Comment on a story about the Gulf Oil Leak | 5-8-10 | unknown
I gave a donation to the Sierra Club a few days ago. My heart is broken as it is ALREADY too late. The damage is done and can only get worse if they cannot cap this horrendous leak. I am placing the blame not only on BP but on an administration I supported through thick and thin. I was willing to overlook the many many disappointments the Democratic base has been handed so willingly by this administration, to us the ones who loved him. My heart is sick as to the damage NOT ONLY to our gorgeous ecosystem but to...

I have begun a group on Facebook to pursue Patriots of all persuasions to join together in common cause to vote out the tyrants in November and beyond. I am a LONG TIME member of Free Republic, since 1998. PLEASE join my group on Facebook and send this on to other like-minded Americans. I want a group MILLIONS STRONG of people who won't forget once the liars start their spinning back to the middle or right to get elected. There can NOT be too many groups to go against these people. Be a member of the Tea Party movement AND...
  • Is This Karl Rove's Revenge?

It just occurred to me the other day about Karl Rove nearly being rail-roaded into indictment by the Demoncrats. How much trouble did this cost him? How much in legal bills? How much in lost respect? How much in lost sleep and stress and torture to his family? It then occurred to me that I would not want to make THIS man mad at me. Could it be that ALL of the optimism on Rove's part, ALL of the confidence and bravado in what he knows versus what the Democrat liberal establishment knows, is due to the fact that DESTROYING...

I'm GLAD this came out. Anyone who thinks their life is not an open book should not run for political office. I think the potential, fair or not (and I think that it is fair), is for a political "Perfect Storm" to come out of this for Republicans. Democrats, such as Chris Dodd from Connecticut, have ALREADY come out defending Jim Webb. He was on Imus this morning. To me, Imus represents the left of center Independent vote. Imus was talking about this being sick and how uncomfortable he was with it. He then asked Dodd if he wanted to...
  • Which States Are Voting On a Marriage Amendment?

It seems to me that whichever states have marriage protection amendments on their ballots would have a larger than normal Evangelical turnout. This should work out well for our candidates. So WHICH states have votes on this?

    Terri's Fight ^ | 3/18/05 | jonboy
I get SOOOOO tired and exasperated at so many of these people talking about Terri as though she is vegetative. I lost a friend last November who was in a vegetative state for 4 days before she died. Her eyes were open, she was breathing by machine, and there was nothing and I mean nothing alive about her. It was one of the most wrenching things I've ever experienced. For those who HAVE NOT familiarized themselves with Terri's situation, follow the links and educate yourselves. I'm sick of people speaking on this forum about her who have ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE...
  • HELP! I Am Trying To Erase My Hard Drive

I am trying to erase my hard drive and start over. I have done nothing but transfer one hard drive's info to the next for the last 8 years and now have an opportunity to wipe it clean and start all over. I have backed up the files that I needed to. My problem is that I have Windows XP and cannot get to a DOS prompt. Plus I cannot change my BIOS settings for some reason to boot from disk. If anyone can help me I would be most appreciative.
  • Director compares 'Troy' to Iraq war

    Tiscali Entertainment ^ | 5/12/04 | unknown
The invasion of Iraq occurred just as shooting for the film got underway in Malta. "I couldn't believe it," 60-year-old Petersen told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa. "I thought, it's as if nothing has changed in 3 000 years. People are still using deceit to engage in wars of vengeance." While stressing that he "did not make this film with the intention of making an anti-American statement", Petersen said the parallels between the Trojan war and the Iraq war became more apparent daily during the filming. "Just as King Agamemnon waged what was essentially a war of conquest on the ruse of...

We've been hearing alot from the Hollywood and liberal glitterati lately. They've suddenly found their collective voice to speak out against truly dangerous things, like Jesus Christ. We're hearing from these hypocrites (who have as much right to speak about violence in movies as a prostitute has a right to speak about chastity) about the overdone crucifixion and how this is one man's "sick" version of events. This is a religious Friday the 13th some of them say. Well I thought it would be good to start a thread to look at what really happened according to scripture. I'm listing...

