(IN-07) Congressional Special Election: GOP caucuses today in Indianapolis
Posted on 01/13/2008 8:37:49 AM PST by Sir Hailstone
The Marion County GOP will caucus this evening starting at 5 PM EST for the purpose of picking their candidate for not only the Special Election on March 11th to complete the term of the late Julia Carson, but also for the party supported candidate at the May 6th Indiana Primary.
There are four candidates filed for the position, of which only 2 are realistically viable. State House of Representatives member Jon Elrod, and former Jerusalem Post boss and sometimes New York talk show host Tom Rose, and two "ballot fillers" Social Worker Gabrielle Campo and Real Estate professional Greg Stroud.
Julia Carson's grandson, Muslim and reputed member of the NoI Andre Carson won the Democrat caucus on Saturday over State House of Representatives member David Orentlicher.
If you will recall, Nation of Islam leader Louis Farakkhan spoke at Julia Carson's memorial.

I live in Indy and I can tell you that most people have no clue about Andre Carson's background nor the family's ties to the Muslim cult. The MSM here have said nothing about it...PC'ness gone amok...again.

NOte this excerpt:
“Julia Carson’s grandson, Muslim and reputed member of the NoI Andre Carson...”
If I were a Democrat, even a liberal one, I still wouldn’t want someone like that in Congress.

A few. State Representative Jon Elrod unseated a 12-year incumbent in a solidly Democrat-voting, blue-collar district by a narrow margin. He has proven cross-over appeal. However, there’s speculation that he’s running because he’s doubtful that he can be reelected in his legislative district in a Presidential year, when there be more straight-ticket voting.
Andre Carson is not a great candidate, IMHO. He basically inherited the nomination from his grandmother, who was a lefty politically, but a fine woman personally. The fact that he’s Muslim could come into play, even though no one will speak of it openly. There could be something in his background, although I don’t know this for a fact.
Hope you find that helpful.

Andre Carson had everything to him handed over so far. His grandmother arranged Andre's job with State Excise Police. He left Excise and used political connections to get a "marketing" job with Paul I. Cripe Co - a local, politically connected construction firm. He had his position on the City-County Council handed to him after local gay blogger
Gary Welsh outed his predecessor as not living within his district. Andre Carson has yet to actually campaign for an election.

That may make him a weak candidate. Which is good for Jon Elrod, whose grass roots campaign in 2006 was considered one of the best that year.

I used to have the “pleasure” of Julia Carson as my congresswoman. Even in 1994 when the repubs were sweeping, she won handily. It would be a tremendous upset for a republican to take this seat, so I wouldn’t get my hopes up. Not that it wouldn’t be nice.

Julia Carson was elected to Congress in 1996. And her predecessor, Andy Jacobs, was nearly defeated that year.

Ah, but remember that we now have Voter ID in Indiana. I think that helped the Republican win the mayorality last fall in Indianapolis.
I remain hopeful we could pick this seat up.

This cretin got the nomination ? Indianapolis ain’t St. Paul, and another national security-risk Mohammadan has no business in this seat (let alone any other).

Indianapolis ain’t St. Paul (actually Minneapolis) in another respect: it isn’t a one-party city. The Rodents may have put their worst foot forward.

Oops, I don’t know why I was thinking of St. Paul... Of course, they both have moonbat rodents.
