I am taking a Western Civ class in college and we're about to study the beginnings of Jewish history. Being a good conservative and a Christian who highly respects my elder bretheren in my faith in God, I always question history books. Revisionist history has never been my cup of tea. I'm looking for someone who is VERY knowledgeable in Jewish history - especially as it pertains to early civilization. If you don't mind answering questions, please let me know.

I would like to request prayers for the soul of my Godfather, James Smith, who passed away. He was a gentle, unobtrusive man and a father-like figure to many, many young people. He will be greatly missed on this earth, but will rejoice in Heaven!

I would like to ask the FR Prayer Warriors to keep my step-mom, Sandra, in your prayers. She has been diagnosed with 4th stage lung cancer. On Thursday she will be going in for surgery to remove a tumor in her brain. I am very hopeful that all will go well. (I've been through a loved-one having brain surgery before.) The tumor appears to be on the top of her brain according to the MRI, so things look "good." Many of my FRiends have been praying for her already and I appreciate it so much. SEATTLE -- A group of Roman Catholic and Anglican leaders studying the role of Mary, the mother of Jesus, said Monday that after years of talks they have agreed that Catholic teachings on the Immaculate Conception and the Assumption of Mary into heaven are consistent with Anglican interpretations of the Bible. (Providence, RI) -- All Rhode Island political candidates are being asked to participate in a questionnaire about their positions on a variety of issues. Project Vote Smart today begins administering its National Political Awareness Test to all Rhode Island state legislative and congressional candidates. The questionnaire covers topics such as abortion, taxes, campaign finance and government reform, crime, education, and affirmative action. The deadline for candidates to respond is October 13th. I would like to ask the wonderful FReepers here to pray for my friend, Lindel. She had to have bypass surgery in May and, after not hearing anything since then, I have just learned that things went badly. She was to go in again for more surgery and I have not heard anything regarding her present condition. I cannot get in touch with her or her family since my only means of contact is through her email address. It's very difficult for me not knowing and I'm very worried. Thanks.
