I agree. The people who swing these elections are really drive-by voters. They base their decisions on headlines. Democrats have gained the upper hand in salesmanship and wordy inspirational speeches. We’ve got to get that back.

The America that elected Ronald Regan is NOT gone. What we have lacked is a truly conservative candidate with Ronald Regan's ability to inspire. Obama was elected based on his charisma alone because his message was empty, his accomplishments were minimal and his associations were shady...yet he wrapped all of it up in pretty paper and a bow and half of America didn't even look inside to smell the BS. Conservatism needs a huge shot in the arm from a candidate who can inspire the masses to believe in the fundamentals that this country was founded on...just gotta “sell” it as beautifully as Ronald Regan did!

A big thing to consider aside from the obvious conservative values is his/her method of delivery. If there's one thing that became clear during this election it is that the general voting population will buy whatever it is you're spewing if it's packaged and delivered right. Obama had no substance and a whole lot of shade under his tree, but he was so good at wrapping all that BS up in pretty paper and bows that half of the country didn't even look inside and smell the stink.

They will certainly try to sell the theory that it’s still Bush’s fault in 2012, but I don’t think it will float. Obama got his fair share of votes from people who agreed with his policies or maybe identified with the color of his skin, but I also think he got large portion of votes from people who were voting simply and stupidly for “change”.... whatever that meant. When these people actually have some of that “change” administered courtesy of their shiny new President and Congress, they won’t be as likely to fall for it again. It will be like a spanking...a painful, yet effective and well-deserved deterrent brought about a bad choice.

That is just too cool, but I’m afraid I’m gonna have bad Presidential devil-morphing dreams now.

Voting for Obama is...evidence that the advice that my Grandfather gave me was timeless and wise. He always said that if you can’t tell the difference between brilliance and BS, you’re better off just sitting it out until you can.

Please understand that I respect your choice and admire the courage and strength that it must take to birth a baby in this way, but I've got to side with modern medicine on this one. Having every feasible advantage on my baby's side by making sure that we both had the best health care possible was what I considered to be my utmost responsibility as a mom-to-be. Medicine is not a perfect science...some mistakes are made, but there are many, many more happy endings and miracles than mistakes. I just don't get the concept of going back to the stone age with childbirth. Seems a little like driving without those new-fangled seatbelt things.

So sorry for your loss! I understand how your work as a dog groomer might be difficult to endure given that your grief is in such an acute phase right now. Maybe there won’t be much comfort in taking care of fur babies for a little while, but the people who belong to those fur babies will surely understand and relate to your grief on a level that only “dog people” can get. You will be surrounded by people who truly “get” what you’re going through. Try to approach work from that angle for a while and remember that everything gets better with time...mercifully so!

Are you really sure that the cure could be worse than the disease? I don’t know what the answer is, but I’m becoming more and more inclined to believe that a diagnosis of careerpoliticianitis is more viral than the common cold, harder to get rid of than herpes, every bit as nauseating as food poisoning, as costly to live with as cancer treatment and every bit as much of a pain in my behind as a hemorrhoid! Gambling on the cure might just be worth it.

So let’s go. How? There will never be a better time than now.

My level of disgust and distrust for politicians has reached a level I can't seem to shut up about. Career politicians eventually gain so much power that they are hard to unseat and yet they are the most corruptable. Are term limits one solution to truly handing this government back over to the people it's supposed to represent? If so, I can't think of a better time to get really serious about this and start that ball rolling hard.

How about an Adopt-a-Mortgage plan? Would be a perfect opportunity for Hollywood, mainstream media moguls, etc. to put their money where their mouths are by trotting over to the bank and paying off someone’s delinquent mortgage! Imagine how many Oprah could wipe out all by herself!

People need to know just how much money this fool is planning to send away in foreign aid. Just yesterday, while Congress was actively debating this fundamentally screwed up bailout at MY expense, Obama said in his speech at the Clinton event that he wants to increase foreign aid, promote global education and buy 730 million mosquito nets for Africa to help fight malaria! I consider this a slap in the face and other responsible, mortagage paying taxpayers should know about this. It’s not enough that I have just been called upon to bailout greed, bad business, irresponsible homeowners....now he want me to go forth and feed the world. Sorry, BO..not feeling that generous today.

Rangel spit on Mississippi...no doubt about it. The timing kinda sucks for Taylor and Thompson what with all of those nice committee appointments being handed down around there. If Taylor and Thompson don't admonish these remarks and demand a decent apology, what does that say about where their loyalties lie? Unless something has changed this morning, Bennie is lying low, but Taylor laughed it off with a few lame comments about animals. To me, their response is the truly insulting part of this.

I couldn't agree with you more. It's a tough stand that we're making here and while I am proud that we are taking that stand on one hand, the other hand is more practical in it's thinking. Practical thinking tells me that we're going to have to put a lot of resources into defending this because the lawsuits are guaranteed. I think that Mississippi has enough to handle at this particular point in time and probably doesn't need the distraction right now. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the intent of the bill, but if we can't fight a good fight to keep it, we're just spinning our wheels. Also, for what it's worth, I just don't think that I can get behind any law that tells me that I have to carry a pregnancy conceived through rape to term. To me, that is sentencing victims to an incarceration with psychological and physical impacts far greater than the perpetrator would likely get. Sorry if that offends anyone, but I've thought long and hard about it in the past few days. Right or wrong, I believe that exception to the ban should exist.

I know that happens too, but that's not the same kind of thing that I am talking about. I am talking about the ones whose little victims end up in our emergency rooms with bruises and lacerations in places that leave little doubt that something really sick happened. There would have to be a pretty big burden to produce solid physical evidence. I'm not talking about statutory rape convicts or even ordinary rape convicts...I'm talking about the true pedophiles here. They're every bit as dangerous and sick as convicted serial killers...both groups should never get out of prison.

Wouldn't a better use of time and resources be in pushing the legal system to finally accept the fact that rehabilitation cannot be accomplished in those who severely abuse, molest and rape innocent children? There are some people who are just 'damaged goods'. They should be isolated from the rest of us...period; end of statement...no second chances.

Did I read it right in that the billboards are going to feature the ones who are in prison? Duh...the dangerous ones are those who are among us today. Post billboards of the ones who have plea bargained serious charges away, those who are wanted by the law and those who have been released as if they had been 'rehabilitated'. Make sure that I know when one of them is living in my area. How about giving me some information that actually helps me protect my kids. The ones in prison right now are only dangerous to each other.

I'm going to address just one point of yours right now because I only have a few minutes before my hyperactive three year old grows tired of the movie she is watching. You stated that "Corey Maye had no criminal record, a fact of which the jury was not and could not have been informed...". If you refer to the link that I posted for Mugs, you can read, from Maye's testimony, his answers to his attorney's questions regarding prior experiences with the law. He denied it and I have no reason to question his response. But, he was, indeed, questioned about this during the trial so the jury was actually informed of this. I do not have time to give you the page numbers but it's in there...I read it last night. Have you read the transcripts for yourself? If not, it's worth your time if you have a strong opinion about this case.
