Glenn Reynolds links to this interview with Federal Election Commission member Bradley Smith. Smith is one of six commissioners at the FEC, and one of three Republicans. He says that a recent ruling by U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly may pave the way for significant federal regulation of the Internet, including blogs. Indeed, the title of the piece is "The coming crackdown on blogging." The possibilities that Smith lays out are chilling and, if enacted, could spell the end of blogging as we know it. Indeed, it could turn much of what is published on the Net into a samizdat-style...

Mark this date on your calendar: Feb. 11, 2005. This was the day when the nation's big-time media finally realized they don't own exclusive rights to the First Amendment. And they are not happy. On Friday night, CNN chief news executive Eason Jordan resigned, pursued by a band of bloggers intent on finding out whether Jordan really accused the U.S. military of murdering journalists in his talk at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. As long as old-media institutions react to the blogosphere with such contempt, they'll never be able to understand what is going on. Indeed, the old-media...

(CNN) -- Nearly two-thirds of Americans are satisfied with the way things are going in the war on terrorism, according to a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll released Tuesday. Sixty-four percent of those polled said they were "very" or "somewhat" satisfied with the way things are going in the war on terrorism, while 35 percent said they were dissatisfied. That is a significant change from October, when 53 percent said they were satisfied and 47 percent were dissatisfied with the war on terror. The telephone poll of 1,010 adult Americans was conducted between Friday and Sunday, and has a margin of error...

The propagation of hate ideology by Saudi Arabia is known to be worldwide, but its occurrence within the United States has received scant attention until now. Within worldwide Sunni Islam, followers of Saudi Arabia’s extremist Wahhabi ideology are a distinct minority, as is evident by the millions of Muslims who have chosen to make America their home and are upstanding, law-abiding citizens and neighbors. The report concludes that the Saudi government propaganda examined reflects a “totalitarian ideology of hatred that can incite to violence,” and the fact that it is “being mainstreamed within our borders through the efforts of a...

MEMBERS OF CODEPINK: WOMEN FOR PEACE UNFURL BANNERS AND SPEAK OUT AGAINST THE IRAQ WAR DURING GEORGE BUSH’S INAUGURAL ADDRESS Washington, DC – As George W. Bush gave his inaugural address in front of the U.S. Capitol, six women peace activists stood up on their chairs in the VIP section and shouted “bring the troops home!” The women also held up banners reading “No War,” “Out of Iraq Now,” and “Bush Mandate: Troops Home Now.” They were dragged out of the inaugural ceremony by the police, and two of the women are still in police custody.

Go here http://villagevoice.com/news/0447,sutton,58615,9.html to see an utterly biased, disgusting characterization of those who are happy with President Bush's win as gap toothed, wife beating rednecks. I hesitate to post this in humor because it is NOT funny. Laura Ingraham is talking about this right now. I apologize if this has been posted. I did search but did not find it.
