I would like to thank all the freepers who responded to my request for prayers for my late father. I spent the day today with my Mother and other family members. I shared with them my original post and all the beautiful sentiments with which all of you responded.
It should have been a somber occasion, as we were picking cemetary plots, caskets, prayer cards etc. Indeed I saw some tears in all my relatives eyes as they recalled what a special man my Father was, and the generosity of people who did not know my Father but recognize the spirit in which he lived. But most of the day was spent laughing and joking, as each person read the letters and responses, which brought out another round of jokes and stories, all recalling a man who would have kicked our a**es if he had seen us crying over a little thing that all men must face.
I thank JimRob for the forum with which I was able to express my thoughts, and also for bringing together such a fantastic group of people whose humanity and sentiment give lie to the idea that conservatives (and libertarians) are souless nazis who believe that only wealth is important.
I wonder what would have happened if I had posted the same request on a liberal website? I would first probably been pounded for daring to make any assumptions about everyones religious beliefs, than they would probably ban me as intolerant. I tried to thank everyone who responded individualy, but if I missed anyone, please excuse me, and thank you again for the forum.
