  • Praying for the Dead Terrorist? No Wonder the Episcopal Curch is Dying

At my small Episcopal church yesterday, we prayed for all those "killed" in the "tragic" Boston Marathon bombing. That was bad enough--those people were murdered and it was anything but a tragedy. Then we had to pray for the dead terrorist--which I refused to do. How unbiblical can you get. The dead terrorist didn't repent before his death. His soul went straight to Hell. Praying for him is basically praying for evil if you ask me. We also prayed for the still living terrorist. I can see that--he's still alive and can repent. But we didn't pray for the Holy...
  • This is What the National Council of Churches Wants YOU to Hear on Sunday, 9/11/11 - VANITY

National Council of Churches | 9/7/11 | Piperpilot
I am scheduled to be a reader at my church this Sunday on the Tenth anniversary of 9/11. Yesterday, the minister sent me the special 9/11 reading that was prepared by the National Council of Churches for parishioners to hear. While most of it was fine, there are some prayers that are appalling to any right-thinking Christian and deserve to be publicized for their stunning example of moral relativism and anti-Biblical message. "We stand together in penitence, recognizing that we have not done enough to address the sources of anger, hate, dehumanization, rage and indignation that lead to acts of...

There has been a lot of talk about Osama Bin Laden's million-dollar hideout and how he has been living in luxury for the past six years. I'm sorry, but look at the place. It looks like dump.

On my way home from work tonight, I witnessed a mob of approximately 50 teens beating another teen and kicking him in the head right in the middle of 6 lanes of rush hour traffic on Connecticut Avenue just outside the National Zoo. It was terrifying. They left the victim lying in the middle of the street. He eventually stood up and was clearly dazed as he tried to walk. Eventually someone called him to the sidewalk and he managed to stumble away. Police were called but the traffic was simply too heavy for them to be able to catch...
  • Unkempt Median Strips A Sign of Social Decline?

I have a long commute. I travel on surface roads to and from my job in DC every day. All those hours spent sitting at traffic lights affords me plenty of time to observe my surroundings. Everywhere from the District through the Maryland suburbs of Chevy Chase, Kensington, Silver Spring and Olney, median strips have been left to high grass, weeds, storm debris and leaves. They are mowed only two to three times during the prime growing season, and when they are mowed, the overly long grass is blown out into the street where it becomes a hazard for drivers,...

The liberals in my DC-based office are absolutely apoplectic today. It wasn't enough that they had the judicial election in Wisconsin "stolen" from them. No. No. No. Now those "evil" Republicans are shutting down their beloved federal government over [gasp] a social issue! They literally are talking about how they have developed ulcers as a result of the situation. Then they bemoan how, again, those "EVIL" Republicans are taking needed healthcare away from women. The horror of it all!!!! All week they have been decrying Paul Ryan's proposed budget cuts, but today their disquiet can no longer be contained. It's...

Heightened efforts by the Drug Enforcement Administration to crack down on narcotics abuse are producing a troubling side effect by denying some hospice and elderly patients needed pain medication, according to two Senate Democrats and a coalition of pharmacists and geriatric experts.
  • Republican on Kudlow Last Night: "We're Trying to Slow Down Health Care Reform?" (VANITY)

My husband was watching Kudlow's show on CNBC last night and said that Kudlow was interviewing a Republican about health care reform. My husband said he thought the Republican was from Kentucky (McConnell?). Anyway, when Kudlow asked the elected official what the Republicans were doing about health care reform, the response was that they were "trying to slow it down." Uhhhh . . . c'est what?!?!?!?! My husband was absolutely incensed that, as usual, the Republicans were planning to roll over and let the Democrats get their way on something so critical as the sham that is health care "reform."...

I received the following message from the Republican minority House delegation regarding the slots referendum on the November ballot: Vote Against Question 2! BY Anthony J. O’Donnell – House of Delegates Republican Leader and Christopher B. Shank – House of Delegates Republican Whip Over the last few months, the citizens of this state have been bombarded with a variety of myths regarding the slots constitutional amendment. There have been radio and television ads that warn ominously of tax hikes and cuts to education and public safety if slots are not authorized. This fear-mongering ad campaign is financed by a handful...

FORT WORTH, Texas - American Airlines will start charging $15 for the first checked bag, cut domestic flights and lay off workers as it grapples with record-high fuel prices. ADVERTISEMENT The nation's largest carrier said Wednesday the fee for the first checked bag starts June 15 and that it would raise other fees for services ranging from reservation help to oversized bags. The other fees will mostly range from $5 to $50 per service, the airline said. Last month American announced it would join other carriers in charging $25 for second bags checked for some passengers, but it wasn't immediately...

Five days after 9/11, George Bush stated “This crusade, this war on terrorism is gonna take awhile. And the American people must be patient. I’m gonna be patient.” America has been running from that speech ever since. It doesn’t matter that George Bush used the word “crusade,” not in a religious sense, but in a more literary, erudite sense, to mean “a vigorous concerted movement for a cause or against an abuse.” Because the President is known to be a religious man, his detractors and our enemies abroad have latched onto that single word to characterize all of America’s subsequent...
  • John Gibson's Back and Just Laughed at Jane Harmon

After having a substitute host all week, John Gibson returned to The Big Story today and started off his show by laughing incredulously at Jane Harmon who was trying to argue that Al Qaida in Iraq was only a small part of the insurgency and that the insurgents weren't in a position to know whether their situation was bleak or not. It was absolutely classic. I didn't see if Gibson had a smart-ass smirk but just the audio alone was awesome, particularly when he let out the giggle. I really like Gibby and it's things like this bring a smile...

Anybody know what is going on in NW DC on Calvert St. past the Omni Shoreham? I work near there and have been hearing sirens since 11:30 a.m. I walked up there a few minutes ago and saw a lot of fire trucks (but there is no fire or smoke that I could see), police cars, an ambulance and other first responder vehicles. I stopped when I saw a guy dressed in a white space suit with a mask and an oxygen tank strapped to his back standing next to one of the fire trucks. Also, even though the situation...

I think I have hit bottom today in terms of my outlook about the future of this the greatest, most free nation in the world. After the fawning coverage of the "immigration" protests yesterday, the continued slide of the President's poll numbers, the inability of politicians (on both sides of the aisle) to place the needs of the country above their own selfish desire to be re-elected, the lack of leadership from the President on so many important issues, the continued decline of moral standards and decency, et al., I have exhausted my reserve of optimism. I've grown weary of...
