My theory, in a nutshell, is that the Civil War was fought because the rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness recognized in the Declaration of Independence trumped states’ rights in that instance. It was an extreme situation and something not resolved at the founding. Otherwise, states’ rights should prevail except for the federal powers enumerated in the Constitution.
I’m still on the Byron Donalds train. Incredible public speaker and so right on the issues! However, I suspect it will be Rubio and Donalds will be the next governor of my state, Florida. Of all of them, Rubio is in the sweet spot of age and experience and is also a very good speaker. His past positions on some of the issues is a negative, so I would still rather have Donalds.
Small donations make a big difference too, as they are many. I’m working on giving a couple of $50 donations a month to Republicans in close House races (in addition to an occasional Trump donation).
Mary did not ascend, but the tradition is that her body went to heaven with her soul at the moment of her death, and no one ever claimed to have her remains to my knowledge (the truth of the Catholic Faith is found both in Scripture and Tradition).
Concerning Purgatory, see Matthew 5:28 - “Amen, I say to you, you will not be released until you have paid the last penny.”
Yes to Donald’s. I understand he was at the Mar a Lago meeting this weekend with other possibles so he’s still in the running. He can hold his own in any forum, supports and agrees with Trump on the issues, and would increase our share of the black vote.

The most important thing is to keep the majority until November. There will be two special elections, one in Mc Carthy’s district, so it won’t be just by one vote for too long. If Hakeem Jefffies becomes speaker, the dream is to pass a law denying Secret Service protection to convicted felons, aka the future Donald Trump.
That’s what I’ve been thinking. He could fly to several swing states in the evenings and have one hour rallies, as he doesn’t need much sleep. I wonder if the judge then extend the court hours.
Actually, that district was changed a few years ago to include my rural north Florida county in a district that went from west Jacksonville across several small, red counties to Tallahassee. Al Lawson from Tallahassee was our rep, a step up from Corinne but still reliably Dem. Now our new district is represented by the wonderful Kat Cammack and I sure hope it stays that way!
