While speaking at a private fundraiser, former president Bill Clinton scoffed at working class voters. Clinton also claimed that “non-Evangelical white working class people” are simply supporting Trump because “they have an IV hooked up to FOX News.” “So when Trump says, ‘I’ll build a wall around Mexico and no more illegal immigrants can get in'” Clinton said, “Believe me, nobody in coal country lost a job because of a Latin-American immigrant. They lost their industry.”

For the first day since ballot return numbers started being counted on Monday, Colorado Republicans returned more ballots Thursday than Colorado Democrats. The Colorado Secretary of State’s Office updates the number of ballots returned via mail and votes made in-person each day, and breaks down the votes by which party each person who submitted a ballot is registered for.

Most House Democrats tried to put a good face on Tuesday's election results, saying they picked up two more votes for a sweeping health care bill that could be on the floor as early as Friday. But it can't make Speaker Nancy Pelosi's job any easier as she works to corral those last holdouts she needs to approve the bill. Of course, the speaker, who told Politico recently she's "not big on showing weakness," brushed aside questions about how the election results would impact her final tally and instead trumped the two special election wins. "From our perspective we won...

Vice President Joe Biden, well-known for his verbal gaffes, may have finally outdone himself, divulging potentially classified information meant to save the life of a sitting vice president. According to a report, while recently attending the Gridiron Club dinner in Washington, an annual event where powerful politicians and media elite get a chance to cozy up to one another, Biden told his dinnermates about the existence of a secret bunker under the old U.S. Naval Observatory, which is now the home of the vice president. The bunker is believed to be the secure, undisclosed location former Vice President Dick Cheney...

The Fox network is sticking with its regular schedule over President Barack Obama this week. The network is turning down the president's request to show his prime-time news conference on Wednesday. The news conference marks Obama's 100th day in office. Instead of the president, Fox viewers will see an episode of the Tim Roth drama "Lie to Me." It's the first time a broadcast network has refused Obama's request. This will be the third prime-time news conference in Obama's presidency. ABC, CBS and NBC are airing it.

It was a proud moment for Linda Brown when then-Vice President-elect Joe Biden selected her kennel to purchase his new German shepherd puppy. That was in mid-December. For Brown, that proud moment was short-lived. After the story about the puppy sale ran in the newspapers and on TV newscasts, three dog wardens from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture showed up on Brown's doorstep for a kennel inspection. And they showed up again and again for four visits over four months. She said she has also received death threats from animal activists against her and Biden, which were reported to the...

Officials say President Barack Obama will sign an executive order today ending the ban on federal funds for international groups that promote or perform abortion. The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorize to pre-empt Obama's announcement. The so-called "Mexico City policy" bans U.S. taxpayer money from going to international family planning groups that either offer abortions or provide information, counseling or referrals about abortion.

As Republicans, we face a choice. Either we can spend the next several months -- or years -- trying to figure out what just happened, excusing our defeat away as a temporary blip or the result of a poor environment, and waiting for Barack Obama to trip up. Or we can refuse to take this defeat lying down, and start building the future of our party now. 2008 made one thing clear: if allowed to go unchecked, the Democrats' structural advantages, including their use of the Internet, their more than 2-to-1 advantage with young voters, their discovery of a better...

Well, the Democratic Party has finally gone to the dogs. At least, that’s the way it appears and, for Captain Chito of the Hamilton Crossroads community, it’s a laughing matter. On Oct. 10, the Alabama Democratic Party sent a letter to Chito offering him congratulations for taking the first step in the voter registration process. Chito was advised to simply fill out the attached voter registration form, being certain to fully answer each question. Chito’s signature was also needed to ensure “expedient processing.” In the letter, signed by Joe Turnham, chairman, Alabama Democratic Party, Chito was told that, after the...

A New York poll finds Sen. Barack Obama's lead in the state has fallen to five points, down from 18 points in June. The Siena Research Institute poll has Obama, a Democrat, leading Sen. John McCain 46 to 41 percent among likely voters in the heavily Democratic state. He led 51-33 in the June survey.

Barack Obama’s “lipstick on a pig” comment grabbed all the headlines Wednesday, but a line he delivered just before that remark is leading critics to wonder whether the Democratic presidential candidate’s speechwriter is a cartoonist. On Tuesday, for the third time in four days, Obama borrowed a lengthy bubble quote from Washington Post cartoonist Tom Toles. He did not acknowledge the origin of the quote the first time he used it and credited the cartoon only after the Post contacted the Obama campaign to ask about the first use. “John McCain says he’s about change, too. And so, I guess...

Two known Democratic supporters are outraged at their own party after being solicited to buy tickets to Barack Obama's acceptance speech at Invesco Field next Thursday, CBS4 reports. The seats were distributed for free to the general public. One source directed CBS4 to an unpublicized part of the Obama campaign's Web site where Democratic supporters, reportedly with deep pockets, could buy tickets for $1,000 each. The source told CBS4 he was solicited three times to buy the tickets through the Web site. One source said it was unethical and being kept secret from the public. CBS4 was able to find...

Shotgun Willie's strip club is trolling for some free publicity at former President Bill Clinton's expense. "Bill Clinton, 3 nights only — (Aug.) 25, 26, 27," the strip club's sign on busy Colorado Boulevard declares, referring to the looming Democratic National Convention and the former president who attracted some infamy with his long ago relationship with a White House intern. The sign's other side says: "Welcome Democratic National Convention." Clearly, it's a tongue-and-cheek bid for customers amid the 50,000 delegates, journalists and other visitors drawn by the presidential-nominating fest. "We expect that, given the nature of the business, we're probably...

John McCain leads Barack Obama by seven percentage points in the race for Missouri’s Electoral College votes. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in Missouri shows John McCain attracting 48% of the vote while Barack Obama earns 41%. This is the third time in the last four months that McCain’s support has been at 47% or 48%. The one exception came in early June—McCain’s support dipped as Obama was wrapping up the Democratic Presidential nomination.

In an election in critical swing-state Florida for President of the United States today, 08/04/2008, Republican John McCain defeats Democrat Barack Obama, 50% to 44%, according to this latest SurveyUSA poll pre-election poll conducted exclusively for WFLA-TV Tampa and WKRG-TV Pensacola.

John McCain is now winning among likely Colorado voters, helped by a surge of sentiment blaming Democrats for the soaring price of gas, new poll results show. The Quinnipiac University polls shows McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee, the top choice among 46 percent of likely Colorado voters. Democrat Barack Obama is the top choice among 44 percent of likely voters. A month ago, Obama held a 49-44 percent lead over McCain in the same poll. And in the U.S. Senate race, Republican Bob Schaffer has closed the gap against Democrat Mark Udall. Udall was ahead a month ago by 10...

Barack Obama's campaign scrubbed his presidential Web site over the weekend to remove criticism of the U.S. troop "surge" in Iraq, the Daily News has learned. The presumed Democratic nominee replaced his Iraq issue Web page, which had described the surge as a "problem" that had barely reduced violence. "The surge is not working," Obama's old plan stated, citing a lack of Iraqi political cooperation but crediting Sunni sheiks - not U.S. military muscle - for quelling violence in Anbar Province. The News reported Sunday that insurgent attacks have fallen to the fewest since March 2004. Obama's campaign posted a...
