Democratic 7th District candidate Andre Carson is already under fire in his bid to take his grandmother's place in Congress for refusing to repudiate an endorsement he received from controversial Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. Now Carson is relying on the help of a Washington-based Muslim leader who has been highly critical of an important U.S. ally, Israel. More found HERE

Indiana State Representative and Congressional Special Election candidate Jon Elrod (R) has pledged today that he will not use nor support earmarks in any legislation when elected to Congress. From the Indianapolis Star (cannot link per FR policy towards Gannett) Congressional candidate Jon Elrod, who has tried to make fiscal responsibility the hallmark of his campaign for the seat vacated by the death of Julia Carson, said today that he would not put controversial earmarks into federal budget bills. Elrod, who is running in the March 11 special election against Democrat Andre Carson and Libertarian Sean Shepard, said he also...

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is the campaign arm for U.S. House Democrats, and one of their top priorities is seeing that Andre Carson is elected in the upcoming special election. They got him a Washington, DC, campaign team; a fancy new web site; and some large DC money. But their latest trick may have gone too far. Last week, a YouTube video surfaced online, essentially a scary attack adagainst Republican Jon Elrod, even containing the "paid for by DCCC" style disclaimer at the end. It was prominently featured on the DCCC's YouTube Channel (View this photo). The problem...

He is also is dogged by suspicions about his ties to the Islamic community, especially after Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan essentially endorsed the younger Carson during a eulogy at his grandmother's funeral two months ago... OVER A FIVE-DECADE career, Julia Carson parlayed her ties to the United Auto Workers union and her mentor, former Congressman Andy Jacobs, into a powerful coterie of churches and political officials that took control of one of the nation's few urban Republican strongholds. Her power was hard-won. Carson grand-mere worked all the angles, from sending out condolence letters to grieving constituents to cutting...

A frequent citizen attendee at Indianapolis City-County Council meetings has filed an ethics complaint with Council President Robert Cockrum (R) against Councilor Andre Carson (D). Ernie Shearer claims in his complaint that Carson became angry with him when he questioned him after the last council meeting about his vote against transferring control of IMPD from the sheriff's department to the mayor. He says Carson started shouting at him and ordered him out of the City-County Building. Shearer believes Carson's demeanor towards him was threatening and intimidating. The allegations laid out in Shearer's complaint are as follows: Immediately following the City...

Republican State Rep. and candidate for the March 11th Special Election Jon Elrod and Libertarian candidate Sean Shepard spoke at a community forum in front of about 50 voters. Meanwhile, Democrat candidate Andre Carson who previously RSVP'd his appearance called about 2 hours prior to the event to claim he had a scheduling conflict. You can hear the audio of the forum HERE or go to Apple's iTunes and search "Hoosier Access Radio" and find it there.

State Rep. Jon Elrod continues on the campaign trail in his tough but winnable election to represent the 7th Congressional District of Indiana. It's less than 30 days until the Special Election and his opponent Andre Carson has support of the DCCC, the NoI, the CBC, among other hard left groups. Jon has his dedicated grassroots and Your Support to turn the tide on this Congressional seat. As seen here on FR, FReepers are writing off 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue as a lost cause and concentrating on Congress in 2008. This is the first step to putting Congress back in the...

WTVP Channel 47 can survive - and even thrive - if it gets out from under its current debt burden. "If we just return to normal, we will be fine," said board President P. Joseph O'Neill. "It will be tight for the first couple of months, no doubt." The station held a news conference Tuesday to announce a tentative deal with its creditors. If the station can raise another $450,000, the banks will settle for $5.25 million. Under the new financing arrangements, WTVP will have $2 million in debt rather than the $8 million it carried last summer. (snip) The...

If WTVP, Channel 47, can raise another $450,000, the public television station and its creditors will have reached a tentative deal for $5.25 million. "We're excited," said station board president P. Joseph O'Neill. "Everybody is weary of this. The banks are. We are. We just have to find this last amount of money." The station has been scrambling for money since early December, after Bank of America and Commerce Bank demanded it pay off a $10.3 million loan. With penalties and interest, the balance stood at $7.2 million - and that was after WTVP used most of its cash reserves...

A brilliant sight indeed. Indianapolis City-County Council member and 7th District Congressional Candidate Andre Carson dancing around an issue like only Gregory Hines could, and attempted to counter with the race card. After an Indianapolis City-County Council meeting, A known Republican activist (no it wasn't me) asked Andre a simple question. "Will you renounce the support of Louis Farakkhan? Yes or No"Andre went into this spin of "supporting all people of all religions and colors" but would not directly answer the question. The activist then asked the Screwy Louie question again, and Andre Carson refused to give an answer and...

Jon is out and about pressing the flesh and raising much needed funds, his opponent Andre Carson already has the promises of a DCCC that is flush with Moonbat cash will finance his campaign. Today in the Indianapolis Star (linking not permitted, you can go to IndyStar.com and see the article), Brendan O'Shaughnessy wrote: "In less than six months, Andre Carson has gone from being a State Excise Police officer to a City-County Council member, an engineering firm [Paul I. Cripe] marketing executive and now a candidate for his grandmother's congressional seat" What is not said is Andre Carson was...

Over the coming weeks I'll be posting some tidbits on where Republican Congressional candidate Jon Elrod stands on various issues. The 7th District Special Election will be here before we know it - March 11th. Here's some of Jon's positions on issues which FReepers hold near and dear: 1. Fiscal Conservatism: balanced budgets; spending limited to inflation absent an emergency; funded social security, medicare, and medicaid; end pork barrel spending and earmarks. Wasn't the Democrat Congress supposed to implement PAYGO and end earmarks? They implemented PAYGO as their justification for increasing taxes but earmarks are still there. 2. Strong Military...

In the Republican caucus held tonight, Republican State Representative Jon Elrod (97th) handily won out over an "establishment backed" Republican candidate former Jerusalem Post boss Tom Rose. Jon gave his speech to the party faithful and you can hear it HERE. 30-year old Jon Elrod will face off against 33-year old Democrat candidate Andre Carson, grandson of former Congressperson Julia Carson.

The Marion County GOP will caucus this evening starting at 5 PM EST for the purpose of picking their candidate for not only the Special Election on March 11th to complete the term of the late Julia Carson, but also for the party supported candidate at the May 6th Indiana Primary. There are four candidates filed for the position, of which only 2 are realistically viable. State House of Representatives member Jon Elrod, and former Jerusalem Post boss and sometimes New York talk show host Tom Rose, and two "ballot fillers" Social Worker Gabrielle Campo and Real Estate professional Greg...
