There are some really strange things going on in Detroit with the vote. First the Detroit Free Press wrote an article saying that over 59% of Detroit precincts couldn't be recounted due to mismatched votes. Then the claims that there are 85,000 uncounted votes in Detroit. So I did a little digging. First the Wayne County Clerk lists 1.134 million ballots cast, but if you add the total presidential votes there are 1.252 million total. Second, Detroit is listed as having a 97% voter turnout, but is short the 85,000 votes vs ballots cast. This matches votes cast for other...

Dallas — I am a Republican presidential elector, one of the 538 people asked to choose officially the president of the United States. Since the election people have asked me to change my vote based on policy disagreements with Donald J. Trump. In some cases, they cite the popular vote difference. I do not think president-elects should be disqualified for policy disagreements. I do not think they should be disqualified because they won the Electoral College instead of the popular vote. However, now I am asked to cast a vote on Dec. 19 for someone who shows daily he is...

This guy is great, I could see voting for him in 8 years. Is anyone else watching.

Inside ‘Bill Clinton Inc.’: Hacked memo reveals intersection of charity and personal income When top Bill Clinton aide Douglas Band wrote the memo, he was a central player at the Clinton Foundation and president of his own corporate consulting firm. Over the course of 13 pages, he made a case that his multiple roles had served the interests of the Clinton family and its charity. In doing so, Band also detailed a circle of enrichment in which he raised money for the Clinton Foundation from top-tier corporations such as Dow Chemical and Coca-Cola that were clients of his firm, Teneo,...

Simple question for other Freeper CPA's. Didn't Trump receive large loan write offs from the banks during the Atlantic City bankruptcy? Wouldn't those loan write offs count as income to Trump, and wouldn't the loss offset the income received from those loan write offs? So there would be no way that the 916 million was written off over 18 years? Why do you think Trump hasn't come out and said this? Does he just not want to go into his taxes?

Former Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, one of his top aides and others in Daley’s Chicago Police Department knew “shortly after the incident” that the mayor’s nephew was involved in the drunken confrontation that led to David Koschman’s death — even though police reports say detectives didn’t learn of the nephew’s involvement until 18 days later.

A Batavia High School teacher's fans are rallying to support him as he faces possible discipline for advising students of their Constitutional rights before taking a school survey on their behavior.....But John Dryden said he's not the point. He wants people to focus on the issue he raised: Whether school officials considered that students could incriminate themselves with their answers to the survey that included questions about drug and alcohol use....The survey was not a diagnostic tool, but a "screener" to figure out which students might need specific help, Newkirk said. Superintendent Jack Barshinger said teacher support for doing a...

WE LOST. These conspiracy theories are almost as bad as the DUmmies meltdown in ''04, and they had an excuse, they're barely functional drug using morons.

I took my mom to church last night (Roman Catholic) and was amazed that the last song the choir sang before mass was "Jesus was born a homeless child". Is this now considered a Christmas song?

When did kids stop saying thank you for all the candy they're getting. I am running about 1 in 4 of the kids saying thank you, and I am not talking about the little ones either. Only about half are even saying trick or treat. I also saw some parents following the kids in their car, and I am on a small circle street. Are they just too lazy to walk with the kids?

...Just my luck I only got a chance to meet one president, personally, and talk with him at length and that president -- lucky me -- was Jimmy Carter. He had been out of office a few years, was flogging a book, and a magazine sent me to Los Angeles to meet him. We spoke about half an hour and, frankly, I didn't like Carter. He was sour and grumpy and he did something that really annoyed me. His wife, Rosalynn, his supposed co-author, was there too, but whenever she tried to say anything, Carter would talk right over her,...

A former Wheaton College professor who was fired because he converted to Catholicism found himself this week at the center of a debate about diversity and theological perspectives in private, faith-based schools. Faculty members at the west suburban evangelical Protestant college must sign a faith statement that the Bible is the final authority. Catholics follow the authority of Scripture and the pope. Joshua Hochschild, an assistant professor of philosophy at Wheaton College for four years, became a Catholic on Easter 2004. He was dismissed last spring.

Did anyone else just see Toby singing Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue? What a great day, from W in Iraq, to this. The crowd went nuts. I can't believe that CBS would actually show this. I guess the NFL realizes their fans sympathies lie.

The following words were spoken by the late Red Skelton on his television program as he related the story of his teacher, Mr. Laswell, who felt his students had come to think of the Pledge of Allegiance as merely something to recite in class each day. Now, more than ever, listen to the meaning of these words. "I've been listening to you boys and girls recite the Pledge of Allegiance all semester and it seems as though it is becoming monotonous to you. If I may, may I recite it and try to explain to you the meaning of each...

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/937454/posts I would like to thank all the freepers who responded to my request for prayers for my late father. I spent the day today with my Mother and other family members. I shared with them my original post and all the beautiful sentiments with which all of you responded. It should have been a somber occasion, as we were picking cemetary plots, caskets, prayer cards etc. Indeed I saw some tears in all my relatives eyes as they recalled what a special man my Father was, and the generosity of people who did not know my Father but recognize...

Please a quick prayer for my father who died today from bilarial duct cancer at the age of 69. Although not unexpected, it came quicker than expected. My father was a staunch conservative who was deported from Eastern Poland to a Soviet concentration camp in the early stages of World War II at the age of 5. When the Soviets became our "allies", him and other war orphans were allowed to travel through the Soviet Union, through Iran, where the Shah's father expedited their travel to Polish orphanages in Africa, where he spent the next 7 years. He then emigrated...
