A CNN correspondent harshly fact-checked Gov. Tim Walz, D-Minn., on Wednesday, declaring that "there is no evidence" he carried weapons in combat as the vice presidential candidate appeared to previously imply.
Since Vice President Kamala Harris announced Walz as her 2024 running mate, his political and military record have come under intense scrutiny. Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, former President Trump’s running mate, accused Walz of misleading the country about his veteran status on Wednesday.
"He said, 'We shouldn't allow weapons that I used in war to be on America's streets.' Well, I wonder, Tim Walz, when were you ever in war? When was this? What was this weapon that you carried into war?" Vance asked. He then went on to say that Walz "has not spent a day in a combat zone" and accused him of stolen valor.
CNN correspondent Tom Foreman fact-checked claims about Walz’s military record that same day, recalling, "Walz did make a comment, speaking to a group — he’s done it a couple of times, where he has used language that suggested that he carried weapons in a fighting situation."......
A Harris campaign spokesperson told CNN, "In his 24 years of service, the Governor carried, fired and trained others to use weapons of war innumerable times. Governor Walz would never insult or undermine any American’s service to this country – in fact, he thanks Senator Vance for putting his life on the line for our country. It’s the American way."

I can also say I came under fire while supporting the US Army in Iraq. But I was a contractor, not active duty.
Waltz intentionally lied. There is no true but misleading in his statements about carrying weapons in war and retiring as a Sergeants Major.
There is undeniable video evidence that Walz said he carried a weapon of war in war.
Thing is - I didn’t know we were at any wary in Italy. Where Walz was deployed to.
Whenever CNN or any enemedia outlet fact checks anything...
Believe the complete opposite.

There’s a good chance that his Artillery Unit was doing nuclear custodial duty, that is no picnic. I personally know 2 officers that performed that Italy duty (had lunch with 1 a year ago). But it was not a combat/war zone.
Maybe you can answer a question. In the story about Walz’s DUI arrest, he claimed his deafness from being around artillery caused him to misunderstand the police officer’s instructions. If he had been that deaf, would he have been allowed to stay in the National Guard?

I can’t really say. However, every so many years (I think 6) you’re required to have a military physical which includes a hearing test. His physical before and after his DUI should be relevant.
A-Walz needs to speak to the Gold Star families who say his absence in Iraq may have contributed to the death of their sons.

I heard a different version: that his deafness caused balance issues which is why he failed the field sobriety tests. He also denied being drunk but he blew a 0.12. 🤣
And then, when the Iraq deployment crunch came, Sir Timmy bravely ran away.

If he had been that deaf, he was a menace on the highway. Can’t hear police or ambulance sirens, RR crossing bells, other drivers horns, the seatbelt alarm, or the turn signal blinker.
