A three-judge federal panel Wednesday rejected a constitutional challenge to a congressional redistricting plan that Gov. Ron DeSantis pushed through the Legislature in 2022, saying opponents did not prove lawmakers acted with "racially discriminatory purpose."
The decision was the second time in less than four months that courts have upheld the map in cases focused on the overhaul of a North Florida district that in the past elected a Black Democrat. The state's 1st District Court of Appeal on Dec. 1 backed the plan - a decision that has been appealed to the Florida Supreme Court.

The North Florida District the article mentions at one time was represented by Corrine Brown who ended up in prison. She was a clone of Shiela Jackson-Lee except dumber.
Originally the district covered parts of Jacksonville all the way down to Orlando and in some places the district was divided by a railroad track, a completely gerrymandered district that was specifically designed to elect a black American, the district is now gone.
Ron’s on a roll.
Blacks are now 17% of Florida population.
That’s a pretty low percentage for a southern state.
They previously suffered replacement by Cubans, now by illegals.
DeSantis is too good for the GOP.
Terrible presidential candidate, but great governor.
He was honest and has integrity vs a Name calling Sleazy Queens carpet bagger deadbeat who He Stopped from sticking the FL residents with
5 million of Donnies Legal fees .
DeSantis belonged to a S&B sister club at Yale and IMO is a ticking uniparty explosion. But Trump IMO is controlled for critical issues as well. Still, Trump gets my vote.
Actually, that district was changed a few years ago to include my rural north Florida county in a district that went from west Jacksonville across several small, red counties to Tallahassee. Al Lawson from Tallahassee was our rep, a step up from Corinne but still reliably Dem. Now our new district is represented by the wonderful Kat Cammack and I sure hope it stays that way!
That’s true, after the 2020 Census and Districts were redrawn, you now have a normal compact RED district, not some district setup to get someone Black elected to Congress.
The worst one was the original Corinne Brown district, the Al Lawson was basically the same thing it just wasn’t as obvious.
