Thomas Gingeras did not intend to upend basic ideas about how the human body works. In 2012 the geneticist, now at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in New York State, was one of a few hundred colleagues who were simply trying to put together a compendium of human DNA functions. Their project was called ENCODE, for the Encyclopedia of DNA Elements. About a decade earlier almost all of the three billion DNA building blocks that make up the human genome had been identified. Gingeras and the other ENCODE scientists were trying to figure out what all that DNA did. The assumption...

A high school in southeastern Indiana came under fire on Thursday after forcing a student to remove an American flag from his vehicle. The student’s mother relayed the events in a social media post. Cameron Blasek, a senior at East Central High School in St. Leon, was called into the principal’s office on Thursday and was told to remove the flag or be written up for insubordination. The post says that after being told to take the flag off his truck, he pulled out the school’s handbook and “pointed out that nowhere in the handbook does it mention the word...

Former Green Beret and the founder and director of the 1208 Foundation Thomas Kasza accused The Walt Disney Company and its subsidiary National Geographic of creating a hit list that was used to target American allies in Afghanistan. ---- Next, Kasza made his accusation against The Walt Disney Company and National Geographic, “Now, given this current audience I imagine that many here are likely familiar with the National Geographic’s documentary Retrograde, which chronicles the final collapse of Afghanistan. And what makes it so impactful and so unconsciously damnable is that no faces are blurred, no identity is concealed whether American...

As thousands of college students prepare to descend on the University of Oklahoma’s football stadium for a faith-based concert, one pastor says he’s not at all surprised by Generation Z’s enthusiasm. “This generation is really kind of tired of all the rules and rituals that come along with religion, and they are setting out to really forge a faith that is authentic, experiential and real,” said pastor Jarrett Stevens of the Soul City Church in Chicago. ----- One of the things Stevens believes may be driving younger generations away from religion is many institutions’ understanding of inclusivity. “Having grown up...

Disney Plus is now home to content marketed to kindergarteners that deals with extremely divisive and controversial social topics of the day. That's already strange enough, but combine that with a previously disclosed "not so secret agenda" and you'll find discover Disney is solely on one side of the propaganda game. A nuanced or neutral presentation this is not. Instead, the loveable characters from the original Proud Family television show have been brought back only to push extreme ideology, world views, and political beliefs on your children.

The corporate media is working overtime to hide the Republican establishment’s failures in the 2022 midterm elections –perpetuating a myth that Donald J. Trump dragged his endorsed candidates down. This is a complete lie, told in order to embolden GOP leaders in Washington D.C., and ignores the fact that in so many instances, this same “McLeadership” set MAGA candidates up for failure. In my situation, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) – led by Chairman Tom Emmer – backed one of my opponents in the primary. She finished in third place, with less than 30 percent of the total Republican...

It was a SHAM REFERENDUM! the media screams. Do recall that Zelinskyy declared that if you voted in these "shams" that was to be considered a criminal offense punishable by imprisonment. This, of course, has been "memory-holed" all over the Internet -- but was reported at the time. Do remember that the Government of Ukraine has done this before. Specifically, they refused the right of the people to decide in 2014, which was also reported, this after the Ukraine government itself was deposed in a literal coup complete with shooting the people who didn't like the way things were going...

Walt Disney World Cast Members are now addressing guests as “friend,” rather than sir or ma’am in the latest effort to promote inclusivity. The neutral “friend” moniker allows Cast Members to address individuals without assuming their gender identity. Similar changes have been made around the resort, such as the switch from “ladies and gentlemen” to “dreamers of all ages” in the pre-fireworks announcements. Some Cast Members had already elected to use “friend” when they address guests, but it has become commonplace over the last few weeks. In 2021, Disney announced the addition of “Inclusion” as a 5th key, which serve...

In related news, Holcomb also vetoed House Bill 1041 on Monday which would have banned transgender female high school athletes from playing on the girls’ teams. The bill had previously faced criticism despite passing through both the Indiana House and Senate. “It’s encouraging to see Governor Eric Holcomb tell his party that their culture wars have crossed the line. Signing House Bill 1041 into law would have put the lives of our children in jeopardy. However, this unnecessary debate has set a tone with kids that being transgender means something is wrong with them. It must be said that nothing...

As Russia's brutal invasion of Ukraine grinds on into its fourth week, the physical war rages in the cities and countryside, while an information war is waged over the airwaves and on the internet and social media. On the actual battlefield, the Russian offensive has undoubtedly slowed over the past week. But what is being described as a 'stalled' takeover may be the result of the Russians taking time to reorganize their forces and improve their logistics. On the Western side of the information war, we were told from the opening days of the conflict that the Russian military would...

After the controversy surrounding Disney’s response to Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill, Pixar has added a same-sex kiss back into the upcoming film “Lightyear.” On March 9, Pixar employees released a statement directed at Disney leadership stating they had been forced to cut “nearly every moment of overtly gay affection… regardless of when there is protest from both the creative teams and executive leadership at Pixar.” Variety now reports that a moment of gay affection has been added back into “Lightyear.” The character of Hawthorne, voiced by Uzo Aduba, is seen in a meaningful relationship with another woman. According to...

A federal appeals court panel on Friday allowed President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate for larger private employers to move ahead. The 2-1 decision by a panel of the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reverses a decision by a federal judge in a separate court that had paused the mandate nationwide. The rule from the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration was to take effect Jan. 4. With Friday’s ruling, it’s not clear when the requirement may be put in place. Republican-led states joined with conservative groups, business associations and some individual businesses to push back against the requirement...

Charlottesville City Council has determined the fate of one of the statues removed this past July. Just past midnight Tuesday, December 7, a historic decision was made: four city councilors (Vice Mayor Sena Magill was away tending to a family emergency) voted to give the statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee to the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center. There, it will be melted and transformed into a new piece of art “that expresses the city’s values of inclusivity and racial justice,” according to the organization’s bid. “The only option I would consider for the Lee statue is the...
