I sent this email:
Dear Mr. O'Reilly,
I am writing you to address the comments you made regarding the commercial produced by the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. The "fair and balanced" approach you claim to take does not seem the case this time. While you might feel that this is a "right wing attack" I feel that these veterans who have defended our freedoms have every right to exercise their freedom of speech. I am proud that they are standing up for what they believe in especially considering the shame that was shown on them by the majority of Americans upon returning home from war (VVAW ring a bell?). Not to mention that there message is not given attention by the media and that there are many facts surrounding Mr. Kerry receiving his awards that the media neglects to report. If Mr. Kerry is going to claim that he will protect America when he is president just like he did when he was in Vietnam than I think that the public needs to know the following especially if Kerry chooses to use "being a war hero" for political gain:
1) Kerry was only in Vietnam for 4 MONTHS before he chose to come back
2)it is more than "questionable" the injuries he received to obtain the 3 purple harts in the 4 months in Vietnam
3) Kerry was an instrumental figure in how are troops were treated when they came back
I would wonder if you might be willing to step back and take a look at this for a moment, for this issue is one that hits home for me. My Brother, Sgt. Brian Wood was killed in action April 16, 2004 and was awarded a bronze star and 1 purple heart posthumously. If giving your life to this country gives you the honor of one purple heart than excuse me as I question how you might obtain 3 in 4 months. If you want to be fair and balanced than why don't you discuss these things and let your viewers decide.
