I got an email from my wife (a high school math teacher). One of the girls in her advisory class is being put under a lot of pressure to have an abortion. Don't know alot of the details, but she could use our prayers.

The mother would appear to be anti-choice.

Make sure the girl knows that she can sommit a great act of love by giving birth and allowing the baby to be adopted by a loving couple. She can even participate in the process of selecting the parents.

Giving birth is one of the most profound experiences of a woman's life; it affects her understanding of her personhood and of God's goodness and love for the rest of her life. What could merit prayer more?!
May the Blessed Virgin Mary cause this young woman come to know the state of grace that lies within her. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

I believe it is illegal in some states to pressure a woman into having an abortion.
The girl involved should request a hearing before a court judge to find out what her rights are. If she is old enough she might even consider emanicipation.
She and her preborn child have my prayers.

Prayers up. Abortion is not really about “choice,” and never was.

Talked a little more with my bride tonight as she got home from work.
This young woman wanted to keep the baby. But her mother keeps saying “I had you brother at 19 and it ruined my life!” and saying that the “responsible” thing was to kill the baby. So now, the young woman realizes the woman who gave birth to her wished her brother was dead. My bride has been counseling this young woman for a while now.
There was an email this morning that said the young woman in question was going to be out for “surgery”, and my bride is very upset. Seems the evil (for that is what she is) mother got her way.
I can’t understand people sometimes. I am a block head, and a rather harsh fellow at times, but I have never, ever, understood how one could say to their child “kill my grand child, as I wished I had killed you.” I truly can’t understand it. What kind of sick person would do that?

“What kind of sick person would do that?”
Usually, it is a very selfish person and/or one who is more concerned about what the neighbors and relatives will say.

Are there Christian homes for unwed girls in your town? That might be a good place to let her visit while ar the same time letting her know that she has a choice.

Prayers that your wife may say the words that are needed (Christ will give her the words; she need not worry!)
Also prayers for the young girl that she may resist this pressure.
And finally prayers for the people who are putting pressure on this student. Perhaps the student is getting it from her own parents, from peers or even from the school counselor.
May the Lord bless your wife abundantly in this situation.
