will be there with grandchildren. Any info on private schools? No need to discuss public schools as that is out of the question. Thanks

When Victoria Soto heard gunfire ricocheting off the normally quiet hallways of Sandy Hook Elementary School, she didn’t run and hide. Instead, the 27-year-old teacher gathered her first-grade class into the closet and bravely placed herself between the young children and Adam Lanza, the heavily-armed shooter.

Touche, Tom Leppert. Someone on your campaign staff is pretty darn clever. Leppert, the former Dallas mayor, is running for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate. He couldn't resist taking a jab at President Obama's "Obama Bracket Challenge."

After a comprehensive review, the Board of Trustees has, at my recommendation, voted unanimously to eliminate our intercollegiate football program in order to redirect those resources toward academic initiatives and need-based scholarships. This decision is not a budget reduction, but rather a strategically driven reallocation of resources. We have no plans for any further major changes to our Division I athletics program, which we believe is an integral part of a fully textured university experience. We will continue to host 17 intercollegiate sports and to continue to invest significantly in our athletics program. However, at the Football Championship Subdivision (formerly...

Goppy is a bright, young, fun-loving elephant with an incredible passion for America. Based on a dedication to the American family, the Goppy Project exists to teach young children the values of Individual Responsibility, Civic Duty, Freedom, Capitalism and Conservatism through a series of books that kids will love and parents will appreciate for their instructional value. Goppy’s first book, “Teach a Donkey to Fish,” emphasizes the importance of self-responsibility. Goppy teaches his friend Libby to work hard and earn money for the things she wants to buy. And as a result of Libby’s hard work, she learns that nothing...

Some D.C. public charter schools continue selective admissions practices that discourage special-needs students from enrolling, and students citywide with possible disabilities still face delays in special education evaluations, a federal court monitor said this week. "Charter schools . . . generally have not enrolled students with significant disabilities who required extensive hours of special services or education," the monitor, Amy Totenberg, wrote in a report prepared for a court hearing yesterday.

Many of Americans are not aware of basic bankruptcy law. GM can file in any court district in which it has an office. However, some districts are special. NJ, NY, MI, and DE are areas where there is NO CAP on lawyer fees. If the current administration is serious about saving the tax payers money, they will force GM to file in a place where the lawyers are capped My personal bet is NY

Does anyone know how to save the "Barney-Cam" videos currently on the White House site? I like them and enjoy them every year at Christmas and would like to be able to see them again Any ideas?

My daughter's PC died last night probably due to a systems upgrade sent by Microsoft. I strongly suspect this upgrade as the culprit as my desktop had the same symptoms after the same upgrade. The cost to fix was about 300. I'm not willing to put that into repairs for hers because she was already having massive other problems. So, based on everything I've read (largely here) I'm looking for a used Mac. Is there anyone who would be willing to just look over a couple or three postings that I've found on Craigslist and another site that sells refurbished...

Stephen Knolls School suffered the ignominy of failure under federal law in 2006 and 2007 for low test scores. This year, the Kensington school finally made the grade in reading and math -- only to be sanctioned for poor attendance. The challenge in this case is not truancy. Stephen Knolls serves medically fragile children with severe physical and cognitive disabilities, such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida and Rett syndrome. SNIP Nine Stephen Knolls students missed 50 or more days of school last school year, some to complications from surgery, others from prolonged respiratory illness or the pain of muscle contractures....

A student gave me a McCain/Palin sticker this morning. I put it up on my bulletin board. Since I teach at a public school is there any reason why I can't have a political sticker there?

Dallas public school students who flunk tests, blow off homework and miss assignment deadlines can make up the work without penalty, under new rules that have angered many teachers.

Private schools across the Washington region have begun to feel the effects of the nation's economic slumber, as some families seek more financial aid to help with staggering tuition bills and others simply opt out of paying for an education.