I'm not sure where to start. I'm a fellow Freeper who also happens to be minister. I was invited today to see a screening of the Passion of the Christ at our local theater. I have been fascinated, and you might even be able to say obsessed with this movie ever since I heard about it a few months ago and first saw the trailer (I cried every time I saw it). Given that I have watched and listened to several interviews and read several news stories about this movie I was as prepared as I thought I could be...
  • Will The Passion Movie Have Political As Well As Spiritual Consequences?

Several months back we began hearing the drumbeat of disapproval from the media and Hollywood elites about Mel Gibson's soon to be released The Passion of the Christ. He had a TERRIBLE time finding a distributor, he had to self-finance the movie, his original title, simply, The Passion was denied him because Miramax declared that they had the rights to that title. He was told that the movie would be a flop and that religious movies don't make money. As support for this claim, they mentioned the terrible controversy surrounding another Jesus movie, The Last Temptation of Christ. More than...

I'll be honest. I think Free Republic has some of the finest political minds available. We Know that Rush lurks here as well as Hannity, Mark Levin and others of their ilk. I thought it might be good if we formed a thread that plotted actual strategery, and actually listed different ideas for radio and TV ad spots for both President Bush and the GOP. After the thread is deemed complete we can send it in to the powers that be and see if we can bring the Democrat nominee down a few notches. Will leave the lying to them,...

I've been reading a lot of tidbits here and there about what is expected to happen in 2004. I thought it would be fun to start a thread for all of us novices and experts to place their own observations and opinions about what is likely to happen in the next election. Insider's input is welcome as well.

Tuesday, November 04, 2003Political Perspective A Year Out By Matthew Dowd Many recent polls have been reported in news outlets and dissected by pundits the last couple of months. And even though last April, we anticipated and forecasted a drop in Presidential job approval and a very high likelihood that President Bush may be behind at some point (every President running for re-election since 1972 has been behind at some point), political commentators perceived the numbers as bad news for the Bush Team and declared “the sky is falling” once again. Where the public is today In the two most...

OK, I'll admit it. Many times I have ranted and raved when I see a celebrity speak out against our country or our President, and many times I have stated that these celebrities are idiots and who cares about their stupid twit opinions. As many times as I have, I admit being inconsistent. When I see that a prominent celebrity has come out strongly in favor of our country or our President it thrills me. All of a sudden I care. For all those who share this idiosyncrasy, this thread's for you. If we can try to punish those idiots...

FRANK RICH: ARNOLD BETTER THAN BUSH Tue Sep 09 2003 16:49:49 ET NY TIMES critic Frank Rich is planning a controversial essay for Sunday's paper arguing how Arnold Schwarzenegger is a better "actor" than President Bush. "At least Schwarzenegger is a show-business pro," Rich writes in his autumnal debut. An unauthorized early draft was obtained by DRUDGE. Rich on storyline: "Schwarzenegger never would have signed on for a remake of "Top Gun" without first ensuring that it would have the same happy ending as the original." Rich on casting: "Schwarzenegger never would have allowed himself to look as scared...

I know an enormous amount has been said about whether Saddam is dead or not. What clinched it for me was the side by side photos below The first image is of course the one that everyone has seen from the still of Saddams "live" appearance just after Dubyah dropped the bomb Wednesday night. The second image is a shot from Saddam from his interview with Dan Blather. If you'll focus on the nose in particular ANYONE can see that it is not the same man. I have thought that Saddam was dead since Wednesday night when I lined up...

  • Salmon's Odds Are Good

PHOENIX: 69 More Weather Site Search Salmon's odds are good Nov. 9, 2002 It would be foolish for anyone to predict that Matt Salmon will win the governor's race. But AP's pronouncement of Janet Napolitano's victory may prove to be just as foolish. I, for one, hope it will. Salmon's chances are certainly not over. Among the still uncounted ballots, a 60-40 ratio would be enough to put Salmon over the top. And that is not unrealistic given the circumstances: • Maricopa County generally goes Republican. • Most of the uncounted ballots were early ballots that hadn't been mailed in. Hundreds...
