Thanks to fierce customer backlash and a strong anti-Cracker Barrel Twitter campaign, the restaurant tweeted on Sunday that Duck Dynasty products are back on the shelves.
  • Problem for Bezos: Mall Becoming Cheaper Than Amazon

  • The Faux Battle Over Online Sales Taxes

now the battle is joined. The Senate has passed, sending to The House, a bill that would impose a requirement that online merchants submit to state tax collection in states where they have no physical presence. To try to make this more palatable they are exempting businesses with less than $1 million in annual sales, but this doesn't matter when you get down to brass tacks. Amazon, WalMart and other large retailers with online presence are supporting this move. This sounds insane, but it in fact is not -- it is yet another attempt to destroy their competition using the...

Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul! I will praise the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being. Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation. When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish. Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, who keeps faith forever; who...

The eight week old son of my bride's best friend is facing major surgery tomorrow. Christopher's arteries feeding the heart are to small, and there is at least one hole in the heart itself. Please pray for him. The surgery will be tomorrow morning, and will last (God willing) for many hours. There is a real risk that Christopher will nor survive the surgery or the recovery.

The neurosurgeon said the surgery is very risky, but to do nothing would mean Dad would decay pretty fast. I am heading down to Omaha after the funeral today.

My father in law is loosing a lot of blood, and isn't expected to last long. My bride is there with him, but our daughter and I have not left yet. My bride left in a hurry last night before we had a chance to get everything packed, and a hospital is not a very easy place to have a 16 month old. I had asked for prayers a few months ago for Jim, and they were answered in a way. He has had little pain, and since my wife is a teacher he has been able to see her...

My father is going in for surgery Thursday to treat a brain aneurism. He was very lucky in that they found it two weeks ago, before any bleeding. He is going to have a coil inserted into the aneurism, which if successful should stop any chance of bleeding. However the aneurism is on the brain stem, and there are risks that the surgery could cause a rupture. At the same time, the father of my bride was diagnosed with cancer in his small intestines. The cancer has spread to his liver and spleen, and has blocked the bile duct of...

Thanks everyone for all the prayers! My daughter was born this morning at 3 AM, after some very short labor. My Brides water broke at 12:45 AM, and we got to the hosital 45 minutes before little Faith Esther was born into the world. Good news is, she has her mothers nose. Bad news is she has my eyes, hair, and head. Faith and my Bride are resting very comfortably. So much so they sent me home to get the house ready, and sneak a little sleep in a place where my snores won't wake up the other babies. Thanks...

My bride is in the hospital right now, with an irritable uterus. The worry is that she will go into pre term labor because of the Braxton Hicks contractions if they can't get them stopped. She has been in there since last night, and is pretty confident every thing will be ok, but they haven't been able to get them to stop yet. Please pray that the doctors can get the contractions to stop. She is due on Feb. 18th, and this is to soon to have the baby.

ELK POINT, S.D. - A Texas-based energy firm planning to build the first U.S. oil refinery in more than 30 years said today that Union County is a finalist for the $8 billion project. The refinery, which Hyperion Resources Inc. described as a "green energy technology center,'' would create as many 10,000 construction jobs and employ 1,800 after its completion in four years. Hyperion also is considering "alternative sites'' in at least two other Midwest states, project executive Preston Phillips said at a late afternoon news conference at the county courthouse. A final decision should come by the first half...

Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him." So Peter went out with the other disciple, and they were going toward the tomb. Both of them were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and...

Ladies and Gentlemen. Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, the start of the season of Lent. A season where we are called to reflect on the death and resurrection of Christ, and the reason He had to die in the first place. A time to repent, and to realize just how fallen and sinful we are, and that our sins are why Jesus had to be nailed to the cross. Lately, here in the FR Religion forum, there have been a lot of articles attacking other Christians. Now, there is a place for doctrinal discussions, and they are often fruitful. However the...

Joseph Bottum writes: Since September 11, 2001—or at least since the run-up to the invasion of Iraq, and probably since the invasion of Afghanistan—there has been a fundamental imbalance in the way the left and the right have perceived the use of the American military in the war against the Jihadists. Of course, a good-sized section of the middle—the non-ideological voters in the United States—wanted something done after the attacks of September 11, and they approved the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq (though, as the election yesterday proved, they have now soured on Iraq). But the more serious and committed...

Please pray that the Holy Spirit will lead this country to turn it's face back to God. Thank you.
