"Do you suppose Pierre might be French AND German?"

You are attempting to use outdated nationalistic labels. They now go by Socialist Euroweenies.

It's actually much more accurate and realistic than the old names based on outdated borders. It also conviently allows for them to dismiss all we have done for them....IE we liberated France, not Euro.

This whole story flies in the face of a first hand account by an Iraqi doctor in the prison.

For a facinating account of the prison, as well as tons of more from inside Iraq, see the following blog put up by three Iraqi brothers in Bagdad.

The prison report is dated Saturday, May 08, 2004....second post down.

    I feel for you!

I have an acre of waterfront up in Wa. and the rules and restrictions are unbelievable. We hope to build there come retirement, but the way things are going thats questionable.

As it stands right now we are not allowed to do ANYTHING within 100 ft of the high tide line. This while we have neighbors with houses within 25ft of the water.

Ambigious and vague rules with a single person in the county with the authority to interpet them seems to be the biggest problem. That person is a greener deluxe of course, and to whom ANY develpoment is abhorent.

I suppose many of the points of contention could be fought legally, but that would still have the desired effect of shutting down any building as I can't afford to build and take on city hall.

The really sad part of the whole deal is that where I would like to build (approx 35' back from the water) virtually no excavation or logging/clearing needs to be done. Due to the 100ft setback, in order to build, I'll have to not only do massive excavation on a hillside but cut down about 25 very large trees. Go figure!!!

Not a problem....I got burnt on a skim myself just the other day. It's hard to process so much info with so little time. Unfortunately, there are many writers out there that seem to want to take advantage of that.

Well, whatever it is it has obviously altered the delicate ecosystem of the fragile coastline. Notice the the unnatural vegitation growth at the pipes outfall. Most likely not even native vegitation.

I wonder what her secret is? Should I try this on my property I would be BUSTED.

Jeeze! You're so all over the map I'm not sure where to even begin in response.

For starters, first you claim that response to Patty's remarks are but a product of only hearing "sound bites". When that was refuted, you resort to reactions against Patty being a matter of perspective. Perhaps if Patty had taken your advice and been better informed herself, this incident could have been avoided all together. (Please show me one Daycare center built by Osama....perhaps one of those built to help out the women of Afganistan under the Taliban rule, which weren't even allowed them to leave the home to get to said daycare center.) My perspective on Patty's statement is that it is total BS. I saw nothing "sinister" but rather so unimaginably stupid, I question how this women functions as a Senator.

Now, moving on, you say there is a great effort by some groups to stop people from speaking. Just how is this possible? People are being locked up, executed, or what? It seems you also need a little more information yourself on the nature of free speech. You, I, Everyone in this country has the right to say whatever they wish. This does not however preclude any repercussions for what we have said. If I were to say something as stupid, as say Patty did, I should fully expect to be called on it. Had I the pulpit that Patty does I should expect that, As Patty found out, that a LOT of people would call me on it. You will find no one here that doesn't think that Patty had no right to say what she did, but you will certainly find many that will hold her accountable for what she has said. While you may consider this "harassement" or "intimidation" I see it as simple accountability.

Frankly, your post comes across as simply another "can't we all just get along" statement.

    NO WE CAN'T!!!!

As long a Patty and her sympathizers continue to push our nation closer to socialism, I will continue to view her as the purveyor of a slightly less violent means to the same end as many a terrorist. For that reason, I NEVER intend to "get along", I will play the political slime game, I will do whatever I can to discredit, and I certainly have no intention of putting insults aside....though I would love to know how it is you think I insulted you....must be a matter of perception.

Welcome to FR....I see your new. Don't expect a lot of support around here in defending Patty Murry.

First off, I heard Patty's entire speech so don't be so quick to judge yourself that all we are aware of is a "sound bite". Patty does not need to be taken out of context to be considered a complete idiot. Too bad you weren't around here when this happened as I'm dissapointed we missed your defense of Patty at that time.

I would be interested in your take as to how a recall effort is somehow construed to be a quelling of free speech. Seems to me that a recall process is the very embodiment of our capability of free speech. Need I remind you that ONLY government can prevent free speech? To try to suggest that anything that Mr. White can do to supress free speech quite frankly comes off as "small and silly".

The attempt on your part to try to convince us that we need to "understand" Patty only serves to warn fellow Freepers as to your leanings....which we sadly understand all too well.

    Enjoy your stay!

Your assesment of Mcdondald is spot on and exactly why I just voted my Boeing proxy votes to boot him and Stonecipher off the BOD.

A point I might make here is that during the latest aircraft downturn, While Boeing has layed off approx half of their workforce to reflect conditions, AirBus has continued building planes (called whitetails) and parking them....all subsidized. This has in effect flooded and already glut market of planes and further reduced their value. Airbus then makes offers that airlines simply can't refuse either price wise or maintainence support wise.

The underlying strategy for Airbus is to use the EU subsudies and what amounts to "dumping" to essentially take a run at putting Boeing out of business. Boeing's strategy has been to attempt to maintain share value even in light of revenue drops of approx 50% since 9/11 and all the while develop new aircraft so that once the storm is weathered it will emerge stronger than ever.

In many cases having contact info on a website is required. For example...If you have a commercial website that accepts credit cards, your merchant account provider will require it (if reputible).

This does not mean I am inviting spam. I have no problem at all with cusomers contacting me, but that is a far stretch from "inviting people to email" me. Exactly how is displaying contact info an "invitation", and how is that soliciting anything???? Especially since I don't have any particular need to increase my penis size.
