Note he doesn’t say he has never been a Muslim, just that he has never been a practicing Muslim - remember he is a lawyer, and is precise with his words, implying without denying.

Never lie in court; always hire a professional to do it for you.

I read each, and understood. I suspect, since you ask several posters if they've read your posts, that the problem is more with your writing style and less with the reading and comprehension skills of others.

My way - I prefer not to have you anywhere near me when I'm smoking. Thanks for understanding! ;>|

Where does the "right" not to be offended end? If I find your odor offensive, may I insist you stay at a suitable distance? If I find your voice grating, , may I insist you (and Charlie Rangel) refrain from public speech? If I find you less than easy on the eyes, may I insist you stay away from any place that may be within my direct line of sight?

I personally (seriously) am offended by most cheap perfumes, including those put in cleaners and fabric softeners. Should legislation be enacted that forces stores to remove the offending items?

Your preference is that a smoker's vice should not impose on your "space", but you can only achieve that by restricting the preferences of others....

Our adoption papers (we have two girls, each born in China) were recorded in the local County and are, AFAIK, public records. I understand some older adoption records may be sealed, but most, if not all, modern adoptions are public, and local adoption is usually open, meaning the biological mother has certain visitation rights.

One thing we do know is how to use a dictionary. The Primary meaning of the word fixed (according to Merriam-Webster) is - 1 a : to make firm, stable, or stationary b : to give a permanent or final form to.... The third definition is - 3 a : to set or place definitely : ESTABLISH b : to make an accurate determination of... The FINAL definition offered is the one the conspiracy nuts on the left prefer - 7 a : to get even with b : to influence the actions, outcome, or effect of by improper or illegal methods .... It seems to me the memo merely states that the justification for action was being prepared, not that it was being doctored in any way. Another example of filtering news (and words) through preconceived ideas. Probably the reason this hasn't been pushed by the press - they use words for a living, and maybe even own a dictionary or two.

It is an interesting design, although being used to (relatively) square lines in buildings the shape is vaguely unsettling. I wonder about the original cost of construction - it seems that more structural material would be used in the helix, but perhaps if the floors are hung from the central core that would not be the case.

I also wonder what the impression is first hand. Sometimes a building appears quite different to the on-looker than it does in images from a distance.

Some of our local ranges that also sell guns will let you rent a pistol so you can try before you buy.

I've tested the ammo in a couple of settings, and the NRA trainer I used recommended the ammo. My requirements for CC are met best by the SIG - light, compact, DA/SA without a safety - when I bought I could not found another pistol that met these requirements that was also of highest-quality manufacture. Having a small cartridge, I want to get the most bang for the buck, so to speak. Also, as I do not want remnants of a bullet possibly injuring my close neighbors, I find frangible ammunition very attractive. For practical self defense situations, sometimes compromises are made.

I know there are a couple of web sites that argue MagSafe isn't effective, but I haven't yet seen side-by-side tests to back the argument. I'm always eager to learn - do you have data to back your assertion?

7 rounds plus one in the chamber. I sometimes carry extra magazines, but frankly, I hope I'm never in a situation that seven or eight rounds won't solve.

Look at the Sig Sauer P232 .380 (DA/SA) loaded with MagSafe. Lightweight, accurate, easy to control, easy to conceal even in a pocket. I carry an earlier version, the P230.

MagSafe ammo gives remarkable stopping power. From their web site:

"MagSafe's .380 beat every .45 ACP slug, every 10mm, every 9mm (including police-only ammo), every .40 caliber - no matter who made it - Cor-Bon, Remington, Glaser and HydraShok.

"In fact, MagSafe's lowest-powered .380 ACP load had an AIT faster than the best manstopper of all time - Remington's .357 Magnum 125-grain JHP!"

Possibly the laws differ by state or they have changed in the past year. We have known people who adopted children in this country. Other than having to wait for a while, they had no complaints about the system. And no, they didn't have to make big payments either. Since I haven't tried to adopt children you can call me ignorant -- name calling doesn't bother me.

I've been dealing personally with adoption laws for the last 6+ years. There have been some changes, such as granting citizenship on adoption, rather than through petition when back in the states. Not surprisingly, this "benefit" has increased the amount of paperwork.

Read the posts again - we were denied a U.S. adoption strictly because of our age. Yes, you know of one who is older and adopted - if you have the money for lawyers you can work the the system. Celebrities routinely adopt in a very short period of time regardless of age.

You are concerned about background checks? Guess what? State Child Abuse Registry, local police, state police, state bureau of investigation, FBI, INS, Department of State, all reports checked and verified by the Chinese Consulate, plus financial reports verified by an accounting firm and state sanctioned home studies by a social worker.

BTW, ignorance referred to your comment, not your person. You just don't have the facts, so voiced an opinion devoid of reason.

Yes i do sorry if this post offened you

Well, I'm sorry I got a little excited. There is a lot more to overseas adoption than most folks realize, and I can usually deal with off-hand comments in a good humour.

Unfortunately many children in this country never get adopted. I suppose many find if more fashionable to adopt a foreign child.

Fashion has nothing to do with it. And you are right, there are many kids in this country who do not have homes. Rather than ignorantly claim it has to do with fashion, why not learn something about the laws, court system, and pro-abortion activists that create and perpetuate the problem. Hell, I would love to have a houseful of kids - and has been said eloquently elsewhere, if every Christian did their duty there would be no need for orphanages or foster homes.

Of course not its not in vouge

Catch a clue here, pal. If you understood the problems inherent in any inter-racial adoption you might not be so flippant in your response. Believe it or not, some of us adopted our kids without giving a flying Kerry whether or not a celebrity had done so.

Why do people have to go overseas to adopt a baby? Don't we have American kids who need to be adopted--or is there something wrong with orphaned American kids?

In our case, we were declared too old to adopt by the U.S. agencies. We could adopt an older child, but most of these poor kids are warehoused and drugged, and frankly we were not up for that challenge - perhaps in the future we will be.

In addition, the U.S. court system caused a concern, as did "open adoption". keilimon
